Oh sorry hotcross, missed the bit about B's head... How is she now?

E is very very impressed with B's artwork on the totem pole and asked 'can we go and see that in real life?' when I showed her the pictures

hotcrossbunny · 04/03/2010 11:19

Hello Can't believe a whole week has gone by so fast Has been manic!

Well done on continuing the weight loss Hippi. I am in awe of you! We wont recognise you, if we manage to meet up.

MAS, your workshop is amazing. I am v v jealous, but can quite understand why you're still mainly working at your old desk. I have a particular place I sit at home, and I'm sure I'm more productive there, than I would be in another room. I'm sure your dad will understand that these things take time.

B's head is fine. She had a swollen lip for a couple of days, but no other ill effects, thank goodness. I've had dh home sick, which always throws me. I end up hurtling round looking busy so he doesn't think I sit on MN all day Am exhausted, but have quite a tidy house

hippipotamiHasLost80lbs · 04/03/2010 12:18

Oh hotcross, I do exactly the same when dh is home - I exhaust myself trying to look busy!!

We are all full of cold (again!).

O is camping out Sat night and then will leave for his school trip on Tuesday. He will be sooo tired (and possibly still full of cold). Bad timing [wibble]

Hope we can squeeze in a meetup. What are you guys up to during the second week of the Easter holidays?

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/03/2010 13:21

not sure about Easter hols yet- will be seeing MIL at some point but can't know when until I get my mammogram appointment which I have to have a week or so before my check up in April (cannot believe that it's coming up for nearly a year since diagnosis -and the last time we three saw each other too -29th April)
Hope O feels better for his trip-also hope Mr Hotcross is better too. When dh works from home I do actually spend a lot longer at my desk than I would normally !!

help -the thread disappeared off my list !!

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 12/03/2010 11:28

Hello Hope you're both OK? We're just working out our Easter plans, so will let you know when I'm free, and then hopefully we can all manage to meet up!

I've been a bit out of the loop the past week or so. I've had excruciating toothache, an abcess which needed AB's and have had the tooth out this week. For some reason it's taking me ages to bounce back from it, my cheek is still numb and I'm all wobbly. Definitely my immune system is wonky again.

We had a rather exciting Saturday. I took myself off to bed that night quite early, doped up on painkillers and was woken about 2:30 am to lots of shouting/swearing outside our house. A man was going crazy at his girlfriend, threatening to kill her etc etc. It sounded so awful we phoned the police, and then dh went outside to check the girl was OK as she was being hit They had got about 200m from the house and you could still hear it all really clearly. The bloke turned on dh just as the police turned up (thank goodness), ripped his sweater in two and bruised and scratched him We ended up having to give statements and the coppers left us about 5 am. All awful, and they said if dh hadn't gone out it could well have ended nastily for the girl as the man was dragging her into the woods. All in all a bit terrifying... It goes to court next week, but he's admitted everything (the girl wouldn't press charges silly thing, but dh has) so we don't need to be there I don't think. Dh spent Sunday in A & E bei9ng checked out. I'm very proud of him, but also was very scared for him. You hear such dreadful things. Things like that don't usually happen round here...

B has gone into school for Book Week today dressed as Pippi Longstocking. She looks fab! Will email photo when I can. Can't believe how many princess/fairies/supermen there were

hotcrossbunny · 12/03/2010 11:28

Btw, hope O has had a fab week with all his adventures!

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/03/2010 12:45

OMG !!!! hotcross -what a scary thing !! how brave is dh !!
you must be very shaken up though...perhaps that's why aftermath of tooth extraction is making you feel a bit wibbly. Wel done for getting through that - must've been unpleasant.
I bet there were lots of easy to do costumes for book day - it used to really piss me off- especially when they weren't really even book characters..bet B looked great !

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 12/03/2010 15:38

You're probably right, it did shake me up a bit. Will have a relaxing weekend, hopefully without drama!

I am hoping B doesn't repeat what I said about the families who don't make an effort with the dressing up I just think it's a shame not to at least try...

hippipotamiHasLost80lbs · 13/03/2010 14:23

Crikey hotcross!! What a scare! But well done to your dh for being so brave - so many people would have stepped back and not interfered, with possible disastrous consequences for the girl...
But yikes, how scary!

I have just finished my first week of working all day every day. Am exhausted! It is very very draining, both physically and mentally. But very enjoyable, so that is good!

My mum and dad are over from Holland this weekend. We went out for dinner with them last night, which was lovely. They are spending today with my sister in London before coming back to us for Sunday.

O came back from his school trip yesterday a very tired but extremely happy boy. The trip (Stone Farm in Devon - looking after the animals as well as daytrips to The Eden Project, Barrington Court and The National Aquarium)was great fun and he got on well with all his classmates. He even told me he is "warming up" to boy M one of the main bullies. He said he did not want to leave Stone Farm it was so lovely. I am so relieved.

Dh is working this weekend so I have turfed the dc out into the garden so I can tidy up mumsnet in peace for a few minutes

Have a good weekend both of you!

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/03/2010 14:56

that's great that O had a good time - sounds great !
Am having mum over to lunch tomorrow for Mothers Day- dad will be sailing..

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 13/03/2010 14:56

sorry, should have thought of a different word to great twice !

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost80lbs · 13/03/2010 18:20

I don't mind great twice - it was great

(or good, or nice, or wonderful or brilliant or excellent )

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/03/2010 08:52

just keeping this thread in sight- nothing much to report- lots of work to do last week so busy...waiting for men to come to fix flashing on sloping roof above utility, think they've been busy, but do hope they;ll come next week.
Hope all is well with you two xxx

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 22/03/2010 15:42

Hello Don't know why I'm neglecting you both so much ATM, actually not just you...am very out-of-touch with many many friends, and am making a resolution to try harder to keep contact.

Hope you're both well. Building type work takes up so much time and energy MAS, I'm trying to get quotes for hedge trimming and only one person has come back to me they're coming tonight, so I hope they're reasonable!

I've been tiding up the garden today - long overdue - but rain has brought me inside Doggle has been digging madly, so have been putting earth back in flower beds. Honestly, there's no wonder our garden is always a mess!

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/03/2010 10:13

roof man was coming today but rang to say he'd hurt his back - poor thing-really hope it's ok for tomorrow ! I should have suggested he slaps some arnica on.
I've neglected this thread so much - lots on at the mo is my excuse, not that I've forgotten you

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost80lbs · 27/03/2010 10:56

Hello you two - sorry I have not been here in so long
Truth be told, I am struggeling with my practically full-time job. It is such hard work (the job itself) and emotionally draining. And with dh working long hours I struggle to get all the cleaning, cooking, laundry, dogwalks, homework with dc, dc's activities etc fitted in to the day/week.

Never mind, am sure I will get used to it. But I do miss the high school - exam season is coming up and a teeny part of me wishes I could be there instead...

On a happier note - E has her first proper riding lesson this afternoon, she is dressed in her jodhpurs already

hotcrossbunny · 27/03/2010 21:19

I'm neglecting it too without the good excuse that you have Hippi. I don't know how you do it...

How did the riding lesson go? B is absolutely desperate to have a proper lesson. We might sort something out when her birthday comes round.

How's the roof MAS? Hopefully fixed and non-leaky! I've still only one hedge trimming quote - obviously no-one needs the work round here

We're finally sorting out Easter hols.. If either of you are around the second week of the holidays, give a shout!

hippipotamiHasLost80lbs · 27/03/2010 21:31

Hi hotcross
We are having the same problem with our roof - one company bothered to come and quote but when we accepted they never came and fixed the leak. Sob.
One company out of the 4 we rang bothered to quote for new fencing. Only one. And their quote is stupidly much so we are not sure...
No-one needs the work so it seems!

We are around on the Wednesday of the second week of the Easter holiday. That is our only free day. And would love to spend it with you and MAS if you are around??

Riding lesson was fab. Only 5 in the group, all beginners, 3 on lead rein incl Emily. I was impressed by the teacher and E had a fab time. But typical E - she does not say much. At her age I would have been full of it and not shut up, but E bottles it all up. But she was all smiles and tells me she wants to go again. I have booked her in for an all-day camp during the Easter holiday and for another beginner lesson in a months' time. We can really only stretch to a lesson every 3 or 4 weeks for now. Will see how she goes

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/03/2010 09:56

we won't be about then -seeing MIL - but if you do meet have a jolly time.
So glad that E's riding was a success !
Grrr about hedge trimming hotcross and your roof and fencing hippi...roof man appeared on Thursday (a different man from the injured one) and did the job very efficiently - I hope - anyway, nice new properly sealed flashing. Can give you their number if you like hippi -we've used them for a bigger job before this and they're properly accredited etc
Spring concert at school tomorrow evening (not too long I hope -they do drag !)
T has a nasty cold - he has spent last night at mum's as we went out to dinner at a friends house (yum -home really late -am sooo tired !) He has singing lesson tomorrow too-perhaps they can do theory instead of singing.

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost80lbs · 28/03/2010 11:29

Oh MAS When will we meet again???

Sorry to hear about T's cold - O ended up having a day off last week, it was just not worth sending him into school. (plus his teacher is pregnant so I would feel mean if he passed it on)

If either of you are around - O's theatre group (Stageworks) are performing at the Electric Theatre in Guildford at 6pm on the 2nd of May. The show is called 'What We Talk About When We Talk About Love' I have no idea what it is going to be like, as the group write, direct and stage manage their own plays (under guidance of a drama coach) the results are always unique

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/03/2010 19:32

break a leg O ! how exciting !
Am sure we shall see each other before too long - things are just hectic it seems, but I do think of you

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 30/03/2010 13:05

Hi, hope the last few days of term are going smoothly. Glad the riding lesson was enjoyed, and hope the concert was good MAS and T was feeling up to it?

We had our Easter Assembly yesterday, which was really lovely. B had a speaking part(as usual!) and played the recorders - Hot Cross Buns of course Then it was the Easter Fair in the afternoon with the bonnet parade. Was such hard work, but seemed to go smoothly and hopefully we made a good amount of money...

Today was Book Group, which was a good chance to catch up before the holidays. None of us managed to read the book this time, so we gossiped instead!

Sorry you're away at easter MAS. I'm free on the Wednesday. Dh is around but we're happy to come over your way Hippi for a dog walk or something, or we can try for another date.. Unfortunatley we're away when O's show is on, otherwise we'd have loved to join you. Look out for B's sculpture though!

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/03/2010 13:42

good for B at Easter Assembly !
T was ok for the concert -gave him the option of leaving at the interval as the choir weren't in the second half, but he was happy to stay on..am glad we did as T's piano teacher was accompanying his daughter who was playing the oboe -it was fantastic.

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 30/03/2010 22:54

Glad the concert went well MAS. How lovely to see T's teacher playing

Last day of term tomorrow. YAY!
