francaghostohollywood · 05/10/2009 21:36

Oh yes, I've seen people getting at 5 yrs old weeing against trees in the park on MN

Sputnik · 05/10/2009 21:44

Probably dog owners.

TheMysticMasseuse · 05/10/2009 21:48

no way i am putting myself out there with my pipi question

Sputnik, lol, lol, lol, lol!!

btw Franca, you sould TOTALLY change your name to francasaysrelax!

francaghostohollywood · 05/10/2009 21:49

.

francaghostohollywood · 05/10/2009 21:51

I know, I know... I just wait for a good opportunity... the perfect controversial thread ...perhaps Masseuse you should start that pipi thread

MM how did the single mother day go?

francaghostohollywood · 05/10/2009 21:52

I'm just waiting for...
sorry I'm a bit distracted, listening to Elio e le storie tese on radio deejay (ggggiovane emoticon)

TheMysticMasseuse · 05/10/2009 21:55

thanks for asking franca, single mother day went ok, a bit sad though i have counted i have about 50 single mother days ahead of me until Christmas, and then, as a prize, i get to move to switzerland

i have a massive magone now. actually off to bed as i am knackered and who knows what fun and games await me in the night (the masseusettes tend to play up in the small hours).

btw i have learned a new word tonight, thanks to the Wire: Stevedore, which sounds lovely doesn't it? well, it literally means "scaricatore di porto"

Sputnik · 05/10/2009 21:55

Elio...
Yes, how did it go MM? I have done a fair bit of single handed parenting with DH's trips away. It's hard at first but you get into a rhythm.

francaghostohollywood · 05/10/2009 22:02

Oh no Masseuse, so sorry about the magone... ... I totally understand how you feel ... have you made any decision about the MA?

Sputnik, Mangoni is now singing "more than a feeling" . I love their prog with Linus on radiodeejay. I think I've been to more than 10 elio concerts (nerd emoticon)

They have a new single out storia di un bellimbusto

TheMysticMasseuse · 05/10/2009 22:15

those fonzies made me feel better franca thanks.

isn't it funny the way MN goes. sometimes you get people going all crazy if you mention you spend 100 quid on a pair of shoes/handbag/bookshelves (which one was it pippi), and now i am on a thread about a wooden train set where everyone is saying how great it is and it costs only 65 pounds . i got flamed for suggesting to get the Ikea version... but then i am cheap when it comes to toys, i bought all the lego on ebay or charity shop...

dd1 has dictated her letter to babbo natale (wtf? how does she know?) she wants a pirate costume. bless her.

Sputnik · 05/10/2009 22:17

DD spent the weekend perusing the Playmobil catalogue!
Right, off to bed, notte

francaghostohollywood · 05/10/2009 22:18

gosh 65 is a lot. Is it the brio?
awwww a pirate costume My dc still love to dress up... we even have a donkey outfit...

TheMysticMasseuse · 05/10/2009 22:18

franca, not for the first time, you would have been my db's soulmate with your elio's obsession. pity you're already taken, i'd have liked to have you as a sil

buonanotte

francaghostohollywood · 05/10/2009 22:19

buona notte a tutte

Penthesileia · 05/10/2009 22:20

Hey everyone.

Rosa - sorry to hear that miniRosa is unwell. Really hope she feels better soon.

MM for you too. Seriously, though, I am feeling positive for you about Switzerland. It is such a nice country and Geneva is lovely. Have you posted to talk to other Swiss/expat MNers? There's MmeLindt in Geneva, I think.

Re: kids peeing in public. So long as they're under 7 or so, it feels fine to me. I've never been offended by some poor little kid getting caught short and needing to be held up over the nearest bush!

Well, it's been like the plagues of Egypt round here. We've moved onto eye infections now . I looked lovely today, all bloodshot. DD much better; DH not so, poor soul... We missed my cousin's wedding, of course, because of all the pestilence. Ach. Never mind.

LOL @ parma anxiety during pregnancy. I ate parma ham the Xmas I was pg with DD, and spent ages worrying about it. WTF? I mean, in retrospect, they make you soooooo anxious about everything. How did anyone ever have babies? I remember I went for afternoon tea in Liberty's with friends and deliberated long and hard about the dangers of the goat's cheese mini-quiches they put out.

franca - definitely francasaysrelax! It would be so cool, as everyone would know it was you, and so it would seem so cool and clever a "change" IYSWIM. However, I agree that you kind of need to wait for a mega-controversial thread. Perhaps I could start one:

"AIBU to think that single mothers who SAH all scrounge off the state and feed their children fruit-shoots & sausage rolls, and didn't even BF their children, but FF them, the lazy selfish feckers? Bet they don't even give them the MMR. The Tories need to sort them out, right and proper"

Would anyone bite, do you think?

francaghostohollywood · 05/10/2009 22:22

the squallor, elio... we are def soul mates Masseuse ...

well, I hope this may cheer you up www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyrYLJML5Oc&feature=related

francaghostohollywood · 05/10/2009 22:28

Penthe! I was going to bed and you lured me back

Yes, Lindt is in Geneva and is very nice. ANd Massuse, you'll be quite close to Milan, I can take you to an elio concert. Though the concert are not as fun as they used to be nowadays, as the audience is mostly made up by very young people, who usually don't get the cleverest jokes (again, nerd emoticon)

lol penthe, I dare you starting that thread...

francaghostohollywood · 05/10/2009 22:29

sorry to hear dh is still unwell. Is it the dreaded suina?

Penthesileia · 05/10/2009 22:33

LOL @ suina. As you can imagine, we have spent many hours debating whether or not we have had pig flu .

I think not, but then, who knows? They've stopped testing, and if you do the NHS self-diagnosis thing online they basically tell you you've got it and prescribe you Tamiflu with an authorisation code and everything if you so much as suggest you have a temperature!

Thing is, I've never had flu'. Like real flu (rather than man-flu ), so I don't know what to expect. Plus, some people say that you can get swine flu very mildy and not at all like seasonal flu.

Can you tell we've been thinking about this a lot?

Are there any other classic MN bunfight scenarios I could angle in, do you think?

francaghostohollywood · 05/10/2009 22:37

well the fact that you have eye infection makes it more possible that it could be the suina, as it's one of the symptoms.

I've had 2 episodes of brutta flu and it's dire.

mmmm I think you pretty much covered everything with that title. Did you mention people smoking outside (people on mn want to ban smoking outside), people stroking bumps and mothers in law?

Penthesileia · 05/10/2009 22:46

Is that true about the eye infection? I should try to find out more. See, I felt bad, but not that bad - not pandemic bad, IYSWIM? If I have had swine-flu, it was a bit of an anti-climax

LOL @ MILs, etc.!

Penthesileia · 05/10/2009 22:50

PS. Aren't you glad you stayed to talk swine-flu with me!

SuiGeneris · 05/10/2009 22:55

Found you again at last. Still have not caught up on all the posts, but the mention of marrons glace' ice cream makes me sigh (and DH, next to me, laugh).

Last year I saw marrons glaces being sold in one of the patisseries (is there an English word for this?) in St Pancras, zoomed in to get some and found out they were £2 a piece! And they were not that fresh either... But in 10 days, I go to Italy and stock up...

Sorry for lowering the level of the conversation somewhat. Goodnight everybody!

francaghostohollywood · 05/10/2009 22:56

Shhhhht penthe! It can be mild. Now you'll have to spend the rest of the winter wondering... "did I or didn't I?"

I have to go, dh is switching off my light and I want to read grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

'night my dear

francaghostohollywood · 05/10/2009 22:57

Hello SG ... maron glacees are truly expensive here as well!

Buona notte, I really have to go
