Was meant to be grin, not grim.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 16/10/2009 10:24

Yes all money together here too.

Oh poor friends JB. Wouldn't now what to do for them. Maybe just be there for them to listen? Do they want to leave their job but can't or they don't want to but cannot manage both succesfully?

JavierBardem · 16/10/2009 10:25

Must be so MUCH harder in an Italian village. What about studying? Did you not talk about studying medicine?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 16/10/2009 10:29

Rant and moan away MI. When I come over to see my dad who lives in U. we can meet up and moan 'live'.

Blueberry cake is abs deeelicious btw. feel bd didn't take it the schhol. I certainly won't now that I've tasted it .

JavierBardem · 16/10/2009 10:30

They do want to work, they have nice jobs, but they are basically always on the go. I am seeing one later, will make some fairy cakes (a la stepford) and bring them over. And get a plant. I remember feeling very depressed and buying myself a geranium and feeling soooo much better. (but that might be me.)

We missed Gloria Origgi!

JavierBardem · 16/10/2009 10:31

Yes, moan away MI.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 16/10/2009 10:34

Oh yes JB sorry I meant to say I couldn't do yesterday. Still would like to get the book if nothing else for a dip in the past.

Geek question: my friends an I have decided that for xmas this year we will all make Amazon wish lists This way we can all choose whatever presents we like for that person within the thing one would like (you know those useless things you always want but would not buy yourself). Now how do you go about making the wish list public?

francaghostohollywood · 16/10/2009 10:36

HR depts in Italy are crap ... or at least they were 15 yrs ago... most of them never ever even bothered to reply

Moan away MI, we like a good old moaning on here

You poor friends javier, there is not much you could do apart from supporting them (and cook cupcakes )

Sputnik · 16/10/2009 11:13

Wow thanks Buch, loads of pointers there, will spend the morning browsing now.
God I went off to do a few puzzles with DS and you lot fill pages of thread!
Glad someone else fessed up to not sending their kids to bed til 9.

Sputnik · 16/10/2009 11:32

I'd be intereseted in those assessment questions too Buch, if it's not too much hassle. Although have no basis for comparison as this would be my first time.

It's somebody I know through DH's work, and have known and worked with myself for quite a while, but obviously want to give him value for money. How much do you charge for private 1 to 1, if you don't mind me asking? DH says going rate is 30 euros an hour, he is currently paying 40 for arabic lessons. I thought about half that as I'm unqualified and may in fact turn out to be crap at it.

Camomilla · 16/10/2009 11:39

Still achey and cold, but no temp , couldn't even sleep because of the pain, for once that DD slept!! and first thing this mornign we had to go to DS's class school assembly, when all I wanted was to curl up in bed. still, the assembly was so good and funny (and emotional for the parents )

JB, you can only be there for them, I'm sure just having someone to talk to helps, especially if you bring cupcakes!

MI, even though I'm back at work, I'm only there twice a week so I',m kind of an "outsider"/second class colleague. If anything, I only have a chat with the people I used to work with years ago (in fact, had a coffee with ex boss and colleague yesterday and we still meet socially with the "old" team twice a year). But I have no friends or family around here, and I've given up on the school mums, so if I want a good moan, I'm afraid LI is the place for me , especially as you all seem to be so like-minded.

buch, at Munch mum!

franca, sorry about the dog, missed that yesterday... oh, thanks for the link too . it'd be nice to know what GB really thinks about berlusca, but I doubt he'll answer your question... maybe we should all ask it and then he'll have too

off to bake a cake, promised DS....

Camomilla · 16/10/2009 11:40

sorry, went a bit overboard with those faces...

minervaitalica · 16/10/2009 11:54

Nooo, we like faces Camo...

Pippi - would be great to meet you when you are around. Who knows, we may even know each other (small region after all)

JB, yes, more studying is on the cards - am looking into it but it will be from next year if I do decide to go for it...

DH is at least coming home soon...

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 16/10/2009 12:02

Doubt it MI as no one in my family is from U, just my dad moved there some 10 years ago - pippi's dad = hermit. Unless you are his lawyer's niece/daughter who as he told me was living in london or the UK.

francaghostohollywood · 16/10/2009 12:12

Oh the dog has passed away and has already been sepolto next to pil's much loved other dog .
Ds will be home in 40 mins and I'll have to break the news to him (he already knows that the dog hasn't been eating/drinking etc for days etc and cried a lot yesterday night). Argh!

Camomilla · 16/10/2009 13:01

sorry, franca... I was distraught when ours died...

GB's been busy already, is it going to answer you?

francaghostohollywood · 16/10/2009 13:24

He is not answering my question. He is being too English about it !!!

francaghostohollywood · 16/10/2009 13:24

Ds is acting all rational about the dog's death. He cried buckets yesterday night. But he is now looking at photo albums.

Camomilla · 16/10/2009 13:25

i know, I keep on refreshing, but nothing...

Camomilla · 16/10/2009 13:26

bless him.....

Rosa · 16/10/2009 14:27

I gave up following after about 4 pages ...
No idea if he answered mine - probably not !
I have been asked to do English lessons as dd nursery for the 'grandi' as they cannot find a teacher ... It will be for love I believe but they do often do a 'busta' at the fine . I am undecided what to do I think I might like the experience but it will be a bit of work intime I am not sure I have - Rosa looks round at a very untidy ( MEGA) house and wonders .......
Off to get dd from her I expect another non sleep at materna. But I have dh for an hour to help with Miss grumpy.
Franca hope ds is ok I remember when my dog died I was soooo sad.
Camo hope you feel better
Minerva I went through the same thing as I used to earn more than dh at one point . He puts money for general things in a pot - as I could not bear to have it handed to me !!! I have joint credit cards etc and I just swallow and spend. However I do use what is left of ' my money' for his presents I can't get over that bump yet !

OP posts:
Camomilla · 16/10/2009 15:01

Rosa, it didn't. didn't even answer franca's very important question (I was about to ask him how difficult it is not too openly giggle at berlusca, maybe that'd been a bit less controversial )

feeling all achey still, really don't get it, feels like flu but without the runny nose and temp.

OMG, can smell DD, must go chnage her!

Camomilla · 16/10/2009 16:02

by the way, have you seen george out in town with canalis !?!?

francaghostohollywood · 16/10/2009 16:58

Oh Rosa, I think you should go for it! I think you'd be a brilliant english teacher for those children ! Do it!

No, gordie didn't answer. He didn't answer a lot of questions, which has infuriated lots of mnetters.

The dc have been really "controlled" after yesterday's night desperation. Either they are cold hearted or it's their way to show us they are "strong" and coping. I'm expecting a melt down soon.

francaghostohollywood · 16/10/2009 16:59

what's the 's doing there?
