Happy Birthday MiniGio! Have a great party! Gio let us know the result of your cake.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 11/10/2009 10:07

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 11/10/2009 10:07

francaghostohollywood · 11/10/2009 10:26

He has re-emerged briefly.
By the way, we have friends for lunch (4 adults and 3 children, one of whose slept here last night)
The house is a mess, also because dd vomited in her bed (without waking up ... but managed to at least not vomiting over said friend ) and I'd really need help.

In a panic, I obviously hide my head in the sand on mn

francaghostohollywood · 11/10/2009 10:27

Pippi what pressies did you buy for the dd? I'm nicking ideas... actually I was thinking a sylvanian family thing for dd.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 11/10/2009 10:40

Oh poor you Franca! Mind you your description of youse sunday morning takes me back to my childhood I don't know why... maybe the sunday lunch think: the morning spent in pj and the last minute rush before guests were coming, the smell of cooking from the kitchen and table nicely laid.
Here instead is just the pj bit stretched till late aft !

LOL at vomited while asleep, my DB did that once, his face was covered with the stuff [yuk emoticon].

Well re xmas pressies: bigpippi want an orange scooter (not blue as her evil-pink-hating mum bought her) so I saw that mini micro lets you just buy the base so rather than get her a new one which is mad, I'll get that for £14 (no point in getting her a bigger scooter as she is a bit useless and has just gotten used to this). Minipippi wants a stokke chair like her sister to climb and kill herself. Then for both I got The 'Sui Monti con Annette' series in dvd', thought of snakes and ladder game or gioco dell'oca and a Mary Poppins cd to sing in the car.
I think that'll be plenty and enough as there's always loads from other people - usually tats that i won't buy. Hope I will stick to it and that the dd won't ask godknowswhat to babbonatale.

francaghostohollywood · 11/10/2009 10:54

I used to stay in my pj the whole sunday . Especially in my teens. And to you remember the sunday angst, when you knew you had to do homeworks (usually a translation from greek) and couldn't summon up the will/strength?

Btw, no nicely lay table at the moment. Still a mess, and not enough space. And I have to stendere now, as I had to wash dd's bed.
fdnjjgjkgoijwt!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 11/10/2009 11:00

Oh yes that sunday feeling... everything was slow and ovattato, no? There was nothing to do, at least in pg, except for compiti. Parents wanting to relax (what was that? Now I soooo get it!). Yes ... la versione ... maybe I'm going to go upstairs and open smemoranda 90/91 to go back in time .

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 11/10/2009 11:02

btwjust come to me that last night I dreamt of a little italy meet-up and def 'saw' you MM, long brown curlish hair!

JavierBardem · 11/10/2009 11:11

Happy birthday littlegio!

Camo, hope you are feeling better.... for you.

Penthe, how is it being back at work? Are you getting back your mojo? (is this the expression?)

Well done for doing your shopping for xmas? Anyone else can top that? Goodness is only October.

We are not getting anythingn big for dcs this xmas as ds does not play with big things, played with his train twice, actally once, 2nd time his mate played with it while he played snakes and ladders by himself. Did you try and ebay your train pippi? Did your dh buy it for himself or for the kids?

So far I have some story and music tapes and cds I picked up 2nd hand. He is really into listening to story tapes, maybe for your dcs franca? I bought 2 Sylvanian figurines for friend's child, so expensive and so Tiny!!!! Then books for ds, have to get him a mappamondo, pen and invisible ink,and making your own gory monstruosities iwth a Science Museum kit.

Having a quiet day, slept till 1030, woke up and my family was already out. Hurrah! I am going to hid in my bedroom when they come back. I want to be alone!!!

JavierBardem · 11/10/2009 11:15

Noooooo, MM has long black hair alla Nancy dell'Olio come tutte le Calabresi.

I imagined Pippi super super slim, verging on the anorexic, (not sure why as you always seem to be making cakes) with tumbling brown hair down to your bum, very very thick mascara.

ohhhh, my imagination.

JavierBardem · 11/10/2009 11:16

I cannot bear it when dp is ill, often an unexplained virus, loafing around as he is about to pop off. I still have to do everything when I am ill.

TheMysticMasseuse · 11/10/2009 11:37

[MM joins the thread, fluttering mascara-caked lashes, pouting, and tossing her long, wavy, brown locks]

girls, you make me laugh!!! i def have wavy curly hair (but not a-la Nancy, thanks Javier ), although just been to the hairdresser yesterday to have a substantial trim (so no longer very long) and for the first time colour due to crudelia demon streak whcih can no longer be hidden by parting on the left side. was blissful, actually, as no one ever told me you have to sit doing ntohing for one hour waiting for the colour to set! bliss!!!

now having major stepfordy moment as my mum is about to arrive (to look after dds while i go househunting in ch next week), so making roast, cleaning, tidying up etc. Dd2 out with her papa (imagine adoring toddler look while she says taht...), and dd1 playing doctor with her dolls.

gio, happy birthday to your ds!!! remind me how old he is? and did you rescue the cake?

Franca- manflu is the worst possible disease, i hate it when dh succumbs... i still remember my dad whenever he had a cold, taking to bed, all melodramatic, and asking my mum for a "tazza di brodo" in martyred tones

had to lol at vomiting in her sleep, with a friend in bed with her!

i have decided i shall not buy any xmas pressies for the dds this year [mean, cheap mother emoticon]- they always end up getting tons of stuff from their grandmothers and various relatives, and in the end it's a bit much i think. although dd1 has explicitly asked for a maschera da pirata, so will have to make sure she gets that...

TheMysticMasseuse · 11/10/2009 11:44

have to take dd to a party later on, it's in highgate, i have to drive... i am stressssssed. beyond stressssedeeddd....

Bucharest · 11/10/2009 13:48

Ach ach ach at Nancy.....she's from near here, y'know and everyone knows her (and confirms she's at least 10 yrs older than her official age....)

Happy Birthday Gio-let, hope the party prep went OK in the end!

Another puntata in the Soap Opera of my life coming up......at the birthday party on Friday, one of dd's nursery and now school friends...Naughty *'s Mother left his father- slap in the middle of the party- after telling our little group of Mums that he (a surgeon who looks like a toad) has been using his wallet considerable charms and good looks, to screw colleagues for years.....well, she just discovered he's been at it again, they'd had a blazing row Friday afternoon, then he came to the party to continue it (in the middle of a bouncy castle play centre!) and she took herself off, packed her bags and has disappeared! The babysitter brought the child to school yesterday, and a couple of friends have tried to call her but she isn't answering her mobile....

There was also, of course, great panic and consternation at the end of the party as all the children were sweating (well, durr) and all the mothers were hysterically screeching about the lethal effects of sudore...one even put her daughter in this hideous old lady silk headscarf thing to take her home Needless to say, we carried an exhausted (and copiously sweating) dd home in the fresh air and she's still here.

Bucharest · 11/10/2009 13:49

Re: Christmas presents- another good site is the Entertainer- great offers and you can use Paypal, so it's not even real money

JavierBardem · 11/10/2009 13:58

lol, kiddies' parties around her are just plain dull....even the children who live on Murder Mile have cosy and fluffy affairs..

oh, bloody hell, now when MM, you talk of your dp, I imagine Sven! I can feel a bit of detoxing coming up......

Rosa · 11/10/2009 14:20

YOu mean you let the children sweat ? ..Buch how could you that is terrible - you should have had them sitting down quietly reading Focus at 10 minute intervals.
MOst important DD had a good time did she get lots of pink tac?
at mother - poor child in the middle of it all.
Franca sorry about the vomit - how did she do it and not wake up ...was it a coughing fit ?
Man flu - deepest sympathy I can't cope with it it pi**es me off and he knows it but that ' pathetic I'm sick look' drives me even madder.
Good luck MM driving through London not my idea of fun for a Sunday ! Hope you don't have a chelsea tractor !
The Entertainer mmmmmmm will have a look but until we get the lowdown on what dh should be doing we are stuck and knowing the effin council they will tell us 24 hrs in advance . Bas*ards they really are

francaghostohollywood · 11/10/2009 19:17

Bucharest, what an eventful birthday party (but seriously, poor child caught in the middle of something so squalid)! And at the sweat. How could you?

We've had a very busy day (as we did yesterday)...(well dh was in bed feeling awful ), but we are now eating lovely take away pizza (not actually take away, I went to get it from ristorante) watching Asterix e i vichinghi.... oh I know, I know, not very educativo etc, we always have dinner together at the table etc etc... but I thought it is so lovely eating pizza in front of a movie once in a while!

Dd told me she actually dreamt she was vomiting and woke for 1 second, but thought she had just coughed and fell quickly back to sleep in her own, lovely, vomit. Poor little thing, she must have been knackered.

Javier, yes, story tapes we have quite a few, especially for the car. We have "A mille ce n'e' nel mio cuore di fiabe da narrar" and some english ones (the incredible mister fox and charlie and the chocolate factory)

Have you got any suggestion, I could buy on amazon? It needs to be in a very posh clear English, as otherwise I they struggle a bit to understand.

I used to imagine Pippi with long curly hair too! Weird!

Masseuse, I love having my colour done, and reading gossip mags. It doesn't happen as often as I'd like though.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 11/10/2009 20:27

LOL at the image you had of me!

Camo Hope it is better. I am sorry I cannot offer any help as I stopped a lot earlier than you and was quite relieved tbh.

Cross with computer as with new window vista I cannot find anything and I am unable to open the cd/dvd/programs I put in. . any geek help is highly appreciated.

minipippi teething terribly trying to rip cheek off .

francaghostohollywood · 11/10/2009 20:36

I also remember you saying you met your dh in the swimming pool, so I thought you went swimming every day. Why? boh!

No idea about window vista, i have a mac and generally am crap with computers/technology.

Sorry to hear about dd2's teething.

I know what you mean pippi, I bf ds until he was 10 months, (so a bit later than the 6 months I had in mind) and was very relieved, I must say.

JavierBardem · 11/10/2009 20:38

Isn't it rude the word sputtanare in Italian? Just heard Berlusca using it.

Breastfed for about 5 minutes and even then found it a pita, so cannot help.

Geeky stuff: know nothing and I AM PROUD! Dp is in charge of this stuff.

francaghostohollywood · 11/10/2009 20:42

Yes, it's a parolaccia, not the first time he says one . Did you hear what he said to rosy bindi?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 11/10/2009 20:47

could you ask dp then? [desperate emoticon as cannot get pictures from mobile]

oh btw saw pat pat on berlusca's head ROFL!

I DID go swimming everyday!!! That was in my previous life, when I lived in peace with cat in my lovely flat, reading in bed every night and chatting with friends and out and about as I pleased.
