lol at Brunetta and Vada a morire ammazzata. WTF? And this is a minister? [puke emoticon]. No, Italy makes me shudder.

Camomilla · 20/09/2009 20:58

don't get me worng, it's far better here, in so far as it's not palese, just in front of you, but then you have girls who aspire to be a pg 3 model, same as their italian counterparts want to be veline.

TheMysticMasseuse · 20/09/2009 20:59

i think women's situation here is a million time better. it has helped me a lot to deal with things like self confidence, body image etc. i frankly find that the tette e culi and yes, the fact that men can get away with being so leechy and disrespectful makes me puke... and it seeps through. my very intelligent italian girlfriends all act a bit more silly and galline than my english ones...

Yes, it makes everyone shudder. Shame that there is a good rate of people who are different, but impotenti. Or not?

Camomilla · 20/09/2009 21:01

do you think it's also because the vatican still has such a strong grip on italian politics/culture?

francagoestohollywood · 20/09/2009 21:03

Yes, there is a particularly irritating Italian way of being a gallina that has always grated me.

McCloudsextoy · 20/09/2009 21:04

i had a friend who worked as an extra at la Rai, this was in the 80s, she was basically propositioned left, right and centre by men there, promises of sex for work were made. and she was really treated harshly for not shagging around. a man in a lift touched her bum, i am sure the bbc is not like this [i feel protective about the bbc emoticon].

if my daughter wanted to become a presenter on italian telly, i would faint and disinherit her and question my parenting. i would support her if she wanted to do it here, still warning her that as a woman she may have to work harder and be discriminated and patronised.

Camomilla · 20/09/2009 21:04

McC, it's started, I'll watch it later

francagoestohollywood · 20/09/2009 21:05

I remember the 1970s as being very "feminist" yrs in Italy. Where've all those women gone?
Last yr I went to a demo in front of the mangiagalli to save our abortion law and I was one of the youngest WTF?
I blame Berlusconi. And the Vatican. ANd a piccola borghesia with no morals, really

francagoestohollywood · 20/09/2009 21:06

in defense of, not to save

McCloudsextoy · 20/09/2009 21:07

I will watch it on the laptop later. For example the idea of Mr Mc leeching over a woman!!!!. He would never! (well, if i were the woman, i would not mind )

LOL, at being gallina. Do you find intelligent men also more leechy in Italy?

Camomilla · 20/09/2009 21:09

similar thing McC, a friend went to Rome to try it on tv, she went to a mtg with ( can't remember now) and te first thing he did was taking ALL her clothes off to see if she'd be suitable!

schoolmate at liceo was known amongst the sfigate like me as "x-gallina" - for interrogazioni di storia/italiano/latino (same male teacher) she'd always wear micro-skirt with lacey thong sticking out!

McCloudsextoy · 20/09/2009 21:10

Where are the daughter of those feminist women? Why aren't their daughters out there on demos? Did they rebel by becoming veline?

francagoestohollywood · 20/09/2009 21:10

Oh I don't know mcc. I think I led a very sheltered life. None of my male friends is leechy. No one of my female friends is a typical gallina.
I've come across some leechy men of course. You can tell them to fuck off though.

Camomilla · 20/09/2009 21:11

yes, think they think they can patronise better so sbavare more

francagoestohollywood · 20/09/2009 21:12

Boh! Perhaps these women started to convert in the craxi era

francagoestohollywood · 20/09/2009 21:13

At the moment I'm sbavando at keanu reeves as a surfista. Is it wrong?

TheMysticMasseuse · 20/09/2009 21:13

a friend of mine me a famous "critico d'arte" (vomit emoticon- i think you can guess who it is) at a work do. he was so insistent in propositioning her she had to ask the carabinieri to accompany her home...

OP posts:
Camomilla · 20/09/2009 21:14

oh, franca, I'd be there after PS AND KR

Camomilla · 20/09/2009 21:15

McCloudsextoy · 20/09/2009 21:16

Franca, yes, you are allowed to sbavare at Keanu. But if your husband was sbavando at Sandra Bullock....then he would be a LEECH!

Mm do you mean VS?

Camomilla · 20/09/2009 21:16

McCloudsextoy · 20/09/2009 21:19

francagoestohollywood · 20/09/2009 21:23
