but I beat him to it today

we re leaving dd in house-aaargh!

janeite · 31/07/2009 17:40

I haven't before but now I've read this, I probably shall! Dp always vacuums (why?!) before we go and I wipe out the fridge.

CybilLiberty · 31/07/2009 17:41

Yes always. And down plug holes.

Do you unplug all sockets?

And leave curtains in an 'they might be home, they might not' position to baffle burglars?

claricebeansmum · 31/07/2009 17:43

I do the baffle burglar curtains thing.

Hadn't even thought about hoovering and stuff but suppose it makes sense!

brimfull · 31/07/2009 17:44

I do bugger all cleaning really

thn get depressed when I come home

CybilLiberty · 31/07/2009 17:44

Do you leave lamps on. I do then worry they will catch light.

yes yes I know I should invest in a timer.

I think you can get one that swishes your curtains across for you.

Perhaps a cardboard cut out at the window would be ok

brimfull · 31/07/2009 17:48

cardboard people partying into the night would be good

PestoSoggyMonster · 31/07/2009 17:49

I do too.

scrappydappydoo · 31/07/2009 17:52

Yep - clean house top to bottom - Its lovely coming home to a clean house and not that sinking feeling when you walk in on a mess

GrungeBlobPrimpants · 31/07/2009 18:03

Oh yes

It's the only way to get rid of the past 10 months accumulated crud

Turn off the water at mains too (we once came back to water tank contents dripping through ceiling)

Seeline · 31/07/2009 18:07

I don't belive in tidying before we go - it's my burgler deterant. I reckon anyone casing the joint would assume someone else had got there first and turned the place over

BadgersArse · 31/07/2009 18:08

oh i clean till its spotless so you arent disappointed

upstairs done
kitchen awaits

Love coming home to tidy house. I like to do all the ironing as well.

My ultimate bliss is to do all the holiday washing whilst still on holiday then I just whip it out of the suitcase, iron and put away.[/sad]

I had a deeply interesting conversation with the owner of our gite in Bergerac about her washing machine, spin-speeds and how the air-er folded that boggled my dh as she spoke no English and my French is poor. We both spoke the international language of laundry.

BadgersArse · 31/07/2009 18:44

you are a saddo re doing it on holiday

OP posts:
GeneHunt · 31/07/2009 18:46

I like to think that if Customs ever demand that I open my suitcase they will be v. impressed and possibly give me a special award.

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 31/07/2009 18:47

Yup sadly and we spend all the day before cleaning - i hate the days before a holiday though love comig home to a clean house.

GwarchodwrPlant · 31/07/2009 18:53

Nope- my holiday starts before we go away. It's a bit sad doing your holiday washing whilst you're on holiday GH! Do you keep all your shoes in labelled boxes too?

GeneHunt · 31/07/2009 18:55

Of course, with a photo on the front.
