GeneHunt · 31/07/2009 18:57

Supper in freezer very good idea. I usually like to waft into the 24hr Tesco at midnight looking tired yet tanned to get milk and bread.

karala · 31/07/2009 19:01

and I change the bed linen so we come back to lovely beds

MaureenMLove · 31/07/2009 19:02

House all spit spot here too. Just the sheets to do, which I will do, as I turf DH out of bed on Sunday morning, at the crack of sparrow shit!

I'm buggered if the weather is rubbish and I can't get it out on the line! Always leave the bed turned down and ready for my home coming too!

I don't do the curtains, I switch the burglar alarm on and the neighbours pop in a pull curtains for me!

BadgersArse · 31/07/2009 19:07

I have a house/cat sitter

(my mum )

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 31/07/2009 19:09

I might just leave a list of these jobs for my house sitter to do in exchange for free rent!

FourArms · 31/07/2009 19:20

I bleach loos and plug holes too.

Love doing washing whilst away and coming back with none! Sometimes we stop in at my mum's or MIL's on the way back and do all the washing (before being drowned in domesticity again!) so I don't have it to do at home. Would def consider a trip to a launderette otherwise!

Like to leave house tidy. Sometimes just leave it in a tip in an effort to actually get going!

whomovedmychocolate · 31/07/2009 19:26

BadgersArse 'I get neighbours to park on my drive to fox'

Ah, but then you risk them misunderstanding and dogging on your doorstep

I wouldn't do the bleach thing as cat is left at home and would drink from toilet (yes he can raise the seat )

GeneHunt · 31/07/2009 19:27

We do travel very light, we take two very small suitcases for a family of 4 and one of them had loads of sheet music and books in. Washing actually necessary in our case.

Have lovely hols, all! I shall think of you all as I do my ironing whilst listening to the rain hammer down.

brimfull · 31/07/2009 19:29

you are all barking

MrsWeasley · 31/07/2009 19:31

I do the bleach thing but I also leave a note asking any burglers to tidy up

BadgersArse · 31/07/2009 19:38

when my Mum was burgled she was very proud he was so tidy.
reckoned he was the Raffles of the south coast.

When my mum was burgled it took a while to work out if anything had been taken - think the police thought the burglers had ransacked the house but sadly it was my mums lack of interest in anything related to housekeeping

moshie · 31/07/2009 19:42

My family - parents and siblings - once wanted to use my garden for a barbecue when we were away because there was family visiting from Australia. I said yes if you vacuum from top to bottom after you.
House was much cleaner to come home to that year than it usually is.

GrapefruitMoon · 31/07/2009 19:44

Dh just doesn't "get" the wanting to clean and tidy before we go - though I must say I love it when a good friend feeds the cats as I can be a bit slacker about the state of the house - if it's someone I don't know so well I get very stressed!

moondog · 31/07/2009 19:46

I don't use bleach as am smug hippie but yes, yes yes to cleaning.
Being here in Bangladesh it gives me little frissons of pleasure to know my house is sparkling clean to get back to in September.

I lie on the sunbed and every now and again put aside my lime & soda and magazine and sigh with intense satisfaction.

Northernlurker · 31/07/2009 19:51

I don't usually have time to clean, only to pack for five - which involves processing the laundry mountain. However this year I am determined to crack it and have actually remembered to book the day off as well before we go so that I can get ready properly. We do the bleach thing - this year I'm going to wipe out the fridge too!
