Bored bored bored today.
Dh has car.

Tis my Birthday on Monday. What could we do? Ds suggests we go for a meal at a very posh restaurant where he will have fish and chips and coke. DD thinks we should go to a playbarn
Dh and his Dad are buying me a bike. I'm not sure I can ride it but dh believes it is going to solve my back problems and make me healthy and fit. I suppose we could go for a bike ride.

lyraSilvertongue · 27/08/2009 17:12

Lovely day today here. Do you remember DS2's accident with the pony? Well the owner of the pony felt so bad about it that she brought the pony to our house as well as lots of other animals. We invited some of DSs' friends round and they all had pony rides on the park opposite our house.
Then they all came back to ours and took turns handling the snakes, bearded dragon (DS2's favourite), skunk (de-scented thankfully), gecko and meerkat (very smelly).
They all absolutely loved it and the owner was so nice.
Then we went out for a pub lunch.
Last night DP took me out for dinner in a very posh restaurant in central London. Think works of art on a plate. Delicious, even the snails! (it was French). Much wine was consumed
Tomorrow DP goes back to hospital to finally have his surgery, unless it gets cancelled again. Apparently there's a 1/100 chance of dying.

oggsfrog · 27/08/2009 17:18

Could you all ride your bikes to the very posh restaurant... then push them home

I'm no use at all as I don't really celebrate birthdays (other than dd's of course), and dh and I haven't been out for a meal on our own for about 15 years.

You could request breakfast in bed then all go out for a day together. Have a nice pub lunch if weather is nice then pick up a takeaway on the way home so's you don't have to cook.

Sounds like a lovely day Lyra

Try not to worry too much about dp. I hope everything goes well and that he gets sorted out.
What is the 1/100 chance related to, and who told you? Is it the specific type of surgery that he is having or the GA?
How long will he be in for?

He should only be in overnight. He still plans to go back to work on Monday
Not sure what the statistic is based on. A cardiac nurse told him this.

Berrie · 27/08/2009 18:23

Gosh, it's great fun round yours Lyra. Was the posh meal a last supper?

Berrie · 27/08/2009 18:23

Hope it all goes well.

Berrie · 27/08/2009 18:53

Is it too early to open wine? Kids are in bed...

lyraSilvertongue · 27/08/2009 19:45

Mine's open so therefore not too early
Yes, kind of a last meal. He's going to have to change his eating habits once he's had his heart sorted out, so no more of the rich food and gallons of beer. Lots of veg and oily fish.

lyraSilvertongue · 27/08/2009 19:47

I'll check out FX tonight once DP's in bed. He's got to be at the hospital super early so he's having an early night.

Berrie · 27/08/2009 20:31

Checked it for you earlier Lyra...can't see any catch ups. Might have to send you a disc. Better send me your address.

Berrie · 27/08/2009 20:31

Are you worried?

lyraSilvertongue · 27/08/2009 21:07

Do you mind? That would be a lot easier.
A little worried, but DP keeps playing it down. I don't know if that's just him not wanting a fuss though. The hospital is nearly two hours away so there's unlikely to be any visiting either.

oggsfrog · 28/08/2009 07:45

Will be thinking of you both today Lyra. I hope it all goes smoothly.

He's at the hospital already (not our local one as they don't have the right cardiac specialists or something). Mobile off so I have no idea what's happening. I feel bad that he's had to go on his own. If he is scared, he's got no-one there with him.

Berrie · 28/08/2009 09:54

Fingers crossed. Thinking about you.
I'll get dh to burn a disc tonight.

MatthewBellamysMuse · 28/08/2009 14:21

Thanks Berrie. I'll try to set aside a day for a True Blood-fest.
No word from DP yet. Presumably he gave them my number in case anything goes wrong.
I'm off into town in a bit to meet my sister for dinner with the children at Shoreditch House. Like Soho House but in Shoreditch.

Berrie · 28/08/2009 14:51

Hope you have a lovely time. Dh has just gone to get my new bike!

MatthewBellamysMuse · 28/08/2009 15:07

DP just rang. He's in a taxi on his way home. Apparently his heart's fine. No need for the angioplasty. But in doing the angiogram, they cut a nerve which means he's in a lot of pain so he'll be immobile for a couple of days.
They reckon the problems he's been having (apart from the initial heart-attack-like episode) is gastric and not cardiac. So all this for nothing. Bloody NHS.
What kind of bike are you getting Berrie? I've started riding DP's recently and discovered that it's actually great fun and excellent exercise.

Berrie · 28/08/2009 15:37

Eh? How did they not figure this out before? I just don't understand how you get as far as surgery...

Do they think he has an ulcer or gall stones? Is it back to the GP or will they pass him on at the hospital?

Er...a road bike rather than a mountain bike. I wanted the turqoise one but it was not as comfortable as the black one which is more sit up and beg. I want a basket for the front now. (not that I'll make it up the hill to the shops)

Berrie · 28/08/2009 15:38

I just need to move somewhere flatter with nicer places to cycle now...too many bloody hills here.

Berrie · 28/08/2009 15:38

Send me your address Lyra.

MatthewBellamysMuse · 28/08/2009 16:13

I know. How do you go from angina to gastric troubles. They think it may be reflux, which he had years ago but it went away.
I'll email you my address now, then I really must get going. Long bus/tube journey to east London.

oggsfrog · 28/08/2009 19:50

Hope you had a lovely lunch Lyra and that dp is now home safe and sound.
My brother and I suffer with very bad reflux and it can be awful. Lets hope it is something that can be sorted easily.

I have almost finished The Host and have just ordered City of Bones. Looks good.

Berrie, I used to have a proper black sit-up-and-beg bike with a basket . I can't ride the one I have now because of my buggered knee.

Have bought wine, got the fire going and promised dh that he can have the only comfy chair in this room so we will be watching True Blood tonight. Will let you know how we get on .
