welcome!

well done Camo! Are you sure we don't share the same FIL
ds is being a royal PITA at the moment! He is bored being at home because his childminder is away, which I have sympathy with as can't be much fun with me having to work. But its tantrum after tantrum at the moment. He has always been a nightmare sleeper but he is outdoing himself at the moment. Sleeps through when it finally happens but yesterday he was bouncing up and down on the bed at 10.30!!!. After being put down at 9 initially .Oh I can't wait for my holiday!

francagoestohollywood · 23/06/2009 12:24

Ciao a tutte, we are back!
Hope everything is fine with you all, and camo, well done for having survived your fil stay !

We had a lovely time, even though the weather hasn't been as friendly as we hoped, so I don't really have a tan I can be proud of

The foot: it is still very sore but si e' sgonfiato. I spoke on the phone to an ortopedico who said it might be artrite and it might be cause by gout (gotta) . How decadent is that? Tomorrow I'm off to queue at my gp.

So, here is a brief resume of our holiday:
Trieste is fantastic. Great food. We also went to see the grotte di postumia in slovenia, which I recommend.
Rovigno, Parenzo and the parco naturale on the tip of the premantura peninsula are amazing. We also loved Savudrija, where our friends took us to a great fish restaurant.
On our way back to Italy we drove through slovenia in the valley of the river Isonzo, which is another thing I really recommend doing.
June is really a great month to travel, not busy at all, apart for middle aged Germans, with very organized campervans. I noticed that having portable satellite dishes is the done thing in croatian camping sites

welcome back franca! yes, 24hrs and I'll finally breathe! but IME, the big arguments always happen in the last day

seems gout is quite common! I've always associated it with old men, but you're the 3rd person who's mentioned it recently

My parents often goes to slovenia for the day, normally to fish restaurants, and they're always very pleased! Glad you had a good time!

oh, oh, smelly bum requires my attention... (not my smelly bum!)

francagoestohollywood · 23/06/2009 14:07

Yes, I've always associated it to old, wealthy men in the xviii century... but apparently it is a genetic disease. I hope it is not my case, as I don't want to stop eating meat and drink alcohol!

Welcome back Franca, glad you had a good time
Not so good about the foot though.

francagoestohollywood · 23/06/2009 21:39

Hello sputnik. How are things? Have you won another design competition? I've just finished having a look at estate agents websites, but there is nothing....

OP posts:
Sputnik · 23/06/2009 21:50

No, I'm resting on my laurels!
Househunting is depressing isn't it. Probably nothing will move til september now.

We went to the new house at the weekend to try and prepare for painting, it was really hard to do anything with DCs in tow.

francagoestohollywood · 23/06/2009 21:59

How exciting you are starting to paint! What colours are you going for?
I want a flat to decorate too!
But yes, you are right, probably nothing new will come up before september.
Ds got his first pagella today!

OP posts:
Sputnik · 23/06/2009 22:10

Well we managed to pull out about half the stops and picture hooks, so don't hold your breath!
It'll be mostly white, but our bedroom will have 1 purplish wall. The bathroom has grey tiles to about head height, it really needs cheering up so 50cm from there to ceiling will be some bright colour. Any suggestions?

francagoestohollywood · 23/06/2009 22:19

A light blue or if you want to be really bold, a really acid green?
Or a pink?

OP posts:
Sputnik · 23/06/2009 22:32

Hmm blue was my first thought. Pink was the second but DH laughed. Acid green is an idea. I was thinking towels and bathmat in (different) bright colours. God it is cheerless, the tiles are nearly white but just look dirty. The grouting is all discoloured, but apparently bicarb of soda can clean that (thanks MN). I am looking forward to trying, how sad is that?

francagoestohollywood · 23/06/2009 22:34

Lol !
I think pink is gorgeous in bathrooms! But I suppose also my dh would disagree. Acid green/grey tiles/purple towels?

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 23/06/2009 22:35

Cerulean blue/grey tiles/bright green towels?
I'm on a roll now!

OP posts:
Camomilla · 23/06/2009 22:39

I'd probably go for sky blue, sputnik.

Wow, first pagella! what a milestone!!!!

just have a craving for proper gelateria coconut icecream... got this nice scrub/crams set from tesco and it just smells of suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper yummy coconut icecream...........

ps - no arguments!!!! ok, we've still got tomorrow morning.... but it's a miracle!!

Penthesileia · 23/06/2009 22:41

Ciao everyone, and welcome back, franca!

Sorry I've not posted for agggeeeess: I somehow lost the thread, and then my internet connection has been craptastic this week, so everytime I've logged on to MN, I've managed one post or so to whatever thread caught my eye on active convos before losing my connection. Grrr. Bloody BT. Plus for the past couple of nights, DD has had a cold and has been unable to sleep unless propped up in the crook of my arm so MN-ing has been difficult...

Cerulean blue sounds nice!

LOL @ smelly bum!

Penthesileia · 23/06/2009 22:42

Forza, Camomilla!

Sputnik · 23/06/2009 22:42

Tiles are more white than grey, in fact the other bathroom has properly grey tiles and they look much better. No window in there though.
Hmm, blue/green could be nice. Think DH would veto acid green. Also possibly not very flattering first thing in the morning.

francagoestohollywood · 23/06/2009 22:45

No, you are right re acid green, though I'd be tempted...
Hi Penthe, how are you?
Hei camo, you are nearly there !

OP posts:
Camomilla · 23/06/2009 22:46

we used to have 2 bathrooms back home, one pink (still my parents'), one white (now in my brother's flat), anyway, this little boy I used to babysit (now catwalk model material...) refused to use the pink bathroom as it was for girls

Penthesileia · 23/06/2009 22:47

Hi franca. Glad your holiday was fun. Not too bad, thanks. Interviewing nannies from Friday... Fingers crossed and all that.

Acid green bathroom probably a bit much for blurry old me in the morning. Though thinking about it it would certainly wake you up!

Sputnik · 23/06/2009 22:48

Hi Camo and Penthe
So, how was this pagella?

Penthesileia · 23/06/2009 22:49

What's a pagella [stupid].

Camomilla · 23/06/2009 22:51

thinking about it, when friends moved in their first house they had a "lovely" avocado suite, so they tried to modernise it by painting the whole bathroom and accessorising it with acid green, including towels. I tell you, not very good to realx (we had to stay there for a couple of weeks) and definetly not good when you had a bit too much to drink!!

Sputnik · 23/06/2009 22:51

Like a report, no?

Camomilla · 23/06/2009 22:52

yes, like a report
