welcome!

OP posts:
Penthesileia · 09/08/2009 13:58

I saw that thread too, Pippi!

Oooh - am Rosa! I would like to go the beach.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying their summer holidays, etc.

McCloudsextoy · 09/08/2009 20:21

oh, thank you for thinking of me. I still think I can so easily see myself shagging MC, and afterwards discussing the lay out of my house, pro and cons of building an extension....it would be so satisfying and productive, i am sure dp would not mind....=

McCloudsextoy · 09/08/2009 20:22

Have you moved Penthe?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 09/08/2009 20:27

hey McC finalmente ci troviamo. I should be reading 'Sophie'...

I am knackered today, and hungry. The house is a mess. But kids in bed so not all is lost.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 09/08/2009 20:32

yes penthe what's new? How are you feeling?

Penthesileia · 09/08/2009 22:50

Feeling ok, thanks very much! Nanny starts tomorrow (afternoon only). Am nervous, but hopeful.

We still haven't moved. The roof is not yet fixed.

Still haven't finished reading Sophie's Choice, although I was enjoying it. Got sidetracked by "Bad Science". And BBC iPlayer. There was a thread running about films that have haunted you, and I was reminded about the miserable story in store in Sophie's Choice. Not exactly comfortable bed-time reading. That said, in my frivolous way, I was thinking, as I read about Nathan and Sophie's tumultuous relationship that it sounded a bit like an MN Relationships thread, on which everyone would pile on, screaming: "DUMP HIM! He is an abuser!" And give links to Women's Aid...

It was my birthday today! I am 31 years old young.

McCloudsextoy · 10/08/2009 09:01

lol at reading Sophie and thinking of a Mumsnet thread!

McCloudsextoy · 10/08/2009 09:02

31 is sooooo young.....

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 10/08/2009 09:58

BUON COMPLEANNOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Yup I totally agree about the sophie's thread, that is exactly what I am screaming at the book at the mo! The film haunted me too, although I have never watched it, through what my mum has told me about it - it definitely haunted her! So although I know what to expect I don't know how to ifkwim.

I love school holiday - it is so nice to be lazy and grubby all day, no?
cannot understand those who cram a million of activities for their kids.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 10/08/2009 09:59

even like this we seem to be busy almost every day.

McCloudsextoy · 10/08/2009 10:24

agree, love school hols too, we try to have an outing every few days, for my benefit and ds'. Today relaxing at home and trip to the park. Have sent you anohter email pippi with pics.

Can you clever ladies tell me what are the best novels of V. Woolf?

Why does Sophie stay with Nathan? Because she is self-destructive? Who played Nathan in the movie I wonder?

Rosa · 10/08/2009 15:40

Auguri .....If only I was 10 years younger !!!!!!!! Baci have to run baby awake

Sputnik · 10/08/2009 22:36

Happy birthday Penthe!

I hope you all have some champagne handy, because I have finished painting our flat! I did the whole thing myself apart from the corridor in the end as DH has been busy farting around with installing the kitchen (still far from finished, I could probably paint it all over again). Anyway, that's done, now I can clean up and get on with assembling more furniture and it might possibly be ready by the end of the month, if we can find a plumber to connect the gas. Not easy in Rome in august.

Penthesileia · 10/08/2009 22:51

Thanks for birthday wishes.

Sputnik - hurrah! Am v. impressed. And . DH won't let me have a go at painting in our new place. Doesn't trust me.

Well, nanny did her first afternoon today. DD was fine, so long as I was there, but both times I left the room, she broke instantly into tears and wailed. I'm hoping that as she gets used to the nanny, this will improve...

Sputnik · 10/08/2009 23:07

It's early days yet with the nanny. Both mine have found it difficult at first going to nursery, and cried when I left. They get over it eventually. Should be easier with 1 on 1 situation.
It's really gut-wrenching though.

My wretched "D"S, having woken me at 5am (as great preparation for a day up a ladder painting in 35° heat and 95% humidity), fell asleep in the car on the way home, woke up and is now refusing to go back to sleep after over an hour of me trying. He did the same thing the other day and didn't go to sleep until 2am. I want to SLEEEEEP.....

Penthesileia · 10/08/2009 23:11

Ugh, Sputnik: that's exhausting. Fingers crossed for you that he goes to sleep soon.

If it's any consolation (misery loves company ), I have also started every day for the past week at about 5.30. Wa-hey...

Sputnik · 10/08/2009 23:25

He did that for ages, only stopped when I stopped feeding him at night or in the morning.

I am not going to waste time trying to get him to sleep yet, he is watching Baby Einstein while I MN

Penthesileia · 13/08/2009 13:02

LOL - this thread really is Little Italy - shutting down in August!

Hope everyone is having a good time. The sun is shining here, for a change!

Sputnik · 13/08/2009 21:29

I am posting from our new house!
We foolishly decided to sleep here in order to go to the beach, but it's bloody hot!
Anyway the kid's room is sort of usable and we built the sofabed today, so using that. I have an electric ring and a coffee machine for tomorrow morning, so the essentials are in place. Still no kitchen to speak of though.
Anyway, beach tomorrow and then saturday we are off to SIL's place in Tuscany, so probably won't be around.

Penthesileia · 13/08/2009 23:11

Have a great day at the beach, you lucky things!

McCloudsextoy · 14/08/2009 10:08

Lucky thing Sputnick!

Sputnik · 14/08/2009 21:02

Well it was half a day, then back to building wardrobes, but we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Got to my favourite restaurant too, right on the beach.
Hope the sunny weather is holding for you lot.

McCloudsextoy · 16/08/2009 21:47

can anyone tell me what they thought of this recipe

INGREDIENTI PER QUATTRO PERSONE:

Mezzi rigatoni: 400 grammi
Radicchio; un ceppo
Pancetta tesa affumicata : 300 grammi
Gorgonzola dolce: 250 grammi
Scalogno: uno medio
Vino bianco: una sfumatura
Panna liquida: mezzo bicchiere
Olio evo: q. b.
Sale: q. b.

PREPARAZIONE:

And off to rest in bed after a shocking 2 hours on the net! but only 5 mins on mnet

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 16/08/2009 22:26

Un sacco di lavoro!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 16/08/2009 22:31

PS I am going to start the Alice Munro you have given me, to clean myself up from that disappointing sophie's choice. bah.

sputnik I am very envious of seaside trip, not of wardrobes .

off to bed.
ciao
