I've read that Rosa. Was good. Was that your beach reading? Actually come to think of it you probably didn't get much reading done with 7 month old and 4 year old.
Are you home?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 27/06/2009 20:20

hello girls! I am back. A quick hello before I go to bed... had sleepless night on plane. Catch up soon, hope you all allright .

Sputnik · 27/06/2009 20:22

Bentornata Pippi, was wondering when you were back

Rosa · 27/06/2009 20:24

Yes we are back - until we slope off to the mountains . Huge storm as we were packing / leaving and the roof leaked in the apt so we said tara mate and sorry not cleaning the kitchen as its dangerous and off we went - DH and I got soaked as in soaked we both had wet trousers when we arrived home. DH went back to get the bags later and washing machine is going strong.
Holiday reading was actually the follow up to Pillars of the earth - World without end . I read in the pm on the terrace and in bed - I was in bed at 9 !!! I hardly turned the Tv on - bliss .

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 27/06/2009 20:42

Just a quicky to say that I managed to read 2 (great) books (suggested by McL). More than I expected and have made resolution to abandon dh to his beloved tv and go and read somewhere else. A,lready failed today.

going now.

Rosa LOL. bad bit of the hol is the amount of laundry to be done. must say I enjoyed the hotel bit as I did not do anything. Felt old and bored/ing by week one though, so we went in search of more adventure. Another future no nos is sharing a room with the children...what kind of a holiday is it????????????????? [hmmm]

Camomilla · 27/06/2009 20:55

Hi everyone, welcome back Rosa and Pippi.

Reading? what's that?!?! lucky you! as my holiday is at home, well, it's not really hols, is it.... next year we MUST have a proper holiday somewhere hot but not in italy!

Anyway, tonsillitis back again, yuppi! 4th time since december, so now have bad stomach cramps from the antib, but at least I can swallow, feels like a golf ball as suppose to a tennis ball in my throat.

on the plus, I finally received my TT tickets for next week!

Rosa · 28/06/2009 13:15

My washing machine has said BASTA !!!
I have 2 loads on the lines - no more space the stendino inside is full but I will iron tonight and then the rest can wait !
We were all in the same room al mare but it had a half wall so actually ok- mind you dh was shattered going back and forth that he stayed in vce a bit .In Montagna it is all in one room again as we have nonna Uk who is ok folks - she has a bump to head but nothing serious and a bit of a sore foot but she will be fine for story reading and baby holding -Phew.
I am going to the second hand bookshop later to get a book for the mountains then when we get to the Uk we have the library ....Again there am in bed at 9 so can read . At home I always find something to do and then drop into bed !

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 29/06/2009 14:30

yes Rosa have a fab time. Hope you can find time to relax.

how hot is it here?

Sputnik · 29/06/2009 16:17

Have a great time Rosa.
It keeps raining here! I am enjoying this english weather, we actually went for a walk yesterday!

Sputnik · 29/06/2009 22:45

Enjoyed it a bit less today: drove 20 minutes to the supermarket, sat in the carpark for 15 minutes watching the diluvio and contemplating the impossibility of getting both DCs out of the car without everyone getting totally soaked, then drove home again.

gio71 · 01/07/2009 07:33

welcome back holiday people. How's your throat Camo? Question for Italy based people, any idea if and where I can get a ped egg over here? I have read v positive things on MN and my feet need sorting!

francagoestohollywood · 01/07/2009 08:10

What's a ped egg?

It is getting very hot up here, despite the occasional storm. Luckily it cools down a bit at night, not sure how long this will last though.
I gather it's hot in the uk too as there are lots of threads on MN complaining about the heat... I looked on the newspaper and it said London: min 15 max 27...

Pippi how was your holiday? Or are you and Mccloud "detoxing"

OP posts:
gio71 · 01/07/2009 09:04

this is it Franca-have found and bought on ebay. shop.ebay.it/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=ped+egg&_nd1=See-All-Categories
I was watching Sky news the other day when people were being interviewed about the heat and how it is a bit too hot and at night it is a sultry 15 degrees so is hard to sleep
Although granted UK houses aren't built for the heat so do tend to bake like ovens.

Bucharest · 01/07/2009 09:07

Hello all.....
Last 2 days here before go off to UK for the summer....dd finished nursery forever yesterday and I cried all morning...when the little bus came for her,.when I went up there with my friend to salutare...when the cook and the nun kissed us...when the bus brought her back....ended up with rabbit-flu eyes and had to put camomile teabags on them....
Weather been very changeable here...which has been good as it means the bloody disco on the beach opposite hasn't been able to open until 2 am every night. Trouble is, it's now hot and sunny, so tonight might be the night.....
Hope everyone is well, and enjoying holiday time!

Camomilla · 01/07/2009 09:58

lol bucharest!

Throat better, well it would be better if I'd remember to take all the tablets every day... can't believe people are complaining about the heat though, it's not as if we get weeks of it! haven't had much chance of MNing as DD not really sleeping in the day, plus for the last 3 nights she stays up with us till 10 or even later - our bedroom is cold in the winter and hot in the summer obviously, and the lounge is fresher so she just spends an hour crawling around til I give her the remote control (minus the batteries) so she lies down and "changes" channels and hopefully falls asleep.

my feet were terrible, would have felt embarassed going for a pedi, so done it myself, lots of soaking and good foot file from tesco, think I did 3-4 soaks/file, probably an hour, including long first soak while eating a solero and filing and varnishing nails, but my feet are still lovely and soft a week later

as I was saying.... DD still refusing to sleep and attempting to dismantle cot as we speak...

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 01/07/2009 14:28

Ciao a tutte!
Hello everybody. Yes a bit of detoxing, enjoying the weather, reading, doing masses of laundry etc

Holiday was great. Very relaxing. Bit boring by the end of it and we felt very old and pensioners but was okay for this year with riot dd2. Next year it'll be more adventurous. Very of your holiday franca. sounded absolutely fantastic. That's something we'd like to do. But from the few car trip we did it's good it wasn;t this year. we had lots of 'are we there yet' and mini-hudini working the car strap and popping out .

love the weather. not too hot at all. only in the car but who cares. had to laugh at some threads that suggested putting pillows in fridge and sleeping on wet sheets... these stuff are for proper mediterranean solleone not this gentle heat.

as both children in bed I'm going to sit outside and get a tan.

franca I have found my copy of sophie's choice, if you bare with me it'll be my next book.

later....

Rosa · 01/07/2009 14:59

Here its lovely breakfast in the stube is good its Eu10 though so not sure how many dayys will do but dd whois free ate loads !!!!!
Weather iffy this pm but lovely am and we went up chairlift.
Humid in Venice before I lefy 98% but not too bad as it was only 25 deg ish . I agree a bit OTT about Uk temps I recall summer 2006 was a hot one as well.....
Right have to do Sainsbos online shopping for DDs as Nonno UK can't cope with nappies , milk and baby food. But I can't get Omegenizato (SP) in the Uk only things like cottage pie and hot pots which I don't want I do my own veg and then add meat - I will start doing my ownand pureeing it etc but wanted some to tide me over boh!!!
Ped egg never heard of it but I need something as after beach feet mega dry and scholl cream not working,
Baci to all from mountains - I have promised dh I will be good and not grumpy from Sept - next June if he treats us to hols like this yearly.... Joking apart we did get some bargains!
Buch- I was the same with d nido but I have minirosa to go there.......

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 01/07/2009 15:19

dd1 cried today thinking about nursery finishing... I think I'll be next.

Rosa I am a bit jealous...

Sputnik · 01/07/2009 17:01

Hi Rosa, glad you're having a good time. 98% humidity must be dire.

God my feet are rank too, I had some flexitol from the UK but have lost it, and haven't had time for long bath soak to scrub them.

Thanks for your help on the ebay thread Bucharest, do you sell on both UK and Italian ebay? I have been surprised by how well some things have gone on Italian ebay, I thought it would be crap.
