Number 13?

Berrie, I loved the bit where she snogged Jacob , and I do think she loves and is in love with him.

They are just such total opposites and feed different parts of her.

I think I'll have to re-read the last few chapters. Actually I'll save it for when I re-read the whole set.
I was blubbing from when Edward killed Victoria to the end of the book, so I didn't take it all in properly.

I started Breaking Dawn straight away but was falling asleep (literally. I kept jerking awake as my head fell) so will have to re-read some of that too.

I know it's for teenagers, and I know it's not the most well written, but I LOVE it. I think it is very erotic and it's given me many, many actual physical tingles up my spine.

I'm definately seeing RP as Edward and have fallen, and the Jacob I see makes it fine to be head over heels for him too. I will struggle with the screen Jacob.

God. We're sad aren't we.

MatthewBellamysMuse · 25/04/2009 12:02

I got the tingles too Oggs. And little stomach flips.
You know, Stephenie Meyer didn't set out to write'a book for teenagers'. She just wrote the book that was in her head. Because the characters are mostly teenagers, with the exception of the Cullens of course, it was naturally marketed at the young adult market.
I think it's nonsense to say any book (other tthan kiddie books, obviously) should only be read by certain groups. How many teenagers read books written for adults? Lots, and so they should.

I loved the bit where Edward killed Victoria ad ripped her body to bits. What a man.

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 25/04/2009 12:24

Alright. I'll rephrase. I mean a book that's generally regarded as being for teenagers.

I've just wasted an hour and a half googling pictures and clips of RP .

What does your Edward look like? Don't you fancy RP?

MatthewBellamysMuse · 25/04/2009 13:47

RP's not bad, he's a handsome chap but he's not perfect enough to be Edward. Especially with that silly bouffant hair and horrid grey jacket they gave him in the film.

OP posts:
MatthewBellamysMuse · 25/04/2009 13:48

I wasn't getting at you, Oggs. A few people have said 'but it's for teenagers. Why are you reading it'.
Tut.

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 25/04/2009 14:16

I didn't think you were Lyra . I know what you mean though.

Hmm. The grey peacoat I've seen him in doesn't do him justice, a navy or black one would have been better.
I like his hair (in real life). I do like a man with a floppy fringe .

I've just been to pick dd up and on the way back I pledged to myself that I would not switch the computer on when I got home, but would instead get on with the absolute pig sty of a house.
I've got weeks and weeks worth of washing and tidying up and paperwork to do.
So.
Here I am.
Googling for hot photos of RP

MatthewBellamysMuse · 25/04/2009 14:35

Oggsy, you never change

OP posts:
ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 25/04/2009 15:02

Still Googling Oggs?

I'm sorry, but I really don't get anything fanciable from Jacob at all. Maybe cos I'm all about Edward and his pain

I agree about his clothes in the movie. It's not nearly cool enough - they're all supposed to dress and move like models. A dark peacoat could well have done the trick. And hopefully his hair will be toned down a bit for the next one.

MatthewBellamysMuse · 25/04/2009 15:34

For me it's Jacob's youth that puts me off. He's little more than an (overgrown) kid.

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 25/04/2009 16:20

But Jacob's so full of life, fun and mischief.

He's witty and sarcastic and huge and huggable and just ... phwoarr.

Remember also, that when I read Jacob, this is what I see.

MatthewBellamysMuse · 25/04/2009 17:04

You misunderstand me, Oggs. I'd love someone like Jacob as a platonic friend, or maybe even a boyfriend, if I was 16 like he is. But as a 37-year-old woman, he holds no appeal in that way.
Edward, on the other hand, is the perfect combination of maturity and youthful good looks. Gosh, what a shame he doesn't exist.

OP posts:
ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 25/04/2009 17:09

Point taken about the picture in your head Oggs, but to me he's just too immature. Which is hardly surprising given he's only 16 or something.

One of my favourite lines is between Bella & Edward. 'How old are you?' '17' 'How long have you been 17?' '...A while'. It made me laugh anyway!

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 25/04/2009 17:10

Lyra, I think we're 'on the same page' on this!

MatthewBellamysMuse · 25/04/2009 17:36

We are, Zeb. I can't imagine fancying a 16-year-old in real life.

OP posts:
Berrie · 25/04/2009 18:35

And I'm in Ogg's gang!

oggsfrog · 25/04/2009 18:57

Who said anything about real life? Anyway, the one I fancy as Jacob isn't 16, he's 23.

MatthewBellamysMuse · 25/04/2009 18:59

Oh, that makes it so much better, Oggs
Actually, isn't RP 23 or thereabouts?

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 25/04/2009 19:02

Yup. 23. You cradle snatching letch.

Berrie · 25/04/2009 19:55

Oggs when is your Festi?

oggsfrog · 25/04/2009 20:08

Er... 20 somethingth of May. I'll check.

oggsfrog · 25/04/2009 20:11

Berrie · 25/04/2009 20:16

Berrie · 25/04/2009 20:17

Can we come...as proper festi goers wouldn't intrude?

oggsfrog · 25/04/2009 20:25
