did you have fun today?

yup, very much so. It ended up being a family day in the end which was very nice. DD1 was very well behaved (as usual tbh) - maybe because she ate 2000 deeeelicious 'cupcapes' and icecreamms and god knows what. Bought lovely dresses for the dds and had a nice stroll and window shopping. I wanted to buy everything. Lovely market, it's there every sat.

I'm looking at desks for my study which is almost finished. any suggestions. pref not new but open to great design ideas.

I like this. I have one a bit like it, though with wooden trestles, from Ikea... I'll see if I can find a picture.

I also like antique ones with leather top or zinc top (not cheap though unfortunately).

Next plan re career: I'm thinking now of teaching italian at primary level.

The Ikea Glasholm top is identical to that second link, and is much cheaper (naturally). I find the trestles really useful for storing files.

Argh. Not so good. Because of the crunch, it looks like we're going to struggle to persuade anybody to loan us the money to do it up (we were planning on borrowing a bit, doing some work, remortgaging and borrowing more based on the fact that the work done would increase value, etc.).

But hey.

We're going to kick off with the granary anyway, so we'll see how things go...

No, we're not in yet. We were waiting to hear from the bank first, just in case we were going to get cracking with some work in the house. Yes, it's livable - not very nice or stylish (I think I mentioned the 60s carpets...?), but livable. Though I'd have to get used to operating a 50 year old Aga!

Look here Pippi. The first 2 are affordable. Ok, they're desks for children, but their dimensions are not so different to some of the "adult" ones...
