OP posts:
MargaretMountford · 02/04/2009 22:12

hope it was yummy ! what did you have ?
Back from concert which was great and mercifully not as long as the Christmas one which went on for hours..T's choir sang first and were very good...he is very tired and coughy and still suffering poor lamb.

hippipotamiHasLost14Pounds · 03/04/2009 09:47

Glad to hear concert was a success!!

Last night was lovely, great conversation and good fun. The girls did not leave till gone midnight
I had a chicken tikka tandoor, plain boiled rice and shared some sag aloo. It was very tasty!

Have just come back from O's class assembly - it was lovely It was all about Reduce, Reuse, Recyle and the children and teachers had worked so hard on costumes, script, music, dancing. Brilliant!

I am now going to tackle the bombsite that is my house, do some laundry, walk the dog and try to remember the children need collecting half an hour earlier today!

Have a good day!

hippipotamiHasLost14Pounds · 03/04/2009 11:08

Ooooooooooh, bunnies!!!

I love them!

hippipotamiHasLost14Pounds · 03/04/2009 11:09

Oh no, where did my bunnies go?

Hotcrossbunny · 03/04/2009 13:05

Glad concert went well. How is T feeling today?

Your evening sounds lovely Hippi Lets see if my bunnies work, or if there's a glitch...

I've had a busy morning. Library first, lots of books to label and put away, then I had a drs appointment as the impetigo is coming back She's puzzled, but has prescribed more AB's and some ointment, so hopefully it will go properly this time. Then I went to the lovely toy shop near here to buy 2 birthday presents, as B is off to a twins party tomorrow. Very hard to get equalish presents...

Then off to pick up B early - am so pleased its the hols

MargaretMountford · 03/04/2009 13:10

oh cute bunnies ! !
T is still not a hundred per cent better -but should perk up as it's the hols...they don't finish until 3 as usual today...
Sorry to hear about stubborn impetigo

MargaretMountford · 03/04/2009 19:12

T much cheerier after a v good penultimate swimming lesson - was stretched out by lovely teacher to an hour and he swam almost a length underwater gathering things from the bottom of the pool. He has been given a boy's phone number (same boy who borrows money but pays it back with interest in bread rolls) and T is to ring him so they can hang out in town...now definitely ordering a phone for T -

MargaretMountford · 05/04/2009 14:50

have put my necklaces on profile, to get some opinions/idea of price - remember they are really aimed at the teenage/student market, not sophisticated ladies such as yourselves !

MargaretMountford · 05/04/2009 15:16

hey you two - just saw this thread - it echoes some our previous discussions on other people's houses !www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/733979-to-now-be-feeling-totally-inadequate-but-not-sur e-why?addwatch=1

hippipotamiHasLost14Pounds · 06/04/2009 08:37

Morning

Have just had a read of that thread - house-anxiety is everywhere it seems

I love your button hearts - they are beautiful!
The necklaces are very funky - not sure about the red chain though.
I think my 16 year old niece would definately wear one of those and E has fallen in love with the pink cat

So next time we meet, let me know how much they cost and I will buy definately two, but may get a couple more as I think E's friends may like them too.
(I know they are not aimed at 6 year old girls but they definately appeal to E)

Busy day today - have a weigh-in with the nurse in under half an hour, then I need to whizz around Sainsbury.
Then off to my friend T for lunch, and I am leaving E there as she is having a sleepover.
(T is E's friend H's mum)
Need to be home by 3pm as O is being picked up between 3 and 3.30 for a sleepover at his friend L's house.
So then I am all on my own for the night as dh is in Leeds[quiver]
Will use the afternoon wisely and go for a nice swim, and after that I will snuggle up on the sofa with a good book and my favourite soup (red lentil, tomato and bacon yum)
Dh inadvertently woke me at 4.30 this morning when he left for Leeds - I did not manage to get back to sleep and am now soooo tired.

MargaretMountford · 06/04/2009 11:38

thanks for looking ! am waiting for more chain to arrive in craft shop before I can get on - it'd be the pinky red chain- if E doesn't mind that ? (as in the photos) -think it works well with the ballerinas and cats, though I did buy the last metre of their purple chain and that looked nice. All my current stock is now with the shops which are trying to sell them,so I have nothing to bring when we meet, unless new supplies arrive soonish..but I wouldn't expect you to pay for E's - it would be a present (and one for B if she liked them !) -don't mean to leave O out but he doesn't strike me as a fan of ballerina or cat necklaces
Good luck with weigh in and hope you aren't too lonely this evening - book and lovely soup sound nice ! Dh made the Dutch Pea soup yesterday - very delicious as always - a firm favourite chez MAS !

hippipotamiHasLost15Pounds · 06/04/2009 15:59

Hello
Weigh-in was fine. There is a discrepancy between her scales and mine but have still lost a pound. Better than nothing

Lunch at T's was lovely, she knows I am trying to lose weight so we had tuna salad and then a fruit salad for pudding. I think I reached my 5-a-day just with that meal!

I found it very hard to leave E at T's. I know she will be well looked after, and she gets on well with H, but still I feel a little
She is very ticcy at the moment, worse than she has ever been (has a shoulder tic, a air sucking tic, a teeth clattering tic, various leg tics (heels tapping the ground before and during walking) and a very impressive elbow tic (think the movements to the birdy song dance)
I just want to wrap her up in cotton wool at the moment, which is stupid because there is nothing wrong with her!

O has been collected too and I have just come back from a dog walk. Am going to head over to the pool now for a quick swim before rewarding myself with soup!

The red/pinky chain is fine And please don't give one to E, I insist on paying you.
If the chain comes in from the craft shop in time, could you do one for me (I will pay of course) to give to E's friend H for her birthday in early May? Because having spent the morning with T and H the necklace is the sort of thing H would just love!!

Right, better go for my swim - this weight is not going to come off on it's own (sadly)

MargaretMountford · 06/04/2009 19:04

well done with the extra pound off hippi
and try not to fret about B - she'll have a lovely time I'm sure..hope you don't feel lonely tonight. I wonder why the tics are worse at the mo ?
Will let you know when I get new chain -then I can make up some necklaces - what colour cats do you prefer ? would you like any ballerinas, or was it the cats you wanted ? they come in yellow, green, red, purple, orange, pink and pale pink, also blue. I do hate charging my friends anything, makes me feel weird ! (some businesswoman I am !)

hippipotamiHasLost15Pounds · 06/04/2009 20:10

I have no idea why E's tics are so 'severe' at the moment. Either the tic syndrome (still querying mild tourettes) is getting worse, or she is feeling anxious about something - but as time goes on I am not convinced about the tic/anxiety link.
There are no big changes afoot, nothing out of the ordinary is happening that I can think of.

For E, and her friend H (and I will buy one for little S aswell) it would definately be cats. None of them like or do ballet (they all tried and they all dropped out very soon) but they are all huge animal lovers. (They are going to be zoo-keepers when they grow up dontcha know )

Re the necklaces - any colour, they all sound great (except pale pink, funnily enough none of them are 'pale pink' type girls, they all like bright pink, purple and orange.
And I will not accept them without paying for them. If need be I will done a wig and false moustache and buy them incognito!

E has just phoned to say night night. I briefly spoke to T also, she said E had eaten a reasonable amount at dinner, she and H had shared a bath and flooded the bathroom (oops) and were now watching a bit of Peppa Pig before bed.
T said they were out in the garden all afternoon making 'enclosures' for their toy animals and making mud pies. Great fun

Right, I am going to do the dishes and then make up O and E's little Easter bags. (I usually do them a little cellophane bag with a variety of small Easter eggs and a token gift - wooden necklace for E and a groovy pen for O - instead of one Easter egg. Found some lovely pastel coloured ribbon in Hobbycraft to tie them up with, they will be pleased

MargaretMountford · 06/04/2009 21:30

poor E - can't really suggest anything helpful as I know little about these things. Sounds as though they're having fun at the sleepover @ flooding bathroom !
Your Easter bags sound lovely - T chose a gold bunny for his and we're going to hide creme eggs in the garden as usual. Hope you sleep well xxx

MargaretMountford · 06/04/2009 21:31

I wonder if Hobbycraft do chains...?

hippipotamiHasLost15Pounds · 06/04/2009 23:11

I feel a bit bad about the bathroom

Have just re-read my last post, yikes there are a lot of typos in there!!

I think E is fine, she is just a ticcy type of person. I also think she has mild OCD and sometimes that and tourettes go hand in hand so it is just something to keep in the back of my mind.
I do hate seeing her tic though, or hearing her as the case was when she phoned tonight - she kept doing this funny breathing thing halfway through each sentence, has been doing that for a few weeks.
Never a dull moment with an E in the house!!

Anyroad, am off to bed. Have just watched Hustle (repeat of series 2) on Virgin 1. I have a huge soft-spot for Robert Glenister so am loving Monday nights at the moment

Night night

Hotcrossbunny · 06/04/2009 23:17

I have a lot to read through, and am too tired tonight, but just wanted to post to say night night Dh is home this week and I'm just not getting anything done, nevermind a bit of MNing! It is lovely to all be on holiday together, but going away is easier. I hadn't realised how much I get done usually just pottering without distractions...

Will try to get back on here tomorrow at some point, although B and I need to go Birthday card shopping for dh(Wed b'day) and B's little friend is coming for the morning.

Night xx

MargaretMountford · 07/04/2009 14:19

hello you two...hope you slept well hippi and that E &O had lovely sleepovers. Took T to Basingstoke yesterday to buy some clothes - didn't get much really as he is totally disinterested ! nice new trousers in the Gap,plus a pale blue polo shirt and some nice socks and a pair of black hight top Converses, which I think he is pleased with ! I bought myself some nice linen mix trousers in the Gap, plus a couple of tops from there. Today wandered into town to the market and T bought new drawing book,a magazine and some brush pens with a Christmas voucher at Smiths then we had some very delicious teriyaki noodles from a stall and he bought a doughnut and 2 boxes of green tea.
Off for his hair cut soon abnd then the very last swimming lesson with his teacher

hippipotamiHasLost15Pounds · 07/04/2009 14:31

Hello

Don't tell O about T's converse hi-tops, O will be soooo as he really really wants some...

O and E had a lovely time at their sleepovers, and I am glad to have them back

We have taken the dog for a walk but they are both tired from last night so we are spending the rest of today chilling.

O has a friend here tomorrow so I need to just do a quick bit of dusting and hoovering later today

Hotcrossbunny · 07/04/2009 22:57

Hello!

Glad you're having good holidays. Well done on surviving the night on your own Hippi - that must have felt very strange... Haven't had to think about sleepovers yet, but I guess they can't be far off. Eeek!

Poor E and you, can anyone explain why she might be ticcing? If it's not stress, could there be other reasons? It seems strange that it comes and goes....

The clothes shopping sounds nice MAS. I haven't been clothes shopping for so long and I have nothing to wear, so am . The necklaces etc are so cute TBH I've no idea what B would think of them, she's not really that interested in jewellery, but she does like cats.... I, on the other hand, really like the hearts! Could I put in an order for a couple???

Right, must go to bed. Dh's birthday tomorrow!

MargaretMountford · 08/04/2009 07:38

happy birthday hotcross's dh !! have a lovely day
Of course you may have 2 hearts, how very flattering that you like them - the ones in the pictures are the small ones..there are slightly larger ones which feature more buttons..not sure which you prefer..and also which sort o colours...the mainly red button ones were Valentine hearts which the shop nearby has bought so I don't have them any more. Will post pics of what I have before we meet up,if you'd still like some !
Have a good day everyone - am off to Sainsbury's.
Good last swimming lesson yesterday - nice long one - T has done so well considering he was very nervous and couldn't swim at all when he started - his technique is a little haphazard but underwater he is fantastic - really like a fish and can dive endlessly for about 6 things at a time...very proud of him ! Will miss the lessons as they've become very much a part of our weekly routine and T has had so much fun. Dad will probably take him to family swim time at the health club as he is a member,so he will get to go to this pool again...right,best get on

hippipotamiHasLost15Pounds · 08/04/2009 10:07

Happy birthday hotcross's dh! Hope you have a nice day!!

Well done T on his swimming lessons - he sounds amazing underwater! I always panic and have to come up for air long before I have run out of breath if that makes sense...
And I think O is the same.

Hotcross, E's haphazard ticcing is typical of both transient tic disorder and tourettes. For me personally everything points to tourettes as with the transient tic disorder you get breaks from ticcing of at least 3 months, and E has never been tic free for that long - the longest was 2 summers ago when she was tic free for 6 weeks.
But as it is not really interfering with normal life at the moment I am not seeking a diagnosis [head firmly in the sand emoticon with bunny ears on]

MAS, I would like some hearts too, but we will sort it out nearer to our meetup. And definately the cat necklaces for E, H and little S.

Right, I better go and get dressed, O's friend J is being dropped off here at 11. He is the boy who moved to a different school, his mum was one of the mums who came here for the curry night last week. O and J get on well, so it should be fun

Have a nice day, I will probably be back here frequently so it looks like I am doing something whilst J is here...

MargaretMountford · 08/04/2009 13:42

fwiw, I think sometimes it's best not to rush into diagnoses etc particularly if it isn't interefering with normal family life...I think you'd know inside when or if it is time to address the problem and seek more help- it might well be something she grows out of.

hippipotamiHasLost15Pounds · 08/04/2009 14:50

That is exactly how I feel MAS. Add to that the fact that dh firmly believes there is nothing wrong with her.
It is SIL and MIL who are pushing for a diagnosis - but they are both nurses and seem to take an extraordinary amount of interest in anyone's minor complaints

As and when it becomes a problem - for instance when she is older, the tics are more noticeable and she gets teased at school, then I may seek help.
But for now it is just something she does. She first showed tics at the age of 2.5 so we are used to it. (although she has got 'worse' as time has gone on)

Phew, O's friend J has just left. He is a real live-wire adn sometimes hard to control. I caught them in dh's shed hammering nails into the end of bamboo canes so they could then stick them into the ground as part of the canon they constructed from an old fire-barrel and some wood.
I told them off, shooed them out of the shed, and 2 minutes later they were back in there hammering again
He is a lovely boy, but exhausting and a real boy in terms of mischief and adventure. He is always the one who climbs the tallest trees, he broke his wrist trying to skateboard off his parent's shed roof, he has climbed out of his (second floor) bedroom window onto the garage roof via the drainpipe etc.

Am just finishing my (late) lunch and then I will take O and E on their bikes round the village to give Dillydog a walk.

Are you having a good day?
