ah, we can only do 1000, so here's the new one, hope you find it !

OP posts:
MargaretMountford · 08/04/2009 19:08

ooh, what a pickle that boy sounds !!
We did Sainsbury's,which was v busy - Theo has Easter money from my aunt and his Gran so he bought himself a big thing of sushi for his lunch and a Simpson's magazine. After lunch he went over to mum's and I drove to Farnham to mooch about - looking for shoes sort of, but there is nothing at all interesting ( @ the shoe thread hippi !)- I wanted something in between flipflops and Birkenstocks and my boots..but really nothing at all .
My friend has some gold Mary Janes which are very cute and I quite hanker after those and some Campers which I saw in Jones in B/stoke, but they were £80 and I can't possibly stretch to that. Have spent quite enough anyway on new trousers/tops and a few other fripperies.
T has his new phone - really thought he should have one, and he's getting to grips with it.
Looks as though I'm on cat patrol over Easter for my parents 3 kitties and my neighbour's cat !

MargaretMountford · 08/04/2009 19:09

oh,I'm not on FB - I forgot to put T, not his name !

hippipotamiHasLost15Pounds · 08/04/2009 19:13

Oh how exciting, T has his phone
He will be texting you next, just you wait!

{bgrin] at shoe thread too - I genuinly love those red lentil weavery shoes, they are fab!

Having a nice quiet evening. O and E have been showered and fed. O is reading his book (he has to do a book report for school during the Easter break) and E is playing with the toy cars (making endless lines and queues)

Have a nice evening

Oh, btw, I hardly dare ask this, but where do people put your lovely hearts? I really like them but can't figure out where to put them

MargaretMountford · 08/04/2009 19:19

I used to do endless lines of cars as a girl !!
people hang them on door handles, knobs of drawers, wardrobe door handles...mum has hers on a nail in her kitchen wall, my friend F has one on her bedstead and friend P has one on the window catch...dh has a red one I made for our anniversary on a hook above our bed. They are on a wire loop to hook on to things.

hippipotamiHasLost15Pounds · 08/04/2009 19:36

That's what I thought (about the hearts)
Too many places to choose from...

O used to line cars up too, and then drive them to the next point and line them up again (or 'park' them)
Keeps E busy for hourse

hippipotamiHasLost15Pounds · 08/04/2009 19:37

please excuse the rogue 'e', no idea where that came from

MargaretMountford · 10/04/2009 08:55

Happy Good Friday

hippipotamiHasLost15Pounds · 10/04/2009 17:48

Happy good Friday, and thank you for the lovely email card
Hope you have both had a nice day

MargaretMountford · 10/04/2009 18:02

that's quite alright !
Nice day, not much happened - dh and my dad planted the quince tree in the rain...I went to Mass this afternoon, then we had toasted hotcross buns - yum. Having supper with my ma and pa.

Hotcrossbunny · 17/04/2009 11:34

Hello! Hope you've had lovely easter holidays? Ours have been great - manic - and as neither of you are around on here I'm assuming yours have been the same

B and I are having a lazy soggy day at home, which is really nice after hurtling around. Dh went back to work yesterday, so I have a chance of straightening the house out a wee bit, and B is watching too much TV

We didn't arrange a meet up in the end, did we??? Can't find dates we mentioned, so I suggest week beginning either 27th April or 4th May. Any good? ATM, I can't manage the 27th, 28th, 5th....

MargaretMountford · 18/04/2009 18:02

I think we did arrange for 28th ?
Am back from a few days visiting MIL and dh's family in Notts. Was very nice, in fact the Easter hols have been generally v nice indeed...T has not done any homework yet, despite my sage advice to get it done before he went away and when he was just mooching about aimlessly...tsk.
My neice -dd of dh's eldest brother, has flown back suddenly from NZ where she's been travelling/working (is 21) because she has a soft tissue sarcoma -this apparently is very unusual and a fast growing thing..she's having an MRI scan on Monday -everyone was very anxious and we didn't get to see her as she didn't feel like meeting up with everyone for lunch -understandably- what a shock though. BIL said that it was the worst day of his life, when he heard. It might be nothing serious though,so must hope for good news.
I've missed you both btw !

Hotcrossbunny · 18/04/2009 23:12

Hi MAS! Had thought we'd set a date, but couldn't find details when I searched back through our thread. Looking forward to the 28th!

I'm so sorry to hear about your niece. That must have been such a shock. Hopefully it'll turn out to be fairly easily sorted out ...will be thinking of you all, and crossing fingers for positive results from the MRI.

I've been weeding all afternoon, and my fingers are in a dreadful state. I tried wearing gloves, but couldn't get a firm grip on the pesky things, so had to resort to weeding au naturale. My thumb is very sore as I kept trying to pull up little bramble shoots Will go and smother them in cream in a mo. B went to a neighbours' to play, so we had a whinge-free gardening opportunity

Right, off to bed now. Ditto MAS, I've missed both of you too!

MargaretMountford · 19/04/2009 14:00

hope your fingers are better today hotcross ! - you have been hard at work
Thanks for kind wishes for niece H -positive thought is a great thing..am sure all will be ok.

hippipotamiHasLost15Pounds · 19/04/2009 14:07

Hello you two
I have missed you both aswell!

Sorry to hear about your niece MAS, what a shock! I have my fingers crossed for good news.

I have gardening fingers too hotcross - have put a few more strawberry plants in, done some pruning and weeding and generally tidying up. Lovely weather for it

We have had a fab week, we have been to the Science Museum, to Paulton's Park, to Ikea (more for me that one), we have been swimming, and we went to the cinema on Friday to watch Monsters v Aliens. Very very funny
It was lovely having dh home.

Today E had a friend's birthday party (making pizzas at Pizza Express in Woking, brilliant ) so dh, O and I dropped her off and did some shopping.
Tomorrow dh and O are off to PGL in Hindhead for an action packed 3 days. They can't wait! I am spending the day sorting out clothing and packing for them!

Looking forward to the 28th

MargaretMountford · 19/04/2009 16:40

gosh, you've been very busy too hippi ! We pottered about mostly...saw my friend J in Derbyshire on the way up to MIL and ate out a couple of times when there - very nice, fairly expensive lunch in a pub we hadn't been to before (dh and MIL had cassoulet with duck and toulouse sausage, pigeon salad for T and I had fantastically good Barnsley chops on bubble and squeak with a thyme jus - then a parfait for dh ,ice cream for T and a vanilla pannacotta with Nottinghamshire rhubarb and little cubes of rhubarb jelly for me) - delicious ! think the rest of the family regard it as a bit 'posh' but nice places to eat are few and far between up there - no disrespect intended as I love Nottinghamshire- but we have been very spoiled down here with great places to eat on our doorsteps, especially in London - up there everything is pretty much the same -same menus etc. We had lunch the next day with various family members at our usual favourite which was very good indeed...sweet donkeys in the fields outside to stroke.
They probably think we are a bit poncey with our fancy southern ways !!

MargaretMountford · 19/04/2009 16:42

the family, not the donkeys !

hippipotamiHasLost15Pounds · 19/04/2009 17:34

Roffle! You never know what these donkeys could be thinking!!

Lunch sounds fab - a lovely treat!

MargaretMountford · 19/04/2009 17:56

it was !

Hotcrossbunny · 19/04/2009 18:24

Hi both of you. Glad you had good hols too, Hippi We did wonder about going to see Monsters v Aliens, but B wasn't keen. We got tickets for Fantastic Mr Fox instead, which B really enjoyed - I don't think she's emotionally ready maybe for the more realistic animation stuff. She did LOVE Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on TV over Easter though

Your meal sounds gorgeous MAS. I know what you mean about limited choices near your MIL. My parents live near Lincoln and we're always struggling to find somewhere decent. The pubs round them do good solid plates of food, usually home cooked etc, but not really suitable for a special meal out. I do wonder though if there are gems we just don't know about, not being true locals???

We've spent a lovely afternoon at a local dog show. It was hilarious, with lots of disobedient dogs and interesting owners. Our doggle didn't win anything, but was definitely a bit of a favourite with the crowd The judge wasn't interested in shaggy scruffy dogs, all the labs, whippets, etc etc won. Infact by the end, we could all predict which would win each class It was fun though.

Can't believe back to school tomorrow Could do with at least another week...

Hotcrossbunny · 19/04/2009 18:24

LOL at what donkeys are thinking. I always did say they have knowing eyes

MargaretMountford · 19/04/2009 19:22

I bet they loved your beautiful doggle hotcross !! I would get very excited about whippets as they are my favourites - I long for a whippet
I think we've been to all the pubs in the villages around MILs - there never seems to be a restaurant restaurant - just pub ones..I'm sure Nottingham itself has gems but we are further out, towards Mansfield - the food is as you say good solid stuff usually, but not special. There is a fish retaurant in a pub but it's really, really expensive - it's very good, but they are so up their own bottoms there - they think they're better than they are- I much prefer our new find or our old faithful, which is consistently good.

hippipotamiHasLost15Pounds · 19/04/2009 20:24

Dog show sounds fab! We took Dillydog once to one a few years ago. Not a serious one, more a 'pet and family' type event. It was hilarious - he won nothing, caused uproar with his disobedience and loved all the attention. We were exchausted by the end of it. Great fun though!!

I am not ready for E to go back to school. Feel different about O, probably because he is heading off to PGL with dh, so not really 'school' as such.
Another week off would be heaven!!

Feeling a bit funny - after his shower this evening O showed me his 'new hair'. He has five (yes I counted ) slightly longer, slightly darker hairs growing above his penis. Sob, he is not even 10 yet! He thinks it is fab and is happy, so not worried about it from that point of view. But it seems so early to me. Having said that, he is the height and weight of an 11 year old and in age 11 trousers and age 12 tops, so he is big for his age and that may have a lot to do with it.
Still feel a bit odd about it though...

MargaretMountford · 19/04/2009 20:38

oh hippi for you but if O is happy...nothing at all in that department with T..he is quite small compared with others in his year though..I'm not sure how I'll react or feel when these things hapen...

hippipotamiHasLost15Pounds · 19/04/2009 21:38

I feel a bit odd about it. My friend K's ds has had BO for about a year and has to use daily deodorant. He is a very small and slight 9 year old, so K has always put it down to S being sporty (S plays football for the school, the local village team and the district team so has 3 training sessions plus at least one match per week) Have never noticed BO with O, not even straight after sports on a hot day. Just these few slightly darker hairs (but still fine and straight, not coarse and curly yet)
O's 'Let's talk about sex' book says that pubic hair from 9 is normal. So I think nothing to fret about seeing as he is 9.8 and big for his age.
But still, it is the beginning of it all isn't it....[fret]
But O is cool about it (excited even) and I have not noticed any hairs anywhere else, no BO, no mood swings. So I think we are a while away from true puberty yet

hippipotamiHasLost15Pounds · 19/04/2009 21:42

Oh, and the best thing was that he calmly told me' Oh yes, I found these last week, but my 'education book' (as he calls the Let's talk about sex book) tells me it is normal to start getting hair there so I think it is cool'.
A huge Hurrah for the book and the fact O has it in his room and can look things up as and when he needs to to reassure himself
