Morning all

It is absolutely gorgeous isn't it? I'm going to get stuck into gardening today hopefully, after I've walked doggle.

I nearly ran away at the talk of money. I'm hopeless at arranging how much to pay for things, especially with friends. I would like two small hearts please MAS, and a ballerina on a chain for B... Can I just bring money with me next week and you tell me how much I owe??? I've got lost with prices... Lovely pics of T BTW!

Can I pick your brains about mums dog? He's the cutest curliest wee terrier, a rescue, but he is very mixed up emotionally. Up to now he's just growled a wee bit at my mum. Unfortunately however, while my parents were staying over Easter, he snapped at B Mum took him to the vets last night to get their opinion, and that was to either rehome him, or put him to sleep Obviously my brain says just have him put to sleep, but I feel awful that this has all happened in my house with my daughter IYSWIM? And he is a lovely wee chap most of the time, so part of me thinks try seeing a dog therapist person first. Actually, what I'd like is for mum just to get rid of him, rather than needing my opinion, I don't want us to be the reason for him going..... Aaaagh, I can see this all blowing up and being an issue....

Sorry, was thinking out loud there!

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 22/04/2009 10:24

Does the terrier snap at B even when she does not approach him?
My sil's dog is a snappy cavalier (horrid little dog with bulging eyes but that is another story) and for some reason she growls at E every time we are there.
but she only does it at E no-one else, and only when E approaches her. So we tell E to stay away adn watch like a hawk.
Seeing at the terrier growls at your mum aswell, and given that he is a dog with a history, I think there could be potential problems lurking. How long has your mum had the dog?

Lovely sunny day here too. Have just had my hair cut, am waiting on a phonecall from a friend, and then am going to a coffee morning at another friend's house. Looking forward to it - she does the most amazing coffees and despite living in a modern house on a modern estate (huge 5 bed house ) keeps chickens which get the free run of the garden. Lovely to sit having coffee with all this gently clucking in the background

And then the rest of the day is dedicated to housework because my parents will be here on Friday and the house is a tip!

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 22/04/2009 10:34

Agree with hotcross - stunning pics of T. He is such a handsome boy!!

Dh let O choose some converse the other day, they had to order them as the size they wanted was not in the shop. They have just arrived. Am a little by them. They are very very cool.....for a 16 year old....
The are black, with red and yellow flames on the sides, a black skull, and a gothic style banner underneath the skull with the words 'rock 'n' roll' on it....

My friend K thinks they are very cool and O can get away with wearing them. Personally I feel they are one step removed from tatoos and multiple piercings
My boy is growing up and I am sooo not ready...

MargaretMountford · 22/04/2009 14:16

the dog dilemma - not sure what to say...my friend J had a very snappy young Jack Russell and she had to be put to sleep eventually because of this - it was a bit of a problem...sorry, am not being at all helpful.
I've seen those shoes,or ones v much like them hippi - am sure O will look great and very cool in them - the growing up bit is scary though, isn't it !
Thanks for saying those nice things about T's pictures - that is cheering as I'm feeling a bit and because I have been recalled to the breast screening thing (actually to the hospital in Basingstoke - on Friday) for re screening/possible further tests - they don't say why, though I know people are recalled for various reasons-to clarify results,or maybe if the x rays weren't clear etc and usually all is ok..but needless to say I do feel a bit anxious.Dh will come with me and as it's an INSET day then I've asked mum if she can have T - am meant to be dropping off S and picking her and her brother up after school then, can probably manage the pick up,all being well.

MargaretMountford · 22/04/2009 18:41

am hoping to see if chain is in tomorrow or on Saturday - if it is,would you prefer a longer pendant chain, or a shorter necklace chain (with clasps to do them up) My niece M is modelling a pendant style on my profile, once I post the photo, and a dd of a friend tried one yesterday and said the pendant worked well for her ! (she is about 8 or 9)....

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 23/04/2009 11:05

Oh MAS, what a shock about the screening re-call. Am confident all will be fine though, but still worrying in the meantime.

Your niece is a cutie! I think for me the chain could be a fair bit shorter, purely because despite being quite girly and liking necklaces and dresses, E and Little S love climbing trees etc and the longer chain will probably get caught on something (and no, the girls will not be sensible enough to take the necklaces off before frolicking about )

Thanks for your kind comments about O's Chuck Taylors. O proudly showed them to my next door neighbour (who is a lovely, mildly hippie type woman with 3 sons aged 16, 12 and 10) and she was a tad horrified by them.
Never mind, O is very happy with them (almost wore them to bed last night, I had to prise them off him) and I think they are quite cool. I have to face it, my little boy is becoming a big little boy, with a keen interest in guitar music (electric for him I'm afraid), rockbands, and all things 'rock'n'roll'. Sob, where is my little boy gone???

I hope all will be fine, am a little anxious about possible biopsy, but that's only if they want to investigate further than an ultrasound,or another x ray...
Will go into town to see if chain is in on Saturday I think..no problem to make the shorter necklaces. If it isn't in,I'll let you know. Will bring a selection of small hearts for you to choose from as they are in different colourways.
I think you have to embrace the growing up bit, though O is still only 9- you'll have a few more years of little boyness too...T is still my little boy most of the time,in private !

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 23/04/2009 16:24

I had a biopsy for my breastlump 4 years ago. It was day-surgery, over very quickly, and I never suffered any discomfort from it.
I had the results two weeks later, all was well.

They may not even want to do a biopsy, but if they do it is not hing to worry about too much

I know, O is still little. And lovely and cuddely. (and currently very grumpy because he is still tired but won't admit it )

MargaretMountford · 23/04/2009 16:49

oh hippi - I didn't know you'd had a lump- am glad all is well

Hotcrossbunny · 23/04/2009 17:03

Oh MAS What a pain. I'm sure it'll all be fine, but the waiting is horrible. FWIW, my mum had a number of biopsies done, all nothing to worry about, and not painful. It may be you just need further pictures done, though, as I don't think mammograms are necessarily that easy to read.

MargaretMountford · 23/04/2009 17:30

tea sounds yum..lucky things ! And yes, can do a shorter ballerina chain for B - went into ask about chain this afternoon - not in yet-hoping it'll come by Monday at the latest ! Thanks for kind wishes too
Niece's MRI was on Monday but no results until 14th May !- my SIL said that if something was not good then they'd probably get to her sooner though..fingers all crossed here.

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 23/04/2009 18:27

Fingers crossed for you and your niece MAS. Tea sounds lovely hotcross

Am having two lots of two children for tea both next week and the week after. There were a few children that O and E really wanted to come for tea and I thought I'd get it 'over with' before the invigilating starts again.
So it will be spag bols and jacket potatoes a few times in a row over the next few weeks
I do dread the tea thing so much, but it has do be done doesn't it?? I will be on here, trying to keep out of the way as much as possible!!

Hotcrossbunny · 23/04/2009 22:29

Glad your niece's MRI is done. Hope it's good news!

Tea went OK. A bit mad and very very loud Am used to one fairly quiet B, not three shrieking children, but I think they were just pleased to be together. A little success... They are both petrified of dogs, and used to panic even seeing doggle down the street. Today we progressed to both of them giving him a tentative pat which is incredible, and lovely. I bet soon they'll be all over him like many of B's other friends!

Hotcrossbunny · 24/04/2009 11:23

Thinking of you today MAS Hope it all goes really well and is nothing to worry about.

Another beautiful day! I've just been to the garden centre and bought some lovely alpines for my front garden. I've been searching for Aubretia for ages, and finally tracked down a couple of pots. Hooray

I was in the school library this morning and have had a really good tidy up. I'm getting a bit more confident and have rearranged some of the non-fiction so it's easier for the children to access it. Hope I don't get into trouble...

MargaretMountford · 24/04/2009 13:53

Am back - in fact we were seen almost immediately on arrival at the very nice, smart Diagnostic & Treatment unit- and the nurses/consultant were lovely. They took more x rays and an ultrasound -apparently there are bits of calcium which can become nasty..they can't be felt or anything but showed up on the x ray - they did a biopsy which was ok and we have to return on Tuesday afternoon for the results. Depending on that they may leave it or else remove. Anyway, it's a huge relief tp be seen so quickly and reassured..the not knowing was horrible. Must go as dh need to do some work... thanks for thinking of me !

Hotcrossbunny · 24/04/2009 20:52

Glad your appointment was OK, MAS. Lets hope they manage to get clear results and find all is fine

Are you doing anything nice this weekend? We're hoping to do some gardening and also go somewhere for the day to give dh a chance to find out how far his achilles is happy to drive. If the weather is nice, I think it'll probably involve going to the coast

Hope you have a relaxing weekend!

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 24/04/2009 23:16

Excellent news MAS
Am amazed they did biopsy there and then. Mind you, when I had mine they removed the entire lump under GA so I guess that needed a new appointment.

Off to bed now, but just wanted to check you were okay first

MargaretMountford · 25/04/2009 08:52

thanks you two for thinking of me - I was expecting that there might be a biopsy and that they'd do it then so wasn't too shocked and it was all very straightforward. If I have to have anything removed then it'd be day surgery at the D&T centre...we'll see what they say on Tuesday. No special plans for w/end- dh might plant his potatoes..my brother and SIL asked us to join them for a day at Studland but we are giving it a miss this time as I think dh is a bit shattered and wants to chill at home (he has been a star this week and was in a real state of anxiety poor thing) .
What time shall we meet on Tuesday ?

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 25/04/2009 23:35

Hi you two
Have just got home from teh wedding (am waiting for the kettle to boil hence me being on here ).
It was fantastic, E and the other bridesmaids were fab, E had a few 'funny turns' such as refusing to sit in the horse and carriage and refusing to pose for photographs (bribery worked there) but other than that it was fab.

MAS - could you do an orange cat on a long chain for me? That is the one I would need most urgently, the others can wait.
Niece would be happy with red chain if purple is not available.
Her favourite colour is orange and she starts her exams next week, I want to give her the cat necklace as a good luck charm
Hope that is okay??????? Pretty please with a cherry on top

Kettle is boiling, back tomorrow

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 25/04/2009 23:36

Sorry about the overuse of smilies - had a drink at the wedding

MargaretMountford · 26/04/2009 08:36

glad to hear you had fun at the wedding -I hadn't realised it was yesterday ! bet E looked pretty
Did you wear what you'd planned (pictures please !)
Orange cat is no problem - if the chain arrives - last chance tomorrow -will go after lunch to ask-they must be sick of me ! The chain ordered is pinky red, not the purple - I had to choose just one, but I think they look good on that colour - hope that's ok.

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 26/04/2009 10:12

Pinky red sounds lovely too
I just want something to cheer my niece up with, she is very down because of her CFS, she is worrying about her exams and about her and her boyfriend going to different colleges in Sept. (they have been together nearly 18 months)
Fingers crossed chain arrives

Our camera died teh moment SIL entered the hall, so we have no pictures of the wedding whatsoever. But various family members have taken lots and will email them to us. I am in a few of the official photographs, I may share them with you both depending on how I look [fret]

It was a truly fabulous day. E bonded really well with the 9 year old little bridesmaid M. (M was the dd of one of the best men and the niece of the other best man, two best men, new BIL has two best friends one of whom has married the other's sister )
She looked beautiful (all 3 of them did) and did their job so nicely. SIL looked stunning. The ceremony was quite moving (it was all based upon two best friends falling in love and love based on friendship), really really nice.
New BIL has a lovely family, we all got on really really well and it was a truly lovely day.
We let the children run around on the lawn of the hotel early evening just after the meal and E stepped in a muddy puddle. Her little satin cream shoes are ruined, her pretty cream sparkly tights were brown and she had mudsplatters all the way up her dress. We had to take her shoes and tights off and she spent the rest of the evening in green socks and pink crocs
Luckily all the photos had been done!
She is very funny - even though she loves wearing dresses she wanted to play football and 'it' with the boys on the grass (no sitting nicely making daisy chains for E), even though she loves horses she did not want to go for a carriage ride with grandad and the other bridesmaids, and of course she did not eat a single thing at the meal (which was a bit mortifying in front of the other guests at our table)
And she absolutely point blank refused to dance at the evenign reception. O and a little boy G (the son of dh's cousin) were boogying away drawing quite a crowd. They were brilliant!

As soon as I have some photos email to me I will share them

We are meeting my parents and sister for lunch today. My parents are over from Holland, spent the day with me on Friday, they spent yesterday with my sister in London and today we are all meeting up before my parents take the ferry back home tonight.

Busy weekend, my head is spinning....

MargaretMountford · 26/04/2009 11:41

wedding sounds wonderful and how lovely to see your mum and dad and sis...have a great day today !
Which tie did O choose btw ? did he wear his Converses ? !

Hotcrossbunny · 27/04/2009 10:41

Morning Wet and horrid here, but at least the garden will be well watered!

Didn't realise the wedding was this weekend Hippi. Glad you had a lovely time. Greta to see your family too.

E sounds so like B TBH, not wanting to conform fully. In some respects I quite like it, as it shows they know their own minds, but it can be really embarrassing infront of others! We went to a timber merchant this weekend, and they offered B a sweet. She dearly wanted one, but said no as she was embarrassed and hates being centre of attention Of course she later said she really wanted a sweet and could we go back

MAS - don't you have to go back to the hospital for results tomorrow? Do you think we should rearrange coffee for a different day, so you're not trying to squeeze too much in? It's no problem for me to do it another time...
