ah, we can only do 1000, so here's the new one, hope you find it !

OP posts:
MargaretMountford · 19/04/2009 23:13

sensible boy ! try not to fret hippi - it all sounds in the normal range to me and O sounds as though he's perfectly happy with it all - I'm not looking forward to 'smell' things though - T always smells so nice and when that goes he won't be my baby any more ! Am thinking it'll be a little way off yet as he tends to get to stages later than others. I remember at primary school seeing a girl in our class (would be about yr 5) with pubic hair (in swimming changing rooms) and being quite shocked. I was about the last person to have a bra at secondary school, more because I was in denial than anything

hippipotamiHasLost15Pounds · 20/04/2009 08:20

I can't remember going through puberty. I remember my first period (I was 13), but not the stages before it.

Luckily O still smells lovely, long may it continue!

I have a very excited 9 year old here, all dressed, packed and ready to go on his trip.
Dh will take him to school, I will take E to hers. I can't wave the coach off as I have to be at the nurse at 10.20 and the coach leaves at 10.30. But O has dh there so me waving him off may be a bit of overkill
Dh and the other two parent helpers are going down to PGL in the car with O's teacher, so they get to travel in comfort and style leaving the other 2 teachers and one TA to deal with 64 excited Y5's on the coach

Oops, pressed 'post' too soon.

I hope T and B enjoy their first day of the new term!

MargaretMountford · 20/04/2009 09:38

how exciting for O and dh ! hope they have a lovely time

MargaretMountford · 20/04/2009 09:39

good luck with nurse too !

Hotcrossbunny · 20/04/2009 10:23

Morning Hope Dh and O have a fantastic time - looks like they might get decent weather too! Good luck with the nurse - hope she's upbeat and positive for you

Am about talk of puberty! Can't believe your boys might be heading that way so soon - I picture them in my head as little still... On the other hand, there is something lovely about mums with 'big' boys Somehow they seem to be looking after each other IMO, whereas there often seems to be girly friction between mums and daughters Oh and yes definitely hurrah for the book - wish I'd had something like it, I had so many questions I couldn't ask my parents to answer.

B has sailed happily into school today, although she slept in this morning and said she was still tired. Darn it!

I'm taking the little girl up the road to school for the rest of the week. Not looking forward to it TBH, but couldn't really say no. She's arriving 7:45, and is a complete livewire, so I'm imagining a trashed house within minutes. Also we're used to a relaxed start to the day, not getting up until 7:45 some days (the joys of 1 child!), so I haven't quite worked out what E will be doing while B is eating breakfast etc. I guess she'll just have to get up earlier... I'm a fool - why do I worry about everything so much???

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 20/04/2009 10:53

Hi hotcross, I worry about things like that too, and like you I feel I can not say no but then regret taking on the commitment.

E went into school happily and there was a lovely group hug between E, little S and their classmate B in the playground before school. Very sweet.

Nurse was fine, have now lost 19 pounds. Am happy

The infant school have just left a message on my answerphone asking me to come and lunchtime supervise for the next 3 days. Grr, I really don't want to, but I suppose I should. I have to ring them back soon. Sigh.

Hotcrossbunny · 20/04/2009 11:08

WELL DONE HIPPI That's fantastic! Was the nurse nice to you?

Bless the group hug Yesterday at the dog show, B played beautifully with two little girls, and was so sad to have to say goodbye at the end. Big hugs all round Children are so much less complicated than grown ups, and much more open about affection etc, it's lovely.

Do you have to do the supervising??? No prior commitments?? At least it's a wee bit of paid work I suppose...

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 20/04/2009 11:25

I have decided to pretend I am not home today, so won't respond to the message (naughty naughty) because I really want to go swimming and if I lunchtime supervise I can't do both.
I have a lunch 'date' with 2 friends of mine who I rarely see tomorrow, so can't supervise then either, but will do Wednesday if they still need me.

The loss of 19 pounds feels great!!
But lots to go still

It was lovely seeing the hugging this morning. E was happy to see her friends again

O and dh should nearly be at PGL now....they are going to have such a fab time.
My friend K went to wave the coach off. Will ring her in a mo to see if they all went off smiling

MargaretMountford · 20/04/2009 12:57

oh well done hippi !! and don't fret about the supervising- sometimes you don't have to do things you know !! have a lovely swim and lunch date.
Group hug sounds sweet !
I sympathise about minding the little girl before school - a friend asked me once and I said no because I really didn't like the boy much and couldn't cope with the thought of someone else disrupting our routine/quiet morning before school...is it only this week though ? be stern !!
T went off happily enough to school - there is an INSET day on Friday, though I have to drop off friend's dd and pick her and her brother up after school and mind until 4pm. T may go to his grandparents and grandpa might take him for a swim at the health club. Otherwise he can stay here- our decorator will be here anyway, painting the hall and landing.
My accountant tells me they need to know how much I've earned childminding - I shouldn't have mentioned it really as it is cash and I only have a note of what I've earned since January - I wrote it down in case as it has been more regular than beforehand. I am always foolishly honest

MargaretMountford · 20/04/2009 13:02

by the way, the craft shop thinks the chain may be in by the end of the week so I could make up a few necklaces -if you still want some - how many and which colours would your prefer (cats come in green/red/dark pink/pale pink/orange/yellow and there is one blue left)
And hearts - am making up some more this week...did you want the larger or smaller -will attach pics to my profile - ignore the previous ones ? I'll be making a selection of colours (greeny amber/pinky red purple/greeny blue - roughly !!)
BUT don't feel obliged to buy anything !!!!!

MargaretMountford · 20/04/2009 13:02

and purple cats too !

MargaretMountford · 20/04/2009 14:06

ok,they're on...all of them vary as I use whichever beads appeal as I'm threading them on !
2 new pics of T too !

MargaretMountford · 20/04/2009 15:33

T back from school and quite cheery...has made a printed drawstring bag for the juggling balls he made last term in DT -I thought it was a nice bag I could use for my make up !! Am very happy too that his singing teacher is putting him in for his Grade 1 Singing exam - will be in the autumn term.

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 20/04/2009 20:32

I love the smaller hearts - the ones with more beads. How much do they sell for?

Am definately still interested in some necklaces. Definately one for E, in hot pink, and one for little S in yellow.

Glad to hear T came home from school happy. E came out happy too. We went to the park after school and then E managed to get herself invited home with little S. There was much 'pleeeeaaaasssseee' accompanied by fluttering of 6-year-old eyelashes.

Have just spoken to dh. They are having a fab time, currently in the middle of muddy wacky races! Apparently O is not with any of the friends he requested in either day time group or dormitory, but is happy with the people he has been put with, so no problem there!
E is snuggled up in my bed, on dh's side, with her own pillow and quilt (and an assortment of books and cuddelies)

Right, am going to do the dishes, grab a cuppa and get settled in for Ashes to Ashes tonight

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 20/04/2009 20:33

Great news about the Grade 1 singing exam btw!

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 20/04/2009 20:39

Hot pink should be dark pink
And perhaps a green or blue one for my niece, she's a bit down at the moment and with her exams looming she could do with cheering up!

MargaretMountford · 20/04/2009 22:44

ok ! will check on chain later this week.
I sell the hearts to the shops for £2.50 and £3.00 each, they mark them up to £4.50 and £5.95, I think..

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 21/04/2009 09:19

So can I give you £20 for 3 necklaces and one small heart? Is that a fair price?

MargaretMountford · 21/04/2009 09:28

argh I hate talking about money hippi - no wonder I am rubbish at making any !! £20 sounds to me to be more than enough though..I really hope the chain arrives in time, otherwise I can post them to you, but it'd be nice for you to have them next week.

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 21/04/2009 09:40

I don't want you to be out of pocket - I want to make sure you get the same as if I bought the items in a shop

Am just having a lovely cup of coffee, E got off to school fine, I caught up with some mums, arranged some dates for children to come for tea for E (sigh but needs must ).
Weather is lovely again so am going to take Dillydog for a walk in a minute before rushing around Sainsburys.
And then lunch with my two lovely friends, yippee

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 21/04/2009 09:41

Are you sure it is enough? How much would the necklaces sell for in the shop??

MargaretMountford · 21/04/2009 09:43

thank you hippi - I always get embarrassed when friend P pays me for childminding (incidentally my accountant says I need to let them know my earnings there -I think I have to because I mentioned it to them and now they know I do that they are probably obliged to count it...but I think I would feel bad if I hadn't - not that I've earned enough to pay tax on it !)
Have a lovely lunch !

MargaretMountford · 21/04/2009 09:48

Am sure that's enough money hippi ! the necklaces are awkward to price in real life as they aren't really intended to be for children to buy,I was aiming them more at the teenage/young woman market for those who like a bit of kitsch/retro stuff and in that market,in order for them to have value they should sell for around £8- £10 but realistically I think the shop in Selborne is selling them for about £5 - £5.95 - to appeal to kids there, whereas the one here which is a little more lets say 'trendy' might market them at a higher price...but £20 for the lot seems very, very fair to me..more than fair Sir Alan would despair of my business nous !

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 21/04/2009 10:15

Okay, if you are sure you are happy, then we have a deal

Right, really must go and walk doglet, back later
