San Remo Fans Unite......
Welcome , Ciao ,

mine are mostly Carpisa

franca, you see, in Caorle you can't avoid them, actually, they move you out of their way if you're in "their" patch!! so after years of sharing the beach with african statues, fake bags/sunglasses (my fake diesel actually lasted nearly 6 years, til DS got hold of them) necklesses, cheap granny bags, etc, you start to get "beach wise"

francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2009 22:32

Lol Sunflower. Gosh relaxing on the beach in Caorle sounds exhausting

Penthe, you are right about the Mulberry. And perhaps it'd be too "sensible" looking for me. I'd need something more frivolous... I'd love a chanel bag to convey that Chloe Sevigny kind of look. Though I'm pretty sure I'd end up looking like her granny

Penthesileia · 04/03/2009 22:46

You see, I look at this bag and I think that, with this bag to hold my files and folders, I would become a super-organised, efficient, dynamic, productive, yet stylish person.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 04/03/2009 22:49

I know what you mean penthe...

Penthesileia · 04/03/2009 23:07

Where is Bucharest, btw?

Notte, tutte.

And happy birthday again, Sunflower.

Rosa · 05/03/2009 10:24

I have 1 designer if you can call it bag a Bridge rucksack that still is fab - it has been chucked on floors of aircraft been round the world and I love it its sitting waiting for its next exit after cross body bags.
Auguri in retardo Sunflower hope you are feeling a bit better now.
i went to the post office in the hope ( oh how stupid am I ) that a) I would find somebody helpful and b) the parcels would be there ...Came out with neither !! I am going to write a note for the postino saying if you can't carry them domani call me and I will run to the po and get them If by some miracle they turn up ..... I will be stuffed if its raining like today as I am on my own domani and today without minirosa I got soaked !
MInirosa is also 4 months today ...... God time flies...She is still being a bit too rompe for my liking also spoilt by dh rocking her to sleep and a few times not actually making it to the cot ... SO now I have to break those bad habbits oh I am a nasty mum . SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 05/03/2009 10:30

mmmmmmmmm, Rosa, I haven't had pasta e fagioli for years.... nice warm winter food.... my nan used to make the best one...

thanks, and buon compleanno to DD1, and DD is 6 months today

DD's been really rompe, and she's just woken up, better get her before she starts screaming...

francagoestohollywood · 05/03/2009 13:15

Connection stopped working again yesterday night in the middle of bags discussion

Oh my goodness, time flies by! Your babies are growing

I love pasta e fagioli.

It's raining a lot here as well, got soaked today taking dd to nursery school and then going to work. And this afternoon the dc have a party after school, so I'm here hoping it stops as I hate walking on the busy streets of Milan with 2 little ones, umbrellas and people who don't give way to small children holidng umnbrellas...

Rosa · 05/03/2009 14:05

They don't give way to adults here either !! I went with umbrella and got soaked as its windy here as well. I have a blocked nose and am rather coldy - I will have to get a mask as not to infect my germs on the food for the party !!!
Apparently the pasta fagioli was great Dh will be farting ( sorry ) like a trouper piu tarde! I had pasta in bianco as couldn't be bothered to do anything else. MIL insisted on feeding dd who can mange well on her own now when she wants..well she starts off and we help towards the end ! SIL offered to make tremezzini for the festa I got her pan carre ( not enough ) tonno ( wrong sized tins) and mayo ( wrong marca).. SO this pm I will go out again in teh rain and get the right / correct stuff - think it would have been easier to order them done !

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 05/03/2009 14:09

I know! This is why I almost never take an umbrella with me!

Oh dear, can you take a bit of vit c? I'd suggest a zerinol, but it's a nono when breast feeding.

Tramezzini yum! I still remember those I ate at what's that place for ciccheti you send us to? They were delicious.

Bucharest · 05/03/2009 14:15

Ciao belle!

Bucharest returns to the land of the living.....will catch up the previous pages later....just been having One Of Those Weeks. I threw up for a day with my monthly migraine, then had absurd meeting after absurd meeting at the scuola media- culminating in Monday night's do with the preside (brown suit- 60- spoke half in Italian half in Latin..... while he read out various "verbali" to the project teachers...Then they did the dirty on me and changed my day, so I had about 3 hrs to prepare everything, then I started (Tuesday) The teaching is fine, it's the mentalist bureaucracy...I have to log onto the provvythingy website after every lesson with aims, objectives and all that malarkey.

And now dd spent the whole of last night vomming.....am on 6th load of washing of the day......

But I'm here.......

Hope everyone is well....

francagoestohollywood · 05/03/2009 14:21

Oh hello Bucharest, we missed you!
Do you suffer from bad migraines? I have 3 good friends who suffer from it, and it's just awful, you poor thing!

Glad to hear the teaching is going well despite the dreaded bureaucracy.

I saw Giorgino the other day and thought about you.

Bucharest · 05/03/2009 14:34

Just had a quick skim through and will just add:

  1. I agree most (if not all) children's divil-spawnery can be put down to not sleeping enough- after my 2 (for us) late nights (dd usually in bed by 8, for 2 nights it was 9.30) she transforms into Voldemort himself..
  1. I also agree with the psychologisty HV person who thinks Stepfordy women are all overcompensating. They are all like that here. And all they talk about is washing powder and Mastro Lindo. (while I wade through dust)
  1. Any man in moustache becomes asexual and frankly revolting.
  1. I think parents here give out mixed messages to their children- they are far quicker to praise and give in to stuff than Brits would be, but also I think quicker to lose it with them. No boundaries, no rules. There needs to be a happy medium I think.
  1. I like Bridge bags.
  1. I'm reading Cold Comfort Farm and finding it a bit "meh".

A dopo!

francagoestohollywood · 05/03/2009 18:08

Totally agree with n.4.

I agree with n.3 but:

a) I did have a heartbreaking crush for someone who sported moustaches, at times

b) Dh has recently grown a beard, despite my protests. He says he looks more like an academic now

Penthesileia · 05/03/2009 21:35

Hello Bucharest - sorry to hear that you've been unwell. And poor DD too.

Glad teaching is going ok.

I was less than impressed with Cold Comfort Farm too. Enough with the woodshed already.

I am very bored tonight. Is anyone around?

I keep on wondering if I sold a kidney would I be able to afford that Mulberry bag?

Penthesileia · 05/03/2009 21:36

So bored that I am actually "styling" someone on another thread!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 05/03/2009 21:48

just helping DP out emailing his @#$%& of a boss (he's being very unreasonable with everyone at work and sending really unpleasant e-mails... but we need to keep him sweet...

DD really doesn't like bananas... she really went "bah"... she loves grissini.... guess they're nice on her gums and melt nicely... wll try sweet potato tomorrow... really can't eat anything though in front of her now - DS came home from school and gave him some tiramisu' and she kept on looking at his bowl/spoon/mouth very intently...

I'm thinking of taking up knitting, just to s.thing else a part from mn at night... but what would I knit ? just need to do s.thing - not that I don't enjoy your company, on the contrary! just need s.thing to take my mind off things... omg, am I really loosing it?

Penthesileia · 05/03/2009 22:03

Oh, Sunflower. That's about your DH's boss.

My DD is also very underwhelmed by bananas. I was quite disappointed: I thought babies were all mad for bananas.

We gave DD some tiramisu the other evening. She loved it! But we were a bit worried about giving her something with coffee liqueur in it!

I'd love to be able to knit. My sister is good at it, and makes little things for DD. I learnt at school, but have completely forgotten how. Is there a stitch-n-bitch circle near you which you could join?

Sorry that you feel you need to take your mind off things. Hope you're not too stressed.

Brangelina · 05/03/2009 22:18

Hellooo. Just been reading through the 300 odd posts since I last posted. All this bag talk is making we want a new one. To be fair, I do need a decent bag, I never seem to have any that actually match my outfits. People always seem to give be handbags as presents, mostly delicate evening bags, which were no use to me at all, even when I did have a social life. Everything was feretted in various pockets or in my bra. Bags not practical when you're out clubbing.
I had a Mulberry years ago, bought it for about £5 in a charity shop. Unfortunately it fell apart after a particularly taxing house move, where I'd used it to transport various busts, dictionaries and clumpy shoes.

Oh Rosa about the parcel. I do feel your pain. Doesn't it make you feel murderous towards posties?

Bananas - that reminds me mine need to be used up, DD is not a huge banana fan either. Banana cake tomorrow I think.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 05/03/2009 22:21

I don't think I am more than usual, I just find it difficult to un-wind in the evening. I used to love cross stitch, and have s.thing I started 8years ago still unfinished, but it just doesn't go with the living room we have now .... and can't think of anything I could do at the moment. so I thought about knitting - was pretty good when I was little, but I wouldn't know where to start! so I've been googling, but no groups round here.. and when the weather get better I'm hoping to start pilates - atm it's impossible as DP can never guarantee when he'll be home...

DP's boss has been on everyone's case but especially DP and his colleague, and they've been told he'll have to take disciplinary action.. stupid reasons too... never mind, I just want that letter and then I don't care

I don't put liqueur in tiramisu as I don't like alchool in cakes... prefer it on its own . not bothered about coffee... I was weaned on it (well the paed prescribed it when I was little to help my heart....) and the suora at the asilo used to give me a spoonful every day...

Penthesileia · 05/03/2009 22:22

Hello Brange! How's things?

Yum - banana cake.

You remind me: franca - Jaegar are currently selling a bag which does a good impression of a Chanel padded bag... I saw it as I wandered around town today... I imagine it's cheaper than the "real" thing.

Off to look it up.

Brangelina · 05/03/2009 22:23

Oh and Sunflower, happy birthday!

That's a pain about your DH's boss, I once had one like him but genereally used to ignore him, but then I didn't need to keep him sweet.

Bucharest, interesting that you have to follow lesson plans set by the ministro. I thought you had free rein to do what you wanted.

I just found out today that DD is not eligible for a passport after all as I'm only "British by descent" and too many generations down the line. To get her one now we'd have to live in the UK for 3 years. Oh well.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 05/03/2009 22:23

Brange, your banana cake was a success here!

must try your carrot cake next...

Penthesileia · 05/03/2009 22:24

Here.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 05/03/2009 22:25
