San Remo Fans Unite......
Welcome , Ciao ,

OP posts:

morning all, definetly worse today, and woke up drenched as my right boob leaked so much (all DD's fault as she woke up last night before I went to bed and decided to empty only one side, I knew I should have expressed the other really, but I wasn;t really up to it...)

Penthe, I think that it is a silly rule, I mean, if you don't want to take them, fine , it'll be nice to have some child free time, but if you take them (and you might not have the choice if you don't have anyone looking after them!), you'll be looking after them so don't see the problem. Oh, yes, the bride will be upstage by cute noisy babies , according to MN. we didn;t go to one such wedding, but it was DP's friend and so no family tension... But if you post an AIBU, you know we'll be in the minority . Personally, I love big noisy weddings with snotty children, mad uncles and funny grannies!

pippi, I shout a lot to DS especially since DD, I think it's because he's the first and I forget he's still only 4yo... and I feel horrible afterwards and he already answers back/slams doors etc!!

Penthesileia · 04/03/2009 09:46

I think the ability to reflect on one's own behaviour, to be aware and conscious of what one does - good or bad - is a very good thing. People who lack that reflective quality are unlikely to make the necessary changes to their own behaviour, or at least to compensate afterwards for mistakes, etc.

Penthesileia · 04/03/2009 09:48

Hi Sunflower - poor you.

Yes, stupid rule. But I wouldn't dream of starting a thread about it...

francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2009 09:53

Penthe tell your dh to stop being a spoil sport comunista (comunista must be said with the voice of Berlusconi). If the wedding is in a nice location, where you can spend some family time the next day, I think you should consider the option Franca.
Otherwise you need to play the "honesty" card, which is telling your cousin you don't have reliable childcare, someone who can look after dd for a full day.

Pippi, I'm prone to huge melt downs. I'm iraconda, just like ds. Amazingly it appears I wasn't a tantrummy child, at least until I was around 9. And only my mother was able to genuinely piss me off

francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2009 09:57

Hi sunflower. You poor thing (though impressed by your leaking ability ... I rarely leaked and only at the very beginning).
Lol at your ds slamming the doors. Ds the other day tied to "scappare di casa" after being told off.

I think that the consensus is "ignoring bad behaviour" with small children. But somehow, I think that at times they need to see that they can piss us off

Penthesileia · 04/03/2009 09:58

Yes, I think that will have to be it. And he can't really disagree, as my dad will be there, obviously, so... But, argh, I know he's going to be difficult... And in reality, I am a mediator - always trying to find the middle ground; and if necessary, I pretty much always give in. So this is going to be a drag, trying to convince him that we need to do it, which of course - in the grand scheme of things - we don't, but if I don't, well... I hate confrontation and disagreement.

LOL @ acting like Berlusconi! (Where's my plastic surgeon?)...

francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2009 09:58

tried

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 04/03/2009 09:59

I wasn't a tantrumy child, I don't think, had plenty of shouty arguments with mum when I was a teenager though, and promised myself I wouldn't turn into a shouty mum like her, and s.times I think I'm her now, and hate it (as much as I love her!)

Penthe, ask your cousin to find and pay for reliable babysitter

Penthesileia · 04/03/2009 10:00

As a (formerly) naughty child, it didn't do me any harm to see that I'd made my parents cross.

On the contrary, I seemed to find it funny... Even suggested my own punishment: for years, I would say, "put me in the garden" as my own version of the naughty-step. My parents had no idea where I got that from.

Penthesileia · 04/03/2009 10:01

LOL Sunflower. The weird thing is, my cousin (will have) has a one-year old. And since all her family and friends will be at her wedding, who the hell is going to look after her DD???

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 04/03/2009 10:03

franca, I'm often told I'll be thrown in the rubbish bin and substituted by a new mummy

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 04/03/2009 10:04

Penthe, won't she even have her own child?!? well, in that case couldn't her babysitter take care of your dd too?

Penthesileia · 04/03/2009 10:07

LOL @ Sunflower's DS!

I think I will have to contact her and ask what the score is for her DD... Maybe she has a nanny, or something... Not sure. She and her husband are quite high-fliers, so it's not impossible that this is the case...

Anyway - enough of my boring wedding complaints!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 04/03/2009 10:08

yes I think I can be called iraconda as well, much more glorious than isterica btw, which is what my brother calls me to piss me off even more . The sad bit for me is that dd1 is so so so not like that, much more calm and reasoned like dh. which makes me feel even more crappy thinking a 3 y.o. can hold her emotions better than me. Having said that I think minidd is showing traits of frustration that look familiar , oh poor me.

ahhh hotels are for dh and me pure oasis of bliss. yes expensive and always overpriced but a oasis of peace and of a life prebabies nevertheless. we have one of those moneypot that you have to smash and when is full of 2 pound coins we go away for a wild weekend (usually around 400pouds). haven;t done it sinc minidd and childcare pproves to be more complicated, but we will not deterred.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 04/03/2009 10:13

what happened in the last sentence... boh.

I remember the leaking bit, oh I had that all the time. breast pads always soaked. I'd have been a wetnurse in the past - lovely thought.

btw I'm going for an interview for the taching course next week. fingers crossed I'll be studying again, although not CT. penthe you could give me private lessons through MN and send me the handout of your lessons and reading lists though, and I could do it on my own.

francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2009 10:15

Lol at your ds sunflower! And lol at Penthe devising her punishment

mmmmm I've been thinking of collecting coins as well... but that's because I want the balenciaga bag

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 04/03/2009 10:20

we've started that too, trying to put £10 each a week in (though not sure how we'll do it when we'll have no income for 3 months), but that's towards DD's christening.... and left over (if any) for wedding (whenever that'll be ).. and honeymoon, we've never been on hols by ourselves, as we always go to italy....

Penthesileia · 04/03/2009 10:20

I could set up my own distance learning course!

I leak like a broken tap.

Oooooh - which bag? Show me!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 04/03/2009 10:22

yes show us.

francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2009 10:22

Oh you know the odl Balenciaga bag, which was fashionable yrs ago. I still like it, it's my favourite. My favourite favourite is the Chanel padded bag, but too expensive.

Penthesileia · 04/03/2009 10:24

The biker bag? With the tassels/tassles?

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 04/03/2009 10:27

I leaked a lot with DS, but especially after mastitis, my boobs stopped (and got smaller quickly too). this time, I still leak while I feed, but never got soaked til last night ! but I don't mind as for once I still have big boobs even though most of the weight has gone (a part from those stubborn last 4kg )

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 04/03/2009 10:35

talking about bags and I got stuck looking at the all saints website.

basta, let me go get ready. have done sod all, which was planned but still.

francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2009 11:26
