Oh bugger. I miss the beeb.

Penthesileia · 02/03/2009 21:25

Hmmm. Maybe just fatigue after skiing? I sometimes feel sick when I'm physically tired.

javierbardem · 02/03/2009 21:25

oh,thank you penthe.
and by the way i am still thinking of the story you told us last night, how old where you exactly?

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 02/03/2009 21:25

franca I guess it's because it was by the bbc, try this (not as good quality)

Penthesileia · 02/03/2009 21:27

The puke/ski story? I was just 11.

javierbardem · 02/03/2009 21:30

yes, the puke story, 11? oh that's bad!
are you normally an anxious person then? or when you just then?

javierbardem · 02/03/2009 21:31

maybe we shouldn't talk about puke, if franca is feeling puky.
could you be pregnant franca? that's what we need in little italy, un colpo di scena!

francagoestohollywood · 02/03/2009 21:33

Lol Lol Lol Penthe Thanks . I must confess that I would love to learn the Dirty Dancing routine

Javier, how was the soup?

Thanks for the wishes against the bug!

francagoestohollywood · 02/03/2009 21:34

Ups sorry it was Sunflower I should have thanked for the link

francagoestohollywood · 02/03/2009 21:34

And NO I'm not pg!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 02/03/2009 21:34

spookily that italian book [i numeri primi] starts with a girl of the same age having a similar situation skiing - different outcome and the beginning of a good book.

also it happened to me/us a countless times with dd1 baby not to be able to have lunch in a pub because of that. pathetic. I find things have changed for the better though.

franca it might be just this, I had it last week remeber. it lasted only the evening and the next day and just felt blargh. fingers crossed.

has anyone read anita brookner by any chance?

Penthesileia · 02/03/2009 21:36

I'm highly strung, I think, though less anxious than I was as a child. I was an anxious child, definitely: manifested itself in my getting v. stressed out about academic results; and I hated (and still do hate) putting people out and making a fuss (e.g. later, when I was 17, I went around for 3 days with a burning fever, aching painful liver, and jaundice (I had Hep A), before someone pointed out to me that probably I should go to hospital...)

Funny thing, my parents never put pressure on me to get good reults, etc.: I did that to myself.

Although... my dad, being a military man, does a good line in "what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger...."

On this occasion, I just couldn't face asking one of the other (bigger) girls for help; I was at a loss as to what to do... So... Yuck!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 02/03/2009 21:37

this was the other one, hope they work

Penthesileia · 02/03/2009 21:40

I should say I was an anxious pre-teen/teen. I don't recall my younger childhood being riven with anxiety!

God - I love that Dirty Dancing spoof - genius.

francagoestohollywood · 02/03/2009 21:41

Oh Have you read the Numeri Primi? Did you like it?

I hope so Pippi! I'm hear drinking my NUx Vomica, hoping for the best.

francagoestohollywood · 02/03/2009 21:45

Lol! Who are these people anyway? Why don't I know them?

I was an anxious pre teen either. I developed gastrite because I was scared of my professoressa di lettere at middle school, and I wanted her to like me. She was amazing.

francagoestohollywood · 02/03/2009 21:45

either? Somehow either doesn't sound right there

javierbardem · 02/03/2009 21:47

Will make the soup tomorrow and the cheesy porri thing the day after. I have lots of lots of bloody porri.

I hated putting people out too and still do, my mother wanted us to be independent very early, and got annoyed if we demanded anything. Bah.

The links really cheered me up.

Penthesileia · 02/03/2009 21:48

Robert Webb is on Peep Show on tv; That Mitchell And Webb Sound on radio - you can get it on Itunes if you have that.

The others: Keith is better know for being Avid Merrion - late night Channel 4 mad comedy - sex-obsessed star-stalker.

Paddy did Phoenix Nights with Peter Kay.

Did you see any of that when you were in the UK?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 02/03/2009 21:48

I did quite like it. not a masterpiece by any means but ok. a fast read though which usually means it gets forgotten quite as fast. I thought her caracter was much better developed and with more depth than his. having said that I have met a few people quite like him so not as strange and unreal as it seemed at first.
what did you think.

lol at the colpo di scena. yes better you than me! I really do not want to be the one that goes quiet for a few days then comes back and says ' girld there's something I have to tell you...' no no no please not now!!!

I'm going to have a march resolution - must read at least 2 books a month. how pathetic to the 15 or more pre dh. ahhh thise were the days

Penthesileia · 02/03/2009 21:49

Should I read I Numeri Primi then?

I too wanted teachers to like me. [saddo]

javierbardem · 02/03/2009 21:51

Poor Franca! It is amazing what kids and teens go through, these layers of anxiety. I had tummy ache because i had school phobia at one point. Horrid and such a waste of time too!

Penthesileia · 02/03/2009 21:51

Is it wrong that I vaguely fancy the one pretending to be Patrick Swayze, and definitely fancy Robert Webb as the flashdancing woman (nice legs!)

I am sick, obviously...

javierbardem · 02/03/2009 21:53

you read lots damon, no?
i actually called brandon the other day.
what are you ladies reading at the moment? i am on persepolis as i said yesterday, but reading it slwoly because of the net.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 02/03/2009 21:53

don't think I was very anxious actually... maybe a bit before the interrogazione occasionally. but no I don't think I am. even with the kids, if anything I 'erro nell'altro senso'. I am so laid back that sometimes I think I am a real idiot and my dd1 is far more responsible than me - and this is not a joke.
