Aka le Patatine

Sounds good, especially the cover.

The tossico was chased by a friendly taxi driver (headlines in the giornale di Monza "High Speed Car Chase to Apprehend Thief in Monza") as he recognised my bike from going to pick up DD. That's how they got him, never would have done normally. The thief was a bit thick though, I mean of all the bikes to nick he steals one with a huge child seat on the back. Like no one's going to notice it's not his...

lol!

So, the dvd is yours, I understand?

francagoestohollywood · 03/02/2009 12:21

I've been incredibly domestic this morning. I made arrosto!

Brangelina · 03/02/2009 12:27

I've done nothing at all except empty the dishwasher. To be fair I am writing lots of quotes to clients, so at least I feel a bit busy. Did you make yorkshire pud as well?

If no one else wants the DVD I don't mind having it. I'll pay you for it of course, or else if you want to keep it I don't mind just borrowing it. I have boxed sets of past episodes of Desperate Housewives if you want to borrow those (if you want to watch in English that is), plus any other children's stuff like Cbeebies mix, or Hit selection with Wiggles, Angelina Ballerina etc.

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 03/02/2009 12:32

No, I didn't. And it's a roast in padella with lemon and celery. It's huge, but i'd be nice having some left overs, as I work both thurs and friday morning.

Don't worry, the dvd was only 4 pounds something, and I have now decided that the pound equals the euro... you can get me un cappuccino da bastianello . I still have your mr men dvd.

Rosa · 03/02/2009 13:08

Brange- please please Angelina ballerina - Jim Jam took it off and we had tears last night it was her 7.15 ritual blooming Jim Jam . So I read both books and promised I would try to find it and video it ! Dh looked on emule but can't find it. I was going to order some books and a dvd off Amazon for her birthday but if you could help out in the mean time it would be great. My only offering is Mamma Mia in English !! Plus some old faves to be honest.
Mum sent pictures of Cornwall in snow FGS it never snows there - the last time was about 10 years ago. Its warmer here today but less rain we seem to have missed the snow again. Better go and feed dd - Sunflower it must be the weather dh looked at his girls last night and said where would I be without my tate? ( he has got a soft spot really !)

francagoestohollywood · 03/02/2009 13:11

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww you all have softie husbands
It stopped raining here as well. Gosh I'm fed up with winter.

poor dd. I remember we were all (yes, me included stunned when they stopped to air maisy (in the UK)

Brangelina · 03/02/2009 13:32

OK, I'll post it to you. It's only one episode on a multi programme DVD though, I haven't got a full set. I've got 2 of these DVDs, I can post you one at a time so DD doesn't notice the other one is missing. I'm not sure whether they can be masterizzate. I can try on the Mac and if it works I'll send you the copy to keep.
Mamma Mia would be fab. There was this Australian film with loads of Abba music in it - I think it was called Muriel's Wedding - which was very good as well. Nothing to do with anything, just thought I'd mention it in a rambling manner.

So your DH calls them tate as well, DD is or has been at various stages, patata/patatina, cipollina, another veg which I can't remember now, ciccetta and tusina (sp?).

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 03/02/2009 13:36

dd here is "gigia", "menta piperita" (or simply menta) and "puzzoletta"

ds is "padre boffo" and "mastro scoreggia"

Brangelina · 03/02/2009 13:44

Ah, in our house mastro scoreggia is papà (along with a few other choice names depending on my mood)

OP posts:
Brangelina · 03/02/2009 13:46

Do I detect a theme Franca? Are your children a bit "windy"? Do you feed them a lot of cabbage?

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 03/02/2009 13:50

Yes, they are windy and quite smelly, despite lack of cabbages

Brangelina · 03/02/2009 13:57

Lol! That reminds me, must pop out and get some ginger for my brussels sprouts. I think it might even have stopped raining (at last!).

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 03/02/2009 14:05

I have a bunch of erbette i wanted to cook with garlic and ginger, but MN has swallowed me and it's nearly time to get the puzzoletta. And mastro scoreggia has swimming lesson tonight. So we'll have the usual psycho drama of him not wanting to go....

Rosa · 03/02/2009 14:28

in my house ..Its is who does the smelliest poo and DH is also farty pants .
DD1 is tata, patata, amore mio grande and peanut . DD2 is Tatina, pulce, poo pants and tadpole !!!!
Brange I will e mail you and will get dh to try and dabble with Mamma Mia he should be able to !

Sputnik · 03/02/2009 14:57

Lol at all the nicknames. For some reason DH gets upset at my calling DS "sausage", I don't think he really understands the British love of sausages (even vegetarians).

I am not going to tell you DD's nickname as I have a rule not to write anything on mumsnet which might embarass my DC's should they ever read it one day. Suffice to say we are going to have to stop using it before she finds out what it means.

Still trying to get over the flu here, I felt not too bad yesterday but wobbly again today, but at least we seem over the worst and DH hasn't got it, by some miracle.

Rosa · 03/02/2009 15:01

Sputnik rest as it comes back the bas*ard flu virus if you don't manage to kill it off and you push yourself too much too soon.
Get well soon.
DD has been silly sausage daft banana to name a few !!

francagoestohollywood · 03/02/2009 15:27

I like sausage as a nickname a lot!
As a family, we have no shame. Ds is proud of being mastro scoreggia

Sput, try to rest as much as you possibly can, this year the flu is really bad.

PippiCalzelunghe · 03/02/2009 15:39

franca pls forward recipe for arrosto in pantola.

there's only one mastro scoreggia here, and a proud one at that too. imho it's neither funny nor sweet [vomit emoticon], at times grounds for divorce.

tip for gunky eyes (dd1)?

PippiCalzelunghe · 03/02/2009 15:41

oh I've made shepherd's pie for the first time... had friend around for numerous cuppas and still in pj (can see this un motivo ricorrente recently - blame the nursery being closed.)

gio71 · 03/02/2009 15:41

Rosa - Angelina Ballerina on at 16.50 on Jim Jam! They have changed all the bloody times around. Ds most upset when the Wiggles wasn't on at normal time this morn.
Sputnik defintely rest, I had 3 different viruses before xmas and am sure its because I didnt get rid of first one properly.
lol at nicknames and lol at windy children (am developing a 2 year olds toilet humour and finding thinhgs like him farting very funny
back to work ciao tutte

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 03/02/2009 15:47

LOL at all the mastri scoreggia! that title should be papa's in this house, though DS is following in his footsteps... DD is puzzetta at change time, tatina, scricciola, and few others, but with all these raspberries, she's turning into a Buffoletta. DS is also a peste and a rompi(scatole), and a monkey (that was actually his name for 2 weeks while we decided on a proper name...)

went for another walk in the park, then we had massive tantrum once we got back ("my feet are wet" "I told you not to run in the puddles" "but my feet are wet" "well what can I do about it in the middle of the road?" and once home "can't take my boots off" "use your hands" "can't take my jumper off" "use your hands" and then massive cry followed by slammed door and long sobs....)

Sputnik · 03/02/2009 16:01

I'm definitely trying to rest, I am very lucky as DH was supposed to be away this week and he postponed it to look after us. But I felt okish yesterday so we went to Ikea to look at furniture for the new house.

I really want to make a chocolate cake as it was our birthday yesterday (both of us!) but not sure I have the energy.

francagoestohollywood · 03/02/2009 16:18

Lol at finding the energies to go to Ikea!

Pippi you'll need a piece of veal for the roast (I'm sorry I'm talking meat when there are so many of us who are vegetarians), pieces like magatello, for instance.

Gently fry the meat in a nice big pan in olive oil and rosemary. Add chunks of celery (2 sticks) and gently fry for another few minutes. When it's ben rosolato, pour the juice of one lemon (or one and a half depending on size) and at least 2 glasses of water. Put a lid on and cook for around 2 hrs (add water if it gets dry). At the end add chopped parsley and basil.

Gio, why do children like the wiggles so much? I wonder .

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 03/02/2009 16:24

there's always energy for Ikea... and if feeling weak, then there's yummy food.... oh, and those oat and choc biscuits are to die for...... need to go and stock up on a few boxes....
