Minicorrect,
My ds's were with ts for a couple of years, and they are def a good agency, they are not a con, don't worry. My ds's had some nice jobs between them, my younger ds was really busy from about 3 months to 12 months old.
Their fees are quite high, but they do get work, Im not sure whats happened in regard to your payments though, sounds a bit confusing, you should call and speak to the manager, she is really friendly and helpful.
Hope this helps.

julie4travel · 31/08/2009 20:48

minicorrect, i can vouch the same as on the beach. we were with ts and they do get the work, its a shame re the fees yet they are a well established agency been going for years. normally they start representing your child from 01 jan even though the photoshoot is in oct, thats how it worked with us. Good luck!

Can anyone help? Dd3 was offered a place with Bizzy Kidz. What I'm a little confused by is that they ask for you to submit your own photos for the website if I am not mistaken?

Does this mean that the pictures will be less likely to be selected by a client if they are not professionally taken? Or can they see what they are looking for in any kind of photo? I only entered her for a laugh - did not expect her to be accepted and in one photo I sent she had vomit on her chin - I realise this would not be ideal for portfolio pictures though!

I just wanted to post to say thanks for all the help & advice on this forum.

DS had a (private) photoshoot a few weeks ago and, on seeing the photos, lots of people commented that we should get him into modelling. Not knowing where to start, I did some Googling and stumbled across one of the older modelling threads on mumsnet. It's been incredibly helpful, both to find different agencies' names and to hear people's experiences with each. So far, we've had "yes"es from BabyShak, Elisabeth Smith, Truly Scrumptious & Rascals. We're awaiting responses from B&B, MOT, NCA and Scallywags (I think - I'm losing track already!). Unfortunately, UAS aren't opening their books till November, even for babies.

We're really just holding out for B&B...

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks!

Tinkerbel6 · 09/09/2009 14:17

Hi, wait until you hear from the others before you decide, have you tried Kids London, Bonnie and Betty and Alphabet Kidz ?

nappyaddict · 09/09/2009 15:45

I want to apply for DS at a few places but I'm not sure what sort of photos are best and I need to pick 2 to send off.

Do you think this, this or this would be any good or is it best for them to be at least smiling? We don't have many of those .... am never quick enough with the camera lol. Have managed to dig out this one though.

twirlymum · 09/09/2009 16:02

My dd (now 8) was with NCA for years, and had some really good jobs. She had to stop when she started school, as the headteacher was very awkward about her going to jobs, and didn't co-operate regarding licenses.
ds (2.6) was accepted by Scallywags this spring, but my work hours changed, so I thought it was pointless if I couldn't get him to castings etc (why is it always a phone call the day before?).
Really enjoyed it with dd, she loved it, but we have some lovely books/catalogues etc to keep with her in,(and she has a very healthy bank balance!)

electra · 09/09/2009 22:09

nappyaddict - wow your ds is stunning isn't he? From the limited amount of time I have been looking into this I have found that it's best for the child to be looking at the camera - not sure if that's necessary for photos that are used for assessment though...

Can model agencies see potential that maybe I cannot? Although she is very cute I would not have thought dd3 would get chosen in a million years.....

becknsteve · 10/09/2009 15:14

Very cute, nappyaddict!!!

You generally don't need professional shots for assessment - they just need to be clear. Depends on the agency, though, as some have very specific requirements (which is why I didn't apply to Alphabet Kidz, as they insisted on photos of DS in a white t-shirt against a white background and it was too much trouble). Most agencies say they can tell from your own snaps if your child is photogenic or not.

I sent a combination of the professional photos and some of our own to all the agencies. I cropped and brightened our photos to make them a bit more impressive and focussed on DS's face. If you want any help doing the same with yours, let me know. This is the photo that started it all (can't seem to upload pics to Mumsnet) but I sent some that I took myself too.

I also ruled out Kids London as they won't accept photos over email and I don't tend to print pics.

Thanks for the tip though, Tinkerbel - DS has been accepted by Bonnie & Betty now too! I've never heard of them before - are they any good?

So we've got 5 offers now: however will I choose? (Haha, it's a hard life, isn't it?)

becknsteve · 10/09/2009 15:35

OK, I've managed to upload photos now: nappyaddict, see my before and after pics on my profile to see how I edited them before sending them to the agencies.

againandagain · 10/09/2009 16:03

Hi,
Am new here! Hope you can help. My DD has been asked to go for test shots with Childsplay (am not going as they want 25 pounds for them!). Have got email saying she has been excepted to Babymodels UK (not going to go with them as they have just asked me to direct debit money- no meeting or phone call!) Elisabeth Smith ( who I worked for as a toddler) has said to send photos in a months time, as at the moment she is only three weeks old. However they said they will keep her photos on file and contact me if they have any work for newborns- does this sound like a fob off to anybody?? Or are they just being more sensible? Also have been asked to go for test shots at scallywags. Does anyone know if they dont ask some to go for test shots or do they ask everyone who applies?

Sorry for all the Q but I hope you can help!! Thanks xx

Tinkerbel6 · 11/09/2009 14:26

Nappyaddict I think the first 2 closeups would be ok to send to an agent, good luck.

Beck Bonnie & Betty are a new agency so just starting out, people have had work with them, I would say consider them but still wait until you get all your responses back.

Again I would suggest applying to the low fee agencies such as BB, KL, UA etc, ES are very expensive and have lots of babies on their books, scallywag are also expensive, try thers first and wait until you have all the responsed back before you decide.

nappyaddict · 11/09/2009 17:13

Tinkerbel who is your DC with and how long have the been modelling?

Tinkerbel6 · 13/09/2009 11:20

We have been with Bruce and Brown for 3 years now.

nappyaddict · 15/09/2009 23:56

Annoyingly the web page for UAN wasn't working when I tried to apply so we missed the deadline.

Can I have your opinion of these photos too please?

Tiasmummy · 16/09/2009 18:24

Bonnie and Betty..??...does anybody know if this is the same Bonnie that used to work for Bizzy Kidz? She does not work there anymore, and this new agency is also in Kent like Bizzykidz, so thinking she may have branched out on her own??

Luce2006 · 16/09/2009 19:19

yes, she's the same person.
SHe left Bizzykidz and set up her own agency

isnowsoonenough · 17/09/2009 17:03

Urban Angels called earlier today. I have been asked to take dd for a consultation. She's just home from secondary school and very pleased with the news as she didn't know I'd sent her pics in.

fabhead · 21/09/2009 01:02

can someone give me some reputable agencies in Surrey or South London thanks

berri · 22/09/2009 16:00

Hi all,

Have any of you had any experience of Rascals? They have accepted my 9mo ds but their fees are pretty steep and I haven't really heard them mentioned in any of these threads - does anybody have any advice?

isnowsoonenough · 22/09/2009 16:59

www.albamodel.info Makes for interesting reading. Hope it may help someone. There is also a link on therefor name and shamed agencies.

berri · 22/09/2009 17:51

Thanks, can't see anything about Rascals on that or any of the other sites - good or bad! Maybe they're quite small and not really used??

sazzleevans · 23/09/2009 11:51

Anyone heard of twinagency.com?

Thanks
