xtracex - I decided to see if my dd was model material because I thought she'd enjoy it, but mainly it was because I thought I'd enjoy it! She was 3 months old, so it is hardly like it would have made any difference to her one way or another. But I thought it would be fun, and it was nice that agencies thought she was model material (read it is an ego boost for the parents - I would say for all parents even if that isn't going to be the main motivation for doing it). So, I'd say don't worry, see how your dd finds it, how you find it (since it is commitment from you, and in theory just fun for her), and go from there. Although, it is such a hit and miss industry (in terms of getting castings or jobs), I wouldn't invest to much into it (financially or emotionally - it is hard not to get impatient about not getting castings!) - but it sounds like you are being cautious about not doing that.
I'm sure there are pushy parents, but there are pushy parents for all things - child modelling, stage schools, ballet schools, sports parents, academic achieving parents etc etc.
With regards to your question about being in the room - I'm not sure what the answer is. My dd is too small for it to be a question
For the bruce and brown ladies - they are considered to be a great agency so congrats for being taken on, and fingers crossed the extra pictures turn it into a yes
