good luck with tmro, would you post how it went?

marymay · 11/06/2009 09:56

MABS...ds had his updated photos on sunday ,dd ( 13 )had hers done in december.
The make up lady will put a little make up on her ,stlye her hair how they like it.Then take some head shots and maybe some full body ones. You get to view them on the computer and then they will have a little chat.
you should get a phone call about a week or so later.Well I think its a week ,Its a few year since my kids joined them .If they want to offer your dd a contract. Then they tell you more about the modelling business .good luck

Hello all. This is my first post on here, but I've been reading for a while.

I have a 3 month old DD and love her to bits. However, lots and lots of people have been telling me she's a little doll so I threw caution to the wind and sent some photos into some of the agencies mentioned here on Weds.

So far Truly Scrumptious and BK have come back and accepted her. TS want to meet her (£15 admin fee) and BK want us to send in more photos, a form and the £120 registration fee for the webpage.

Obviously I can't afford to go with all the agencies that might come back and are interested so I wonder how do you choose the best one to spend the money with? Just going for the cheapest might mean she's less likely to get work as they'll probably have loads more kids on their books? Is this right?

We live in central London and I'm on a year's maternity leave so getting to castings/jobs is no problem for us.

PS that's a really useful link Julie - thanks!

pureeandpearls · 12/06/2009 13:45

Back from UA- DD not that thrilled to wake from sleep to have pics done but its only an update so all good.

Minicorrect- agencies tend to be sole anyway so you'd only be shelling out money to one. I went with UA because I liked their approach, nothing else. We haven't had that much work though have done many many castings. I don't think that money spent = money earned f that makes sense.

allyfe · 12/06/2009 14:03

Hi Julie
My dd is also 3 months We have just signed with Kids London (yesterday), so I was going through the process you are last week! We got accepted by Baby Shak (associated with bk), but on reading the sites I decided that they seemed to accept a lot of people and although they are reputable, a lot of people don't get work because of the internal competition I guess. We also got accepted by NC, who are good but they charge £75 for the photoshoot and website admin.
As pureeandpearls said, most are sole agencies, so it might be best to have a look at the different charges and see which you want to go with. Of the free (or very cheap ones) UA is an excellent agency, but their books are closed. The others are Bruce and Brown and Kids London. Also, if you have a look at netmums - they have a really informative thread on baby modelling (about all the agencies). It is under join a club.
Good luck with the decision process

Julie - I just re-read your message a bit more carefully (sorry for not reading it properly the first time!). On reading the boards, I kept seeing that the top and most selective agencies were also the ones that were free (or with very low fees). They get the most submissions for representation, and because they don't charge much in the way of admin fees, I would think it isn't worth their while taking on hundreds of children for nothing because they are getting nothing to cover administration costs. THe ones that charge, on the other hand, they make money everytime they sign someone up and so there is no reason why they shouldn't sign up everyone that applies. ES, for example, are a very well respected agency but they have TONS of babies on their books (you can look through them online). Saying that, it isn't how a lot of the agencies that charge higher fees work. A lot are very selective (I think that TS is one of the selective ones but not totally sure). Ally x

Hello everyone!

Is anyone with Kids London?...I was just wondering...when I sent the forms back after being accepted I realized they never asked for any bank details....anyone knows how do they pay you after a job/casting?..feeling a bit shy to ask them directly ..
thx!

allyfe · 12/06/2009 21:11

Hi cacahuete,
We literally just signed with them yesterday . How exciting. Their little booklet mentioned payment in the childs name by cheque - so I think they don't pay direct into a bank account. How old is your dc - my dd is 3 months old.

cacahuete · 12/06/2009 22:08

Afternoon All,

I am usually just lurking and reading posts but I have a question. I just joined my 3 month old with BizzyKidz and have paid the £120 but have also been accepted with Elizabeth Smith. As ES do not allow you to be with any other agency is it worth swapping from your experience or are BK the one to stay with.

Thanks,

Amy

MABS · 13/06/2009 16:53

just back from UA, they were very professional, was v impressed

Totallyfloaty35 · 13/06/2009 17:35

will you go with them Mabs? my dd3 is with them and they have brilliant client list.My older dds are with different agents though as they were with acting agencies(through drama school) and u/a strictly sole agent. But they a lot friendlier than some other top agents to deal with and they always know who you are when you call, its very disheartening answering loads of questions from a booker and you know they have no idea who you or your child are,its NOT like that with U/A.

MABS · 13/06/2009 18:04

thats good to hear. If they accept her then i will say yes, think that right decision? bb and kl also want her, but ua are better aren't they?

she is not into acting at all, she a sporty type!

Tinkerbel6 · 13/06/2009 20:32

MABS KL and BB are on the same level as UA, they are all good agencies so its doesn't matter which one you choose, good luck with your choice.

MABS · 14/06/2009 09:24

thanks

cacahuete · 16/06/2009 12:59

MABS · 16/06/2009 19:01

Totallyfloaty35 · 16/06/2009 23:49

thats fab Mabs,my dd is with them and they are friendly with nice client list,im sure she will do well

Claire2009 · 16/06/2009 23:53

Can I ask a really stupid question?!

How do you know if you're Child is 'good' enough for modelling? Aren't we as Parents' extremely biased?!

My dd done a small bit in France, but since being in the Uk I've not looked into it, she's 3.4yo now. Have no idea where to start/if anyone would be interested?

Thanks

MABS · 17/06/2009 17:46

thanks Totallyfloaty. I can't really answer you Claire as my dd is 14.

liahgen · 17/06/2009 17:49

claire, just couple nice head shots showning your child, no posing, hats or "cute" chocolate face.

She'll need to be easy with strangers and not fuessed about getting dressed, there's alot of dressing and undressing.

Just send them off or email and see what happens,

Good luck

Tiasmummy · 21/06/2009 21:23

Hiya. Could somebody tell me what it means when an agency says your child is "pencilled in" for a job?

Thanks
