Hello ladys im new on here... looking for some help from the experts!

my 3 month old dd has had a yes from BK, ES, BS, Raskals, KK, SW, Bobby and betty, and AK.
Havent aplyed to KL coz couldnt be bothred to send photos off in the post, im thinking now I might do tho?

UA said there books were shut, are they not anymore? And NC said no... havent hurd from b&b.
Went for a photoshoot for carosel kids on sat and got some nice photos but the agency seemed realy small and didnt fill me with confidence bout getting any work.

Guess im just looking for someone whos an old hat to tell me what to do!!

Quite tempted with kitsch kids as the email back was quite personal and they sounded nice, has anyone any experience with them or seen any of there kids at castings?

sorry to go on and on.. realy in a pickle bout going with anyone!!!
Please help!

liahgen · 22/06/2009 07:53

tia to be pencilled means that the agency have been told your child is on the shortlist for a jo. They may or may not be chosen. If they're not, chances are you'll not be told. Who are you with?

Ua have closed their books again now till Autumn.

I ahve heard of Kitsch kids, wouldn't bother with Rascals, Scallywags or Es tbh in this day and age. Newer fresher agencies are getting the top end work.

Alphabet kids seem to be doing well at the moment aswell.

Tis worth sending pics to KL as they are one of the top agencies, they are very quick if your child is successful so don't worry about snail mail.

Hope this helps.

Totallyfloaty35 · 22/06/2009 08:57

SW very good busy agency,i know lots of kids with them who get a LOT of work,it doesnt tend to be the high end stuff like Junior/Vogue but lots of TV and toy catalogues etc. However fees are really high so try KL and give Bruceb time to reply.

oliverboliverbutt · 22/06/2009 12:24

i've said it before and will repeat it, AVOID scallywags.
DD was with them for 3 years and they just got worse and worse - adding more kids and upping their prices. They will take just about anyone.
We finally switched to UA after a YEAR of no work and my DD has been getting steady work with UA (latest is a spread in Junior).
Stay clear!

fattycatty · 22/06/2009 13:10

looking for some inside advice please. My dd has a photoshoot tomorrow but didnt have audition. bk said the client chose her from photos. I know thats good but im worried cos they hvent seen her. Does it happen that they ever get there and the client changes there mind? or am i being nervous for nothing here

has anyone else done one like this before?

Tiasmummy · 22/06/2009 13:37

Liahgen - Thanks for the reply. We are with Bubblegum. They have sent all the licensing stuff for me to forward on to my local authority. The job is on Fri 26th and Sat 27th so they are in quite a hurry for parents to get their forms sent off.

Thanks again.

oliverboliverbutt · 22/06/2009 13:37

Sounds like she got straight work to me, that's what you want!
The client obviously liked her from her photos. They won't change their mind when she gets there. They may not use the photos in the end, but she will get paid for the shoot.

MABS · 22/06/2009 13:45

should UA be sending me something to sign do you reckon?

oliverboliverbutt · 22/06/2009 14:18

MABS - they should be sending you out the contract to sign. There will be a copy for you and you send in your fee with the contract.

MABS · 22/06/2009 15:23

thanks oliver

yummymummyno1 · 23/06/2009 11:38

I have to disagree about SW - my ds has been with them since Oct and has had lots of work including a high end fashion shoot and many castings. My dd is with UA and not really had much.

Tiasmummy · 23/06/2009 13:48

Hi

With my daughters agency if the children are of school age then you have to have a form signed by the school authorising work that might occur during school time. The headmistress of my daughter's school wants to meet with me about the form tomorrow. Does anybody have any experience of this? Any ideas what she may want to say or to ask me?

Thanks

Totallyfloaty35 · 23/06/2009 15:33

Tis true Yummy,i know lots of kids with loads of work, although they are all older than 7yrs.My dd was with bruce brown and had nothing for a whole year, moved her to Bk and she got film role and lots of castings.I think some agencies are better for certain kids.I f your child doesnt fit the client list of an agency then they will be quiet no matter the agency.BUT as kids change so much it can be quiet for a year then busy again.

oliverboliverbutt · 23/06/2009 17:42

well, to each their own I suppose, but I was with them from 2002 to 2006-7 and what I saw there, I would never recommend them to anyone.
Totally disorganized, taking a huge intake of kids each time, their fees are ridiculous, and their 'in house photographer'? He used to run the phones.

julie4travel · 24/06/2009 08:52

oliverbutt - i can see where you are coming from and every agency works differently for each child, we were with sw and our photos with them were fab, they were efficient updating webpages etc yet we only had one straight job in a year which was less than what we paid out in joining fees, due to this we didn't renew and changed agency.

MABS · 24/06/2009 09:12

got UA contract ystdy, signed and sent off

Totallyfloaty35 · 24/06/2009 16:53

Gd move Mabs.
Oliver i agree they have a huge amount of kids and their fees are really high,im just saying that i know lots of busy children with them.I have dd2 with them,DD3 is with BK/MOT/JMM.DD3 is with u/a and has been since she was born pretty much,They are lovely to deal with as areBK.

MABS · 24/06/2009 17:46

good to hear

Totallyfloaty35 · 07/07/2009 19:42

Gosh very quiet on here! Any castings lately,MABS anything from U/A for you?
Still waiting for the new pics to go on u/a site,am wearing computer out keep checking

cacahuete · 08/07/2009 20:48

oliverboliverbutt · 09/07/2009 07:42

xtracex · 09/07/2009 13:44

Hi everybody, Im new to this site ( so be gentle with me), I am so glad I found this site, geeez your advice and threads are the most informative I have found yet, Ok, heres my story, I have a sassy 5 yr old daughter, everywhere I go people say she is the prettiest little girl they have ever seen ( I am biast of course lol), Just lately I have been thinking of signing her to a model agency but Im as confused as hell with all the different opinions and I have no idea what goes on at these places im a complete virgin on the matter. Ok, my first worry is that she will freak out, I think she is very spirited and is a very talented dancer and singer but thats in the privacy of our own consevertory, whether she would be that outgoin in a professional situation I have no clue, she loves having her picture taken and loves to pose, but again thats when I take them on my fone or a family member, but she is outgoing, so has she got the personality or do they just get used to it and start to have fun and like it ??? Secondly I live in stoke on trent and we have no reputable agencies round here ( but im willing to travel) any advice would be appreciated. Thanx in advance xxx

oliverboliverbutt · 09/07/2009 14:43

have you asked her if she wants to do it?
I say this because that is the key. So many parents drag their kids to castings that are truly not interested. They don't get any work and it is not very nice to see.

If she does then you have to send photos into a reputable agency and wait and see if they call her in for an interview.
They will then decide if they want to take her on their books.
Then you will really see if she is suited to the work once she gets a casting or job. Sometimes you think they might be great, and they really close up and give nothing to the casting directors.

oliverboliverbutt · 09/07/2009 14:45

oh and just wanted to say that almost everyone I have ever come across working with kids has been really friendly to them, but some castings can very quick and can be a bit disorienting for them.

MABS · 09/07/2009 14:48

dammit! dd got called for her first casting and we were on hols in sardinia!!
