...... do you realise we've been chatting now for almost 18months .

Berrie, thankyou for the very kind offer to mug your children. It's much appreciated .
Tbh the car only cost £150 last year so it's reached the end of it's days I'm afraid - we need to get another one.

I know the feeling though - I think I've done really well at the shops sometimes, but try as I might I can't get it below £100 a week. Must Try Harder.

Morning

I might be fragrant once more but I can't smell the results as I've caught dd's cold

Berrie · 13/02/2009 07:44

Uh oh...was worried that would happen.

Working all day today booooooo. Not looking forward to the drop off.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 13/02/2009 09:18

Working is good for the soul Berrie.

Phew. What a week. I've just had an hour's talk with DH, face to face. We started off shouting but ended up by reaching an agreement. I've agreed to see a shrink (if only to shut him up), and I've got DS for the weekend and on-going. I've threatened that if he ever does anything like this again, then that's it, I'm going for the farm. He's also agreed to go to hospital next week.

But we've covered a lot of ground. He's more than happy that I'm moving, and is also going to make some calls to see if he can find anything in the village. He's also going to pay my deposit and my outgoings should I be unemployed come April. I now feel emotionally and physically exhausted, so am taking the day off, as I wouldn't want to be unable to look after DS tomorrow, after all this.

And thanks you guys for being here. Big hugs.

oggsdog · 13/02/2009 10:24

(((Big hugs right back)))

Glad you've managed to knock some sense into him come to an arrangement. You must be totally drained now.
I hope you're putting your feet up with a cup of coffee .

My defenses have been lowered by this snotty cold and I've just snarfed the remainder of dd's birthday cake .
I didn't even like the damn thing in the first place but it was calling to me from the cake tin.

Berrie · 13/02/2009 12:12

Poor Zeb. I've said it before, but I do admire the way that you are able to work things out even though it's so traumatic. My parents just festered for decades when they split up and nothing was sorted which wasn't great for all of us.

Oggs, I do the very same.Dh bought some cream cakes last Saturday. I don't like cream cakes, they make me feel sick but I had to eat one even though it wasn't nice...

ProfessorCalculus · 13/02/2009 12:50

Phew! High drama chez Zeb. So glad you got it sorted.
Why does he think you need a shrink? Because o the ADs?
And why are you moving? Is it to be nearer to DS?

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 13/02/2009 14:17

There's a rule. If you don't enjoy the cake then it doesn't count.

I'm moving because this flat isn't really suitable for DS as it doesn't have outside space and DS isn't allowed to jump around when the landlord's working downstairs. I was always planning to move before the spring, but was waiting until after work was sorted out. However, I decided just to do it now to make it easier to have DS more and to have more fun.

I've just been to check the 2 places I'm interested in again. So now I have to decide which is best. They are the same rent but there are pros and cons for both. Naturally, the one that DS would like best is the one that is 5 years old and a bit tired, as opposed to the shiny brand new, bigger, en suite, centre of village...... on the other hand, the older one is next to my favourite pub, slap bang in the middle of beautiful countryside, stream, pond, large grounds..... (yep, rural idyll without the responsibility )

Berrie · 13/02/2009 18:29

Next to the pub, definitely !

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 13/02/2009 18:35

Ah, that's my Berrie!

oggsdog · 13/02/2009 18:41

"next to my favourite pub, slap bang in the middle of beautiful countryside, stream, pond, large grounds..." surely it's a no-brainer Zeb?
Sounds absolutely fantastic.

I always prefer older rather than newer properties, although five years is hardly old .

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 14/02/2009 06:16

Oy! You leave my poor little brain out of this. It's had a very difficult week.

I'm dragging DH over to see them this morning to see what he thinks, although I'm pretty certain he'll say pub too. However, it's a bottom-covering exercise so he can't use it against me later.

As for you lovely ladies, Happy Valentine's Day to you all. As I won't be having any romantic interludes today, I want to live all your days vicariously please. So do fill me in on all your lovely presents, cards, flowers, chocolates, dinner.......

I guess tonight I'll have a romantic date with Hugh.

Berrie · 14/02/2009 07:55

Dh has sent me flowers for years and years now but I told him not to any more. They cost too much money, though I wouldn't have minded him getting me a bunch from the supermarket. Couldn't be bothered this year with cards either. probably it's the first year we haven't bothered at all. Is this really sad or realistic?

Anyway, hope the viewing goes well. Happy Valentine's to you too!

oggsdog · 14/02/2009 20:39

You won't be getting any vicarious thrills from this end Zeb - we've never celebrated Valentine's Day in any way whatsoever during the 22 years we've been together.

Who is this Hugh of whom you speak? Mr Grant? What film?

We're all now totally full of this horrid coldy thing... headaches, sore throats, streaming noses, multiple sneezathons.
We thought dd had recovered but it's ambushed her again. Oh what a joyful way to spend half-term

My good news is that I've mastered the art of knitting in the round on DPNs and I'm now about a fifth of the way through my very first sock . Exciting huh?
It is for me. I've got a silly grin on my face and keep thrusting the sock at dh and dd who are both slightly nonplussed by it all... (guess who won't be getting any home-made socks unless they buck up their ideas? )

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 15/02/2009 08:26

A prophet is never welcome in their own home Oggs. Just ignore them and knit away. When you've cornered the world market in socks and have become a gazillionaire, they won't be laughing then.

So you all had a dull Valentine's? I went to bed at 7.30pm with a good book and cocoa following a lovely bath.

Dragging DS and DH off for the Kirstie & Phil moment this afternoon.

Berrie · 15/02/2009 09:54

Good luck with that....I love Kirstie and Phil.

oggsdog · 15/02/2009 11:51

Fingers for this afternoon Zeb.

oggsdog · 15/02/2009 11:59

Fingers crossed

oggsdog · 15/02/2009 11:59

Fingers crossed

oggsdog · 15/02/2009 12:01
Hmm
ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 15/02/2009 16:51

Are they still crossed?

OK, DH isn't mad on either, which is no surprise, but if he had to he'd go with one, it would be the new house, as the pub one really is too close to the pub and really is tired. He does, however, think I should wait until I know what's happening re work in case I end up in Bodmin or St Austell or something. I see his point, but I think I should go earlier in case I end up unemployed, then I won't get anywhere at all! Yet again, I'm going to sleep on it, but definitely say no to the pub.

Lovely day everyone?

oggsdog · 15/02/2009 18:09

Oh dear. You'll get there in the end.

Had a lazy day here so not much to report.

Berrie · 15/02/2009 18:47

Oh dear, decisions decisions.

We took the dc to see Madagascar 2. It was their 1st time at the cinema, they got bored.
Have not done much else really. DH is reading a bedtime story to dc then we'll watch star treck.

oggsdog · 15/02/2009 20:02

I didn't think Madagascar 2 was anywhere near as good as the first one (we watched a dodgy copy and in the middle when Alex? the lion was giving a speech, for about 2 mins he switched from speaking in english to something that sounded like Russion ).

Dd in bath. I'll shortly be shuffling her off to bed with some Horlicks and then it's my turn in the bath. Dh gets last go.

Berrie · 16/02/2009 08:58

Morning!

I didn't enjoy it much either.
This morning am revelling in not having to feed, wash and clothe dc and be out of the house in time. We have plenty of time, getting up at 6.30 so why is it so stressful?
Perhaps I need to get them washed and dressed before they are allowed downstairs. Perhaps I need to take a hammer to the TV.

oggsdog · 16/02/2009 10:18

I've always had a rule of no tv in the mornings under any circumstances on schooldays.

We're still usually last minute but can't imagine how bad it would be if she could have the goggle box on.
If she is ready with bag packed, shoes on and coat to hand before we're ready to leave then she can read a book or use her ds (very rarely happens tbh).

I get up at 6:45ish, do the fires, let the dog out (often have to clear up mouse innards unless the dog has eaten them ) and take dh a cup of tea.
Then I have a cup of coffee and either read, do lists or come on computer until 7:30 when I wake dd up.
Between 7:40ish and 7:50ish I shout at dh and dd to get up, and then spend the next 3/4 hour getting lunches ready if needed, getting breakfasts and generally chivvying everyone along.
At 8:30 dh leaves to take dd to school and I can breathe out and have another coffee.
