Ciao, hello, welcome!

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 11/11/2008 13:02

what is a pudding basin?

OP posts:
Brangelina · 11/11/2008 13:06

It's like a bowl that goes in the oven. Like the bowls christmas puddings come in (though those are supposed to be steamed).

francagoestohollywood · 11/11/2008 13:24

no idea!!! (ma quelle in silicone???)

OP posts:
Brangelina · 11/11/2008 13:31

Ah, hadn't thought about silicone. Will they have the right shape I wonder? Mind you, I have memories of my mum spilling hot oil on the floor when she got the silicon tray of roast potatoes out of the oven. Never use silicone for anything that is not a cake, disaster will ensue as there is no way of holding the thing straight unless you are an octopus.

francagoestohollywood · 11/11/2008 13:49

lol, yes will keep it in mind!

I was in via Montenapoleone this morning and saw the Aprica buggy store. There was a horrendous fur buggy in the window guarda un po'

Isn't it horrible?

Brangelina · 11/11/2008 14:32

I think I'll start a thread to shock people. Most were horrified by the Maclaren leather thing. They ain't seen nothing yet!

francagoestohollywood · 11/11/2008 14:36

Yes, start a thread.
I once posted (rather successfully ) the pic of a "graffiti" buggaboo...

I once saw a very weird buggy in exeter, it was padded leather, but it wasn't the maclaren... never found out what it was, despite asking about it here...
have to go pick dd and take ds to swimming pool. I'm knackered already

OP posts:
Brangelina · 11/11/2008 14:38

I need to start cooking. Also to finish my work project.

Sputnik · 11/11/2008 14:48

God those buggies are mad, what was the price tag?

I needed a laugh, having spent the morning at the pronto soccorso. I shut DS's finger in the door

Brangelina · 11/11/2008 14:51

God knows, but the carseat costs around 2000 euros and that's without fur.

Your poor DS. I did that to DD too, but luckily my cat also got in the way so prevented further damage. Cat is OK by the way.

francagoestohollywood · 11/11/2008 20:19

Oh no Sputnik . How is he? Is the finger broken?

have a laugh

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 11/11/2008 20:22

I try again:

www.designboom.com/contemporary/bugaboo.html

The "normal" Aprica costed 1.200.000 liras in 2001 pre euro. I had a few friends who owned it... Another friend told me that they got stolen at the paediatricians

OP posts:
Brangelina · 11/11/2008 20:29

Lovely. Is that the guy who designed those pupazzi for that car advert? His puppets look quite familiar. Love the hair, I was toying with that colour for a wall in DD's bedroom, but have decided to go a bit darker.

When I was pg with DD we were so at the prices of buggies we used to follow people with nice pushchairs with an eye to swiping them It wasn't me i 2001 though!

francagoestohollywood · 11/11/2008 20:42

I had a buggy inferiority complex...

OP posts:
happychappy · 12/11/2008 07:57

Who owns these buggies, How do they keep them clean?

Rosa · 12/11/2008 08:27

Rosa alive - wants to write lots and catch up with you all but you all know what am going through - God have the sorest nipples round - was it this bad last time ??????
Promsie to try and catch up but dd2 feeding a fair bit in the day , colic early pm and last night she settled at 1.45 am then fed a few hrs later so eyes are drooping round boobs that are drooping round tummy.
Re aprica dd2s friends in nido ( twins) she had 2 Aprica with gold / fur lined snuggle bags inside them- I did not know her then and was when I first saw them she is actually a lovely lady as I look at my recycled traumatic peg perego pram !!!!!

francagoestohollywood · 12/11/2008 12:17

Hello Rosa!!! I hope dd2 will soon settle in a more "sleep friendly" (for you of course!) pattern. Aw, I sort of miss those sleepless first days... they are so tiny and cuddly
I had really sore nipples with ds and used to apply OSMINRAG (in farmacia), which I thought worked very well.

I don't really know anyone with furry buggies, they might take them to the dry cleaner!!!

OP posts:
Sputnik · 12/11/2008 17:06

I found that pure aloe gel stuff really good for sore nipples.

Brangelina · 13/11/2008 10:58

Ouch, sore nipples, I remember that well. I had Lanisoh but it never seemed to make a difference, it just made my boobs a fluff magnet. The only thing that worked for me was the milk squeezed out and left to dry. A friend of mine swears by those silverette things.

How lovely having a newborn, I almost envy you those sleepless nights (although DD has been waking me up at 3am lately, but it's not the same). I hope you're putting your feet up and getting lots of help.

Brangelina · 13/11/2008 11:03

Was walking down expensive shopping street again this morning and saw some boots to die for. Lovely ankle boots, although I'm not sure of the wisdom of ankle boots with my spindly calves, but they looked lovely in the window. 920 euros though, I'd be perennially worried about getting them scuffed. I wonder if I should put them on my Christmas list to DP.

francagoestohollywood · 13/11/2008 18:23

920 euros , that is a lot, which brand? (fashionista emoticon).
Have been feeling very nostalgic of the UK lately. boo hoo, can I cry for 2 mins on here?

OP posts:
gio71 · 13/11/2008 18:40

what are you missing Franca?

francagoestohollywood · 13/11/2008 18:53
  • friends
  • our lovely house, I keep imagining it ruined by our tenants
  • it is more a question of "what ifs", things like I could have done so and so... the progress the dc would have made at school, the things we could have done with friends (like I got really teary at the memory of bonfire night last yr with friends of ours etc).

When I was there it was all "what ifs" if we were in Italy, now it's the reverse...
And of course I miss Boots (have bought a fantastic conditioner last time I was there, i cannot find it here)

OP posts:
gio71 · 13/11/2008 19:21

Am also renting out my place in UK Franca, I cant think about it too much. If I start thinking about all the furniture I was so excited about buying, I had handmade wooden bedroom furniture which I LOVE, and then the idea of skeggy tenants on my lovely leather sofa ...
Its always difficult when you have lived in 2 places, you never really belong in either 100% from that point on.
Just think it was probably vile weather for bonfire night, in fact they were probably all rained off
