Just thought we should start a September thread

Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone on UAN, hope it's good news and acceptance's all round

Hi guys, not long been back from today's job. DS1 seemed to really enjoy himself, there were 9 kids in total doing it! Josh was dressed as a vampire and had his face painted too, I did manage to get a pic of his make-up which is nice!

Can't recall who else had a job or casting today, how did they go?

OP posts:
liahgen · 10/09/2008 22:58

we had the german biscuits today. About 15 boys in total, ranging from my ds, youngest at just 5, to an 8 yr boy. Most had longish hair.

He had to say, it's the christmas star, bless him.

Don't know how he did cos didn't go in with him, but he came out smiling, so who knows.

MelodyDaisy · 10/09/2008 23:00

liahgen- Glad your DS1 obviously enjoyed himself

It's horrible not being in there with them isn't it?! Hopefully it won't be long before you find out, do you know when it start's shooting?

mummyshoneys · 10/09/2008 23:02

Glad to hear your day went well MelodyD and Liahgen - we had our first casting today, with Boden, and it was fine - dd2 and ds went in individually so didn't get to see, but they seemed pretty pleased with themselves!

Hope everyone else had a good day

x

MelodyDaisy · 10/09/2008 23:11

Reall, really pleased for them mummyshoneys, all you can do is hope they come out smiling, atleast then you know they've done their best and enjoyed it, then it's up to cd to decide

Do you know when they are shooting? Hopefully be only few days before you'd find out

filming is the last week in Sept, so would have thought we'd hear by end of week if they interested.

Glad you lo's enjoyed their boden pics, I've always found them to be really friedly at Boden.

Are you having a quiet week Melody? Sometimes when you have a period of being really busy, you get to the point when you think, no more, then they have a quiet spell, and you're willing the phone to ring.

MelodyDaisy · 11/09/2008 10:10

Not yet, I almost thought we were to have a bit of a decent rest and not have anything this week, but then along came yesterday's job!! :0

Last week DS1 had 2 castigns and one job. It was kinda weird not being phoned what felt like every day though!! BUT, would not complain if there wasn't anything for a while, give us chance for pay day to arrive first :0

OP posts:
ichef · 11/09/2008 12:36

mummyshoneys were at boden too what time were you there? was it packed when you were in?

Melody I also take costs out of kids earnings and I really do think it's fair and a lot more realistic and know that even then we still won't always cover it seeing that in a lifetime we'll do a lot more castings then jobs and some of them aren't even paid, I think it's fair enough, we're investing time and effort and it can cost quite a lot.
Glad your ds enjoyed his job, he doesn't stop!!

Things have started picking up for dd which is great, she's had a couple of castings last week and a couple more this week and just heard she'll have a straight job tomorrow for some sort of toy catalogue and as it's her first uk job you can all imagine how happy she is. Nothing for ds1 yet.

Anyone heard from UAN?

MelodyDaisy · 11/09/2008 13:35

Ichef, that is great news You been busy, busy now!

Glad you take travel cost's too! My kids just would not be able to do this if I had to keep finding all this money to get them to these places if I didn't take it out of their money.
You must let us know how her first job goes

mummyshoneys · 11/09/2008 13:40

Hi ichef

we were there at about 2.40 - I had thought the drive would take muuuuuuch longer than it did, so got there as one of the first! It was quiet when we were there, just another couple of mums and kids. Did it fill up later? I was expecting it to be much busier than it was actually.

lyndall · 11/09/2008 13:41

Ichef and Mummyshoneys, we were at the Boden casting yesterday too. Got there at 4.30ish and were there for an hour or so - loads of children there so not hopeful at all. DS went in on his own, he said they took photographs and a short video film.

Luce2006 · 11/09/2008 19:40

Hi there! ~First of all big congratulations to all the kiddies who had castings during the pst few weeks!! Now I am starting to get a bit jelous LOL I'm sure the time will come for my ds as well!

I was just wondering, does any of you know if Urban Angels allow you to be with an acting agent as well?

Thanks!

MelodyDaisy · 11/09/2008 20:10

I don't think so, but no doubt someone will be along to give a definite answer soon .

How long have you been with UA? People have said that it's normally a couple of month's before anything comes along. Have you previously been with another agent before UA? Here's hoping you get something soon x

P.S. My DD has had one casting since joining 4 weeks ago and my DS2 has not had anything yet, so you are not alone. Alot can do with age as well as to when work become's available and I expect that my DD and DS2 will be a fair while before anything comes up.

OP posts:
Luce2006 · 11/09/2008 20:22

he got offered a contract in June just a week before we went on holiday and we came back at the end of July so technically, he's been with them for not even two months and I know it can take few months for things to pick up.He's also just turn two and this doesn't help!!!

MelodyDaisy · 11/09/2008 20:48

Aah, the age will be a big thing like my DS2.Although he is 3 he's more like 2 so I know it's not just because he isn't good enough, but also there isn't loads of work for that particular age group.

MelodyDaisy · 11/09/2008 22:28

Anyone else on here with AK?

Also got to see my kids on the website today, was really nice to finally see them

brooke77 · 12/09/2008 08:36

hi luce.. hope all well with u and your ds ! its most definitely to do with age.. dd waited about 6 weeks after we joined rascals for her 1st casting and has had about 4/5 castings and a couple of jobs so far, which i think is pretty good tbh ! there is generally less work for this age group than baby ages and older children plus still relatively a lot of kids of this age on agency books.. but having said that, just have to be a bit more patient.. your lad has a great look and a super personality so am sure your phone will start ringing ! UA wouldnt have taken him on unless they felt they could get work for him ! i'm pretty sure they are sole agency and i think MOT are a good one to go with for modelling if you want an acting agent too.

lots of good luck to all waiting to hear (imminently!) from UAN

Luce2006 · 12/09/2008 09:47

Yes, we're fine, thanks. How is your little madam?
Just struggling a bit with my parenting skills tho!! Ds has started making runs for freedom and hiding himself in shops and I think I've probably lost 10 years of life lately!!!!

I know UA are sole rep but I know of someone who's with KL for photographic and another agency for acting, that's why I asked

I second Brooke:good luck to all of you waiting to hear from UAN

MelodyDaisy · 12/09/2008 10:10

Generally they are only okay if you with a theatre school agent and not just another agency like themselve's.

OP posts:
yackertyyack · 12/09/2008 11:33

Luce - I think you will have to ask the agency directly as I think in some cases kids are with the acting agency first and they have agreements in place to only send for model jobs not not acting and vice versa. Also, not many acting agencys take on under 4s as there is not very much work for them as they are difficult to direct!!! We all know what its like when you ask a toddler to do something....they usualyy do the opposite!!!

ichef · 12/09/2008 13:13

lyndall and Mummyshoneys we were there at around 4.00is and was very full i might have seen you lyndall as we were there for about 45mins

Luce ds1 we haven't had anything for ds1 either so same as you really. Fingers crossed our phones starting ringing very soon!

totallyfloaty35 · 12/09/2008 15:55

u/a do not allow you to be with acting agent as she submits for acting work, sorry.

MelodyDaisy · 12/09/2008 16:59

Hi. My DS1 has another casting on Monday for a TV Channel Ident, anyone else going to be there?

OP posts:
mummyshoneys · 12/09/2008 18:19

Gosh MelodyD, his feet aren't touching the floor! It must be so exciting for him (and exhausting for you!) Let us know how it goes x

MelodyDaisy · 12/09/2008 18:36

mummyshoneys-LOL!!
Still getting used to it all but the past fwe weeks had been exhausting, not too bad now though

Filming would be on the Friday of next week so we'll know pretty much straight away whether he get's picked or not, who knows Luckily it's not till gone 4pm so he won't miss any school.
