Anyone heard on UAN yet?

OP posts:
tinkerbellchelle · 09/09/2008 15:59

Melody congrats to your DS

Nope heard nothing yet - Sarah said it would be by Monday 15th so almost a week left.
Its so hard as they give you no indication as to how they feel LOL! Wish the wait wasn't so long

liahgen · 09/09/2008 16:16

jojo, lovely little fella.

well dome Melody, Toys r us, often go without castings, quite alot of companies do it once they get to know you.

thanks for your comments ladies. Just looked myself, they need updating, lol.

Good luck anyone waiting to hear from anything

MelodyDaisy · 09/09/2008 17:41

Cheers! Hopefullly they'll like him and want to use him for other things too, you never know

The waiting game is horrible isn't it? Still keeping my finger's crossed for all you UAN waiters

Oh I am glad I didn't miss the pics jojo, he's a handsome little man, and the "butter wouldn't melt" expression! Lovely

TheNinkynork · 09/09/2008 19:05

Congrats from me too, MelodyDaisy!

Onthebeach · 09/09/2008 19:26

Well done to your ds, melody daisy, bet he's looking forward to spending some of this money he's earnt so far!
Have you heard anything for your other dc yet?
My youngest did babies r us, he is in their new catalogue out now, I don't think they do castings first which is always nice. We had to go to high wycombe.

3kids1cat · 09/09/2008 19:38

Hi, congrats to your ds md. Sounds like a fun job.

Just got back from the dfs casting, went ok. photographer was nice, dd was tired though so not her usual fun self, so doubt there's much chance.

JoJo your ds is gorgeous.

MelodyDaisy · 09/09/2008 19:42

Onthebeach-You'll have to tell me what page and I'll go have a look

I get excited for everyone who has stuff coming up or in a magazine etc

In regards to the money, travel cost's have to be taken out,it's not a realistic thing to be doing if I don't and the rest will be saved!! I may let him buy himself one thing, but it'll be ages before any money comes through so everything is coming out of our pocket so far!

Does everyone else take cost's out? Or pretend they don't exist?! lol

OP posts:
MelodyDaisy · 09/09/2008 20:01

3kids1cat-you can never tell though so don't cross it off yet? Did you have to travel far for the casting?

OP posts:
liahgen · 09/09/2008 20:45

I don't take costs but that's cos we are lucky enough to get free rail travel with dh's job.

I just swallow it if i decide to drive as i did the other day. Lots people do though.

My friends dd, (15) just got taken on by rascals today, she's really looking forward to it. I'm so pleased for her, she's had a real run of bad luck in recent times.

I let my kids spend some of their money sometimes, ds wanted a ds couple yeras ago, no birthday or Xmas, so i said he could buy it himself, he waqs quite happy to do so.

3kids1cat · 09/09/2008 20:48

Hi Melody, the casting was in Hammersmith so was a couple of tube rides, plus then we have the train journey from the midlands. You're outside London too aren't you?

If and when dd gets a job I'll have to take some of the travel costs out. So far it's coming out of my pocket but it's not about the money, more the experience.

MelodyDaisy · 09/09/2008 21:11

You are very lucky Liahgen!!

3kids1cat-Glad someone else is taking the cost's of travel out, about the opportunitie's for my kids too, but could not afford for them to have all these opportunitie's without re-couping just the travel jobs. Have spent nearly £300 in less than one month already

OP posts:
MelodyDaisy · 09/09/2008 22:52

3kids1cat- Yes I am outside London, I live in Milton Keynes. You do have a family railcard don't you? With it I save £7 on each journey

OP posts:
mummyshoneys · 10/09/2008 09:53

Hi ladies

we have a boden casting today and I was wondering if anyone could tell me a bit about it. Someone said earlier that they would take casual shots and measure etc, but how does it work? Do they take a few kids in at once, or is it individual? Do they chat to the kids? Will mine be OK in school uniform? Feeling a bit nervous as it is their first casting - hopefully it will a good experience!!

Also, if anyone has been to The Worx do you know if there is parking nearby?

thanks x

Tinkerbel6 · 10/09/2008 10:09

MelodyDaisy I pay for photo updates out of my daughters money and if I am really brassic will take out fares, have only done that once but this is acceptable as its regarded as expenses, if someone hasnt got any money for fares then they aren't going to be able to get their child to a casting or a job so don't feel guilty about dipping into your son's money.

3kids1cat · 10/09/2008 10:53

mummyshoneys, I was at The Worx yesterday, it's down a small sidestreet, I think you might be able to park down there because there were lots of cars parked there. I got the tube though so can't say for sure.

Melody, yes I've got a family railcard, I save about £20 each time I travel, so I wouldn't be without it!

yackertyyack · 10/09/2008 14:00

Shoneys, we did boden last year and they saw each child one at a time (with parent), measured them and then took some snap shots - Very quick casting but they seemed to be seeing loads - they also already had a list of 'favourites' drawn up!!
I think school uniform is fine - shows they are normal kids and hopefully with only a couple of weeks into term it still fits!!!! Good luck and am 90% sure you can park there although not sure what the traffic will be like in rush hour,,,, the tube is only about 5mins away.
