Just thought we should start a September thread

Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone on UAN, hope it's good news and acceptance's all round

Melody - ds loved the casting yesterday but there were so many kids I doubt he has any chance. how did it go for you?

soph28 BK are not a scam they do have jobs and I have seen their kids at castings so they definitely get work having said that imo you should try all the reputable agencies before making up your mind, not sure where you're based but there are lots of nice agencies some don't charge anything to join others charge more than BK but at the end of the day you'll have more options and will be able to tell what's right for your child.

puffling · 25/09/2008 13:15

Model mums, just had a n e mail from UAN asking for my dd's bank details. Are there different types of bank account for children? What shall I go for and who with? Thanks

soph28 · 25/09/2008 13:17

Hi all, thanks for replying. I know BK are not a scam but I have heard mixed reports in that they have a lot of models so difficult to get work. We are based between Glasgow and Edinburgh so I will try and look for some other agencies!

MelodyDaisy · 25/09/2008 13:33

Their Scottish place may not have as many children on their books so could work out okay, check all of them in your area first so you can make a better judgement

Ichef-DD smiled beautifully but we had to wait an hour!! DS1 enjoyed his and said it went okay so who knows!

christabel · 25/09/2008 15:44

Everyone accepted by UAN check you emails as asking for bank details. Still no contract through but hopefully next week.

totallyfloaty35 · 26/09/2008 11:50

Hi all,U/A take ages to put up the photos on site,or send them out, same with contracts so dont get to worried about the wait.
Middle DD just been confirmed for straight job,its for disney, she will be so excited

Congrats Melody and totally. Must be so nice to just get a job without having to go to castings. Does it happen often? Do the companies just choose them from their photo on the website?

tinkerbellchelle · 26/09/2008 17:08

ahh bless him Melody Good luck to him

We're off to Lanzarote on Sunday for 2 weeks but look forward to hearing everyone's news when we are back

MelodyDaisy · 26/09/2008 17:12

3kids1cat-Seems to happen a fair bit for photographic work, they'll just pick from picture's on agency website which is nice!

HELP Have a bit of a dilemma. DD accepted by UAN and am really pleased but started looking around for a new agency as had nothing from current agency since Feb and then DD had a straight job 2 weeks ago and has another on Monday. So do I stick with current agency and not go with UAN or just go with UAN and see what happens. Any advice.

sobusy · 26/09/2008 20:44

Go with your gut instinct. What do you feel you should do?

totallyfloaty35 · 26/09/2008 22:08

serenbach she is 10.Christabel,that happened to me,was just moving dd and she got a straight job, moved her anyway and now she has job with this new agent.Gdluck with your decision

HellFireandDamnation · 26/09/2008 23:43

Most of the agencies, if not all reckon that they get hundreds of applicants a week. Many, you can tell from websites only have up to a couple of hundred of babies on their books so clearly they don?t accept everyone or they don?t get hundreds of applicants a week. Has anyone done any research into finding out if any appear to accept all babies? i.e. a good mix of acceptances and rejections across the board? I?ll start us off! My son has been accepted by:
Elisabeth Smith
BizzyKids
Rascals
Alphabet Kids

Rejected by:
Babyshak (although look at the address of this and BizzyKids!)
Norrie Carr
MOT
Kids London

Waiting to hear:
Bruce and Brown
ScallyWags
Kitsch Kids

Truly Scrumptious got a letter saying £15 for a group appointment where they take shots ? don?t know if this is an acceptance or not? Anyone know??

I would say he?s being rejected by the ones that don?t charge a fee or appear to be the ones most respected but he has been accepted by Elisabeth Smith and we know they don?t take everyone.

Sure many mothers are looking all over boards for info on agencies so hope this might be useful:
As far as I can see all the above get work and are reputable agencies. Add in Urban Angels but they aren?t recruiting at the moment.
Do NOT go with Models Direct. Scam ? been on Watchdog ? everything is about making money you can?t email or phone them properly.

I asked a few places who they use:

Mothercare, Boots, Debenhams, John Lewis, Pampers, Early Learning Centre all use a selection of the above that I applied to. ES, Kids London, MOT Bruce and Brown appear to be the biggies. John Lewis seem to use most of them!

Anyone actually spent time working out if one agency pays more than another? Could be that the agencies that charge more up front actually get more in the longer run and take a smaller commission? Could be helpful in deciding which to choose. Not that money is an issue ? saw one person saying they had 2 ? 3 days a week work!! I?d only want to do a few days a month maximum unless he loved it! But it?s more the principle of the thing ? which agency is trying to rip you off!!

Anyone got any guidance on which I should go with or answer the first question that is hundreds of lines above in this post??!

sobusy · 26/09/2008 23:57

Hi, HellFireandDamnation, sorry can't help but your systematic approach to this is very well thought out. With results you could find out the best agency to go with.

Good luck on your quest. Will be interested to find out how it goes.

liahgen · 27/09/2008 00:01

when i started i applied to and was accepted by

elisabeth smith
bubblegum
scallywags
kids london
bizzykids (babyshak is their baby section)
allsorts

more recently
aj management
young un's

are currently with young un's and kids london

HellFireandDamnation · 27/09/2008 00:27

Thanks - Did you get rejected by any - that's important too if others get accepted to see that they do do rejections - could be because they have similar babies on their books

tinkerbellchelle · 27/09/2008 09:10

Off on holiday 2moro so thought I would just quickly say a big good luck to those with jobs/castings coming up

Catch up with you all soon x

brooke77 · 27/09/2008 10:00

HF&D.. welcome to the forum !
How old is your little ds?
I've heard ES have a good baby section
All the agencies you have applied to are selective (ie dont accept everyone), although some more than others. For most people, if you reply to multiple agencies you usually get some yes and some no's.. no real pattern to working out why tho' !

I think a lot is to do with how much you are prepared to pay out. Most of the agencies take a 25% cut, although SW take more 37.5% for all work other than commercial (i think thats correct). This doesnt have anything to do with their set up / yearly charges.

Yes you will find all the different companies usually use a variety of agencies

Good luck with your choice.

Tinkerbellechelle.. have a lovely hol !!

liahgen · 27/09/2008 10:20

HFD, no we weren't rejected by any of the ones i applied to.

Have great holiday Tink, I am
