Liahgen: so sorry to hear about your ds. But he sound like a brave little soldier!
Steph: well done to your DD getting offered a contract with UAN!! You must be chuffed!!
By the way, I never got asked to send the doctors note and passport pics... Was I supposed to post them??
been away for the weekend and came back home childless DP's parents asked to have ds for the week to give me a rest and for them to be able to enjoy him on their own. Missing him loads especially cause it's the first time I leave him for such a long time( usually just for the nigh)

MelodyDaisy · 16/09/2008 11:37

Hi Luce

Have no previous experience of agencies so not sure what is the norm, but Sarah said on the phone the are the things they will need to apply for liscence, maybe you should check? will let you knoe exactly what they ask for when i get the letter if you want?

Liahgen - your DS's injury sounds awful, hope the surgery went well, how old is he, poor little guy

Steph8880 · 16/09/2008 11:39

Thanks MelodyDaisy, i am so excited for telling DD after school, she has been asking when we will know! she loved the consultation esp the hair lady!

MelodyDaisy · 16/09/2008 11:51

Birth Certificate, School Letter, Doctor's Letter are all documentation that will be needed to get a license and a part 2 which you have to fill in each time. I would keep original's possibly and send a photocopy.

3kids1cat · 16/09/2008 12:21

Luce you might need those things when your ds gets a job, but until then I wouldn't worry. I've got a doctors letter already, but no use for it as none of dd's castings are turning into jobs!

brooke77 · 16/09/2008 12:36

hi luce.. its good to have all those documents in your hand because if your ds gets a job where a license is required it will probably need to be requested immediately and will be no good having to wait for your doctors letter etc

well done to steph's dd !

ichef · 16/09/2008 13:31

Steph - massive well done to your dd

Luce - when we joined UA they requested the documents as well maybe you should ring them and ask?

MelodyDaisy · 16/09/2008 13:35

I would alway's advise sending a copy and keeping original's incase you may get a job where you need to take the copies in quickly, by not sending to agency may make the difference in you getting or not getting a job . Yes you may have to pay for a docs letter, BUT you could also have to wait a few day's to get it and by then it could be too late!

OP posts:
brooke77 · 16/09/2008 13:46

i agree with ichef.. be a good idea to call UA .. not all the agencies keep documents for you, some only request them when the job is confirmed and a license required.. and also a good excuse to keep your ds's name in their minds !

tinkerbellchelle · 16/09/2008 15:42

Steph a massive congrats to your DD Well done

Has anyone else heard anything yet?

Good luck to us all waiting

Does anyone know if we will receive letters or emails if we're rejected?

christabel · 16/09/2008 15:50

Steph - Well done on getting into UAN. We haven't heard yet so thinking the worst - but we will wait and see!! Might give them a call tomorrow if not heard then at least if not accepted can contact different agencies.

Steph8880 · 16/09/2008 15:56

Thanks for the congrats, i'm really looking forward to telling DD!!

When Sarah called this morning she said she still had loads of calls to make, so i am sure you will hear soon.

If you don't hear today, perhaps you could call and say you were expecting to hear by Monday and wondered if you'd missed the call, or you are going away for a few days and didn't want to miss the call?

Sarah was very friendly and chatty when she called, she seems very approachable.

Good luck to those waiting i hope you get yes phone calls soon

tinkerbellchelle · 16/09/2008 16:01

WOOHOO!! Sarah just called, DS has been offered a contract! Really chuffed - he is out with his Daddy at the minute but am excited to tell him even though he is only 3 so will probably look at me wondered whats so great LOL!

I agree with Steph, Sarah seemed really approachable and friendly!

Good luck to anyone else waiting x hope the calls come soon

christabel · 16/09/2008 16:03

Tinkerbellechelle - Well done - waiting for my phone to ring!!!

VaginaShmergina · 16/09/2008 16:08

Hello ladies, you all sound so in the know with all of this business.

I was asked to take my two, when DD was nearly 5 and DS was nearly one to an agency. They wanted money to do their photos and DH put a stop to it !!

However would like to make some enquiries through you all to see what you can recommend/explain. We live in Hampshire and my DC's are now 8 and a half (dd) and DS 4 and a half.

Any advice would be appreciated.

tinkerbellchelle · 16/09/2008 16:11

Christabel - thank you, good luck hun that phone will ring soon x

Steph8880 · 16/09/2008 16:18

Congratulations Tinkerbellechelle

Good luck Christabel and anyone else waiting, sure it wont be long now!!

liahgen · 16/09/2008 16:18

vagina, who was the agency?

most agencies take a fee to register with a few exceptions.

You would always have to pay to get their pics done.

I would never attend one of those open castings in hotels, they are the ones you should steer clear from.

You'll find lots of information on here.

For everyone asking after my little ds, he is feeling much better, took him to show his teacher this afternoon, and i think i'll take him to school tomorrow.

He's aching at the end of the day, but is slowly getting used to carrying his heavy arm.

congrats to all you ua sucessfuls. if you haven't heard.

tinkerbellchelle · 16/09/2008 16:19

liahgen - glad your DS is feeling much better bless him

Luce2006 · 16/09/2008 16:48

Thanks girls! When he got accepted on the letter I got it only said to get a gp note and that was it. It didn't say anything about posting it to them with passport pics I did get one two weeks ago tho si we're prepared in case anything came our way.
Well done to tinker's ds!!
liahgen: good to hear your ds is better

ichef · 16/09/2008 17:00

tinkerbellchelle congrats, very happy for you all.

liahgen - glad ds is better

MelodyDaisy · 16/09/2008 17:35

Congrats gus, great news

Liahgen-Here's hoping he soon get's used to his arm in plaster, can't be very nice. Let's hope it's the type of plaster that you can get all your mates to write their name's on it, will cheer him up no end

Hi! Just got the phone call from Sarah. Both DSs accepted. She didn't say anything about what documentation would be required just that she'd send the paperwork out in the post. Still worrying about approaching the school Don't know what reaction I'm going to get as I've never been involved in anything like this before.

MelodyDaisy · 16/09/2008 18:31

You are best going in and having a chat with them before you start getting calls for jobs. Atleast this way they know what's going on and may be more willing to grant it as you've informed then from day one, but ultimately only you know what is the best way to deal with them

Good Luck with UAN everyone, an exciting time!
