Do u think I'm stuck and have a routine?

So I'm a 31 year old turning 32 in December and I never had a bf still living with parents and I've been working at McDonalds for 11 years I don't have any friends I just work and come home. but i sometimes go shopping by myself after work or with a coworker. on Sundays when i get out of work i go out with my parents. But Monday and Tuesday I go out with my mom & go shopping.

Why u say sad & small little life

the thing is your saying sad and small little life but some people like myself who have young children, lots of social commitments, a demanding never off the clock job and no free time would think this is absolutely heaven. Friends and being sociable is fine if your into it but it's a big commitment tbh having to fit everyone in and make time and like Jesus it's expensive when you celebrate each others milestones. your life sounds quite blissful actually. I wanted to once work in Tesco just because when I'm done I want to clock off go home and not think about work until I am there again. something I could not care less about if I tried.... that's my HONEST opinion

also just to add I think boyfriends are over rated. you might have a wonderful lovely companion but you might have a messy annoying gross one 😂😂

emuloc · Yesterday 22:05

It sounds fine to me, OP. You don't sound stressed, or harried unlike a lot of Women trying to do everything, and running themselves ragged. If you are content, then good for you.

HobgoblinNorFoulFiend · Yesterday 22:13

The reason it matters what you think OP is that you’re only stuck if you want to be somewhere else. If you’re not trying to move (metaphorically), you’re not stuck.

You make it sound as if you’re allocated a boyfriend by pure chance, rather than selecting them by choice!

Yes, you’re stuck.

Why u think that

Because there’s been 0 progression in any area of your life in 11 years. No positive forward movement in any way. Unless you’ve been promoted up the ranks multiple times at work.

To me, that is stuck.

Springtimeinsunshine · Today 00:46

Do you enjoy your job?
Do you like living with your parents?
Do you prefer your own company?
Do you have any hobbies or interests such as reading, hiking, crafting?

Well I do have my own car though

Is this thread likely to change anything for you, OP? Are you considering living differently if enough people here say they think you’re stuck?

Autumnalhibernationisthedream · Today 05:56

I think it does come down to are you happy- So many people think life is a check box of having your own place, working in what’s deemed a certain type of job, having friends and a partner etc etc etc, but then people wonder why they’re not happy in said circumstances and I think it’s because different people need different things/ accept/ live with/ love different things. Similarly look at all the people on here who have relationships and are miserable, you have independence and don’t have to worry about your parents because they’re there (I’m an hour from my mum and I miss her)

I work in a supermarket, there’s plenty of people there who are happy out that they have a job that pays their way, they don’t want the Monday to Friday thing. The first thing the younger people are asked by people is are you going to go to college, how long are you here for? And some of them look embarrassed because they’re thinking but I just got this job!

When I say supermarket or you say McDonalds people automatically make comments or jokes but why? A job is a job is a job- you’ve a safe job that gives you the hours and money every week. There’s graduates and office job people who aren’t earning what you’re earning. I would say make sure you save and look at a pension, but that’s all. Look at if you’re happy, if you’re not make a change, but look at if you are and forget about the societal norms that have led to a lot of miserable people anyway!!!

That you bought? That you pay insurance for? That you maintain and fill with petrol, using money you earn from your job?

Ok?

So what?

Why aren't you bothering to answer questions when people are bothering to take the time to give their thoughts?.

Are you this rude in real life?

I think am I because I’m almost 32 and I never had a bf, still living with my parents & still working at McDonalds for a long time. I just wanna know do u think im stuck?

Why does it matter what we think?

Are you happy?

WhatNoRaisins · Today 07:22

On a practical level I'd be concerned about what will happen when your parents are no longer around and you are even more isolated. I think social skills can be a bit use it or lose it and I'm cynical when people think that they can stop socialising for long periods and just pick it up again when it suits them.

Peclet · Today 07:22

Why won’t you answer any questions?

Do you have a pension? Do you save? What are your hobbies? Do you have any qualifications? Do you have a learning disability?

It is a small life, and I think yes you are stuck. I’d be most worried about the loneliness of it all and how you will outlive your parents - what then?

Do you realise that many people exist who can't "progress" to higher positions or independence? For lots of people, eg. with learning difficulties, just having a job is a huge achievement, especially one they've held for 11 years. Life doesn't have to be exciting; it can just be.

To the OP: being stuck is subjective. If you've chosen this life and don't want it to change, you're not stuck. If you desperately want something different in life, maybe you are stuck. It sounds like you have a lot of stability, which is great.

sendwine76 · Today 07:30

If this was either of my dc I'd be really worried about them

MyGreenShaker · 30/10/2026 21:58

I’m curious to know what you think about my situation though

I think it’s not your situation and it’s a reverse. A sibling possibly?

WhatNoRaisins · Today 07:58

OP is this a reverse where you are hoping to present our replies to someone in your family as a gotcha?

I do realise this yes.

However, the OP asked a question, and I answered :)

Would you honestly say something like that, if she had said that she had learning difficulties, or was learning disabled. I really would hope not.

I think you, or whoever it is, needs to think about what they would like their life to look like in another five or ten years. Early to mid thirties, especially for a women, is a bit of a now or never moment in some ways if they might want to have children for example. I think they need to cultivate a bit more social connection or interests although if they really don't want it then it's a choice but could end up very lonely in middle age.
