Do u think I'm stuck and have a routine?

So I'm a 31 year old turning 32 in December and I never had a bf still living with parents and I've been working at McDonalds for 11 years I don't have any friends I just work and come home. but i sometimes go shopping by myself after work or with a coworker. on Sundays when i get out of work i go out with my parents. But Monday and Tuesday I go out with my mom & go shopping.

Why?

I just wanna hear people’s thought

What difference does it make what a bunch of strangers think if you can’t even say if you are happy/satisfied or not.
It’s not really giving anyone anything to go on?

CoastalCalm · 30/10/2026 22:37

Honestly I think it’s a shame you haven’t got more relationships particularly romantic ones. The job is fine lots of people do similar and are happy enough but I’d worry that your world is very small and one day your parents will be gone. Have your parents encouraged you to build friendships and a social circle ? Do they have friends ?

TheodoreMortlock · 30/10/2026 22:37

FucksakeMulder · 30/10/2026 22:21

Must be horrible for your parents. All they see is their child stalling, never progressing in life. They probably worry about what will happen to you when they die.

That's unnecessarily shitty. "Stalling" for one person is "long term job" for another. There are plenty of parents who would absolutely love their adult child to be doing what OP is doing - 11 years solid at a job, close to her family, friendly enough to go out with coworkers. That's an absolute prayer for some of the families I know, they would think they'd won the lottery if their child did that. Not everyone wants to be prime minister and we need a lot more people working in McDs or Tesco than in Parliament.

mamaof4losingmymind · 30/10/2026 22:38

It depends on your past if you grew up privileged no health issues, good education, no abuse, not in poverty then I would say you are not reaching your full potential. If the things I mentioned have had a big impact on your life then I would say you're doing amazing

Mamabear048 · 30/10/2026 22:40

If your so worried about it move out

JLou08 · 30/10/2026 22:45

There's not enough information to make a judgement. If you're happy with your life that's great. If not I think you should look for some social groups.
I wouldn't normally throw out a thought like this but you seem keen to know what people really think. I wondered if you're autistic or have learning difficulties. I work with people with autism and Learning Disability, the life you're living is something that many of them would (and should) be very proud of.

AnneLovesGilbert · 30/10/2026 22:49

Stop repeating the same questions and answer some of the many you’ve had. You’ll know very well that it’s quite unusual so either you’re happy and content or you’re wondering if there’s more out there to see and do and learn and experience.

There definitely is.

Have you been on holidays here or abroad? Did you have friends at school? Have you ever enjoyed studying? Do you want to meet a partner? What does life look when your mum and aren’t around forever?

Booboobagins · 30/10/2026 22:49

Why are you seeking others opinions @MyGreenShaker, the most important opinion is yours.

If you're asking would I feel content? Possibly, it's an easy life, but at some point I'd feel I'm missing out and want to change things.

If you're feeling unfulfilled, I would start by finding a friends coffee group for my age group - fb is a great start. Don't pay to join. Try it out. I made loads of friends that way.

It must be hard for children whose parents have heavy expectations of them instead of feeling proud of what they have achieved.

I’m not sure I just wanna know what you think

It doesn't matter what we think.

It matters if you are happy, and if you and your parents are happy with the living situation..

MissingMeadow · 30/10/2026 22:51

Why don't you have any friends?

Surely you must be friends with coworkers?

It sounds really boring to me.

somanychristmaslights · 30/10/2026 22:51

You asked peoples opinions on your life.

I wouldn’t be content. I’d hate to work at McDonald’s for 11 years and would want more enjoyment and a c challenge. I’d want to have my own space and not be living with my parents. I’d want friends I could do things with and have a partner to share things with.

Thisusernameisalwaysavailable · 30/10/2026 22:52

MyGreenShaker · 30/10/2026 22:33

I just wanna hear people’s thought

F we said "oh what a fabulous life" or "what a loser" or "sounds like a simple life" etc...
.. what are you going to with that opinion?

Are you looking for approval? For a way to change?

WearyAuldWumman · 30/10/2026 22:53

If you're the poster who has posted various threads about your personal life before, @MyGreenShaker , I think you're in the habit of posting several similar threads where you just ask "What do you think of that?"

Your life sounds fine to me, but if you want to change things up you might consider going to a hobby type night school class where you can meet new people.

OneNewEagle · 30/10/2026 22:55

I just wanna hear people’s thought

If you enjoy work, you socialise and you have a good relationship with your parents then it sounds good. It depends on whether you are happy though.

focusingloudly · 30/10/2026 22:56

I think this is probably a wind up.

Chocolatestripes · 30/10/2026 23:01

With respect op, if this thread is genuine, and you really want to know people’s thoughts, then you need to give us more details and more context;

~what is your level of education?
~do you enjoy living with your parents?
~ do you enjoy your job?
~do you want to have more friends?
~would you like a hobby other than shopping?
~ do you want a relationship?
-what are your hopes and ambitions for the future?
~are you autistic?

I hope you don’t mind me asking the last question op but I have a dd with ASD, and the reason I ask is that your weekly routine does seem quite rigid and defined for someone in the prime of their life, and your life seems quite narrow, socially, and in terms of your interests and “living inside a comfort zone”?

Glowingup · 31/10/2026 07:58

So you want people to tell you how shit your life is so you can come back with dumb responses like “why do you say that?”.

Your life is only shit if you think it is. If you’re happy, crack on.

ProtestantTraybakeQueen · 31/10/2026 08:01

MyGreenShaker · 30/10/2026 21:58

I’m curious to know what you think about my situation though

The point is though, that other people’s opinions on your life should be irrelevant. You need to get that that headspace to find satisfaction and happiness IMO!

Your life wouldn’t be for me, but that’s irrelevant. I’m sure my life wouldn’t be for you, or you’d be doing it.

Sillysausage76 · 31/10/2026 08:06

Everyone lives are different, my friends sibling is late 40, and still lives at home, no friends or social life. He does have a carer though and has recently said hes A-Sexual. I honestly believe he's happy. He could afford his own house but doesn't seem worried about moving out. He does his own laundry and often cooks.
I do believe your situation is unusual and so must you if your asking. If your happy then don't worry, if you do want to change things do it slowly, and build from their

Do you think you're stuck and doing nothing?

It's only matters what YOU think and if you are happy.

Mosaic80 · Yesterday 10:51

I think you should do exactly what you want to do with your life. Do you ever go on holiday? I assume you’re not super happy with it otherwise you wouldn’t post here.

it wouldn’t be what I’d want in my early 30s as I knew I wanted DC and a relationship and I also like to have holidays and experiences even just going for dinner, to the cinema etc. BUT you’re not me and don’t have to want the same. Maybe you don’t want DC or an relationship and that’s totally reasonable and ok!

Id just have a serious think about what you DO want. Not whether you can have it but what your absolute ideal in life would be. Then take little tiny steps towards it eg you’d like more friends so join a book club or walking group or rock climbing or something. If you’d like to see more places start with a free museum or art gallery. Just start small and see what is or isn’t your thing. You don’t have to stay long or stick with something, just give it a go.

Only you can answer that OP. Everyone has a different life. If you feel completely fulfilled with your life, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. If you think that you’d like more out of life, then you need to change what you do.

Have a think about what you’d like to do. Would you like to travel? Would you like to get married? Have children? Do you enjoy your job? Would you like to go to college? Learn to drive? Join a walking group? Go to a pub quiz? Eat in a fancy restaurant? Go to the theatre? Take a city break? Lie on a beach?

There are lots of things to do, but if you don’t want to do them, that’s ok. If you’re happy with what you do, that’s ok. If you’re not happy, then you can change it. It’s totally up to you.
