Do u think I'm stuck and have a routine?

So I'm a 31 year old turning 32 in December and I never had a bf still living with parents and I've been working at McDonalds for 11 years I don't have any friends I just work and come home. but i sometimes go shopping by myself after work or with a coworker. on Sundays when i get out of work i go out with my parents. But Monday and Tuesday I go out with my mom & go shopping.

Are you happy?

TheresDirtInTheYurt · 30/10/2026 21:37

I mean, it's a lot of shopping! But as @Takenhome suggests, the more important question is what YOU think about your situation.

Our neighbours son is 36. Has never worked. Lives at home and has no social life. He seems happy though.
Do you wish things were different @MyGreenShaker ?

mondaytosunday · 30/10/2026 21:42

I think you need to change things up. What position do you hold at McD? Are you in a management position? Can you get another job? Do you have any interests that you can explore by taking a course? Get a qualification in? Do you have savings to move out?

Keepgettingolder81 · 30/10/2026 21:45

It all comes down to if you are happy or not? If you are then it doesn’t matter other people think. X.

thisismeithinkorisit · 30/10/2026 21:47

I mean compared to most people's lives, yes. your life seems very young. working in Maccies, living at home, no social life or love life, main hobby is shopping.

I suppose the one in is what happens eventually when your parents die? you will presumably inherit their house or you'll need to move out and rent somewhere. can you do that on your wages? do you save or does it all go on shopping? you will have support network or friends around you.

you don't have to meet a man or get married or have kids if you don't want to, but do you not want friends? independence?

BarbaraUsher · 30/10/2026 21:48

Have you been able to save money ?
Do you have a pension?
Career ambitions?
Do you want a relationship?
Is there a hobby you like or want to try?

Bellyblueboy · 30/10/2026 21:48

It sounds like you are stuck, because that’s the word you use.

do you enjoy your job? Do you want to make friends?

Takenhome · 30/10/2026 21:51

If you're happy then it sounds like a great life. Yes, you have a routine but most people do. You have a good job, family, you do stuff you enjoy. If you aren't happy then try and get some of the people around you to support you in making changes and ask for advice here on how to if you need it.

If you want to know whether other posters would enjoy your situation I suspect many would find it a bit humdrum. Nothing wrong with that though.

HeddaGarbled · 30/10/2026 22:02

Job’s good, relationship with parents and colleague good. Some friends to do some other stuff with would add something to your life. I’d investigate joining a couple of social groups (exercise, crafting, book group, volunteering, whatever takes your fancy).

GalaDinner · 30/10/2026 22:05

Do you manage to save something every month? That would be helpful to you in the future when you have a problem, or a goal you want to achieve.

Bellyblueboy · 30/10/2026 22:06

Are you asking would people be satisfied with your life.

okay, I think it sounds a bit boring. There isn’t much variety. The job wouldn’t offer any variety and you life outside work is limited to interacting with your parents.

But, we are all different and it might be perfect for you.

in your shoes, I would look into changing jobs, maybe do some training at night school. You are still young and a change of job would introduce new people and opportunities.

Bunnychubbers · 30/10/2026 22:07

Other posters are absolutely right when they say the main concern is whether you’re happy. But you asked for opinions and in my opinion this sounds like a very sad and small little life.

Why u say sad & small little life

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 30/10/2026 22:15

Why do you care what other people think? Why don't you know what you think yourself?

It's hard to ask those questions without sounding sarcastic, but they are genuine. And could be the key to finding your answer.

It doesn’t sound as if you have any fun. You seem to have no relationships other than with your parents, you don’t have any passions that you pursue, or independence. If it suits you, then that’s obviously fine, but I’m assuming you wouldn’t be asking strangers on the internet if it did.

EmpressaurusKitty · 30/10/2026 22:18

It’s all relative. Everyone has a different idea of what a good life is. I wouldn’t enjoy yours because I like living alone with my cat & I don’t eat meat so wouldn’t like working at McDonalds, but you might well not like mine.

Have you posted before under a different name? You sound familiar.

FucksakeMulder · 30/10/2026 22:21

Must be horrible for your parents. All they see is their child stalling, never progressing in life. They probably worry about what will happen to you when they die.

Overthebow · 30/10/2026 22:24

It wouldn’t be for me, but if you’re happy with your life it’s fine.

Dassssy · 30/10/2026 22:28

This is another weird thread.
