Evening all. Tonight has been cooking and baking and chasing Spot with her shrew (DH managed to get a tub over it and I released it into the outside woodpile. She's curled up next to DH now, so clearly no hard feelings!

It's rained most of the day, but only about 5mm.

The hayloft has been calling for a while, will turn the hob off (stewing up pears before they mulch themselves to rotten slime) and head for bed.

Doesn’t appear to be raining right now so that’s a plus. Dentist or hygienist after work and then lovely book club this evening .

Spot is currently trying to curry favour with me after doing my head in last night (out the window, in the cat flap, repeat ad nauseum).

Chonk is definitely not right and is booked in for surgery on Tuesday - suspected hernia casing breathing issues. He perked up after coming back from the vets yesterday and has finally eaten and drunk well. He was almost normal first thing this morning, but since breakfast his breathing has gone heavy again and he can't seem to get properly comfy. He has been quite cuddly which is very sweet.

Tiiiirrred, although part of that is due to sitting in silence, reading at book club. But also work where it was weirdly cold, not just me either, several people commented on it. Brrr.

Poor Chonk 😔. Good that he perked up a bit and ate and drank but poor hurting cat (hurrah for the cuddles though).

It’s a shame the aliens didn’t feel summoned by the Horn of Gondor to assist. I was rewatching LOTR the other week, muttering it’s about time Gandalf and Aragorn and the gang turn up to help fight the baddies.

Evening all. The kittens are little terrors. I was late home this evening, and came back to tales of Slinky being chased out of the house repeatedly with a mouse. Then went into the kitchen to find it was a shrew and she'd deposited it in a mostly empty food bowl - vaguely appropriate. IdiotKitty also launched at me outside and drew blood with over-enthusiastic playing.

Poor Chonk. I hope the operation sorts him out and he recovers quickly.

Hope that Apricot is home safe and the admin isn't the tedious type.

Hurrah for non-hurty shoulder LetUs - my physio appointment saw me leave with new exercises to try for another 6-8 weeks... It's very tedious, and I think I deserve a hot chocolate. (I'm also being shockingly unproductive with work today. Dooom.)

Afternoon. We came back last night, non-eventful journey, but it's so cold in the house, so it's not just you LetUs. I think we got so used to the heat that normal temperatures now feel cold. I won't put the heating on yet, but I'm taking a fan heater round with me.

Today has been catching up on admin matters, and back to passwords, verification numbers, robots asking me to confirm I'm not a robot and grids of traffic lights etc. So yes, very tedious Helen. Argh!

Sorry to hear about Chonk Fancy, that is worrying. Hope he's alright.

Not hurting as much shoulder lasted about an hour, but I was grateful for that hour.

I’ve put a jumper on when I’ve got home, and am enjoying the benefit of being in the same room as the heated clothes dryer.

We have rain again but it’s Friday so yeah for that. Road into work town is still closed, but just for extra fun there’s roadworks been started in other places too. I realise obviously planned roadworks which can’t just not be done etc, but it’s still frustrating. Never mind, plenty to listen to.

Afternoon. Nice day so I did a load of washing from the caravan. It's gone a bit dull now so I've fetched it in just in case. DH is up a ladder again. Apparently the painting he did on the house last year hasn't lasted because he did it in the sun, so it's had to be done again.

Excellent with the megasudokus Helen, I'll have to have a look for those.

I think that MrA just likes climbing ladders, and has got to the point where he just makes up excuses.

I slept in a bit this morning, which meant it was all headless chickening (not literally) to be logged in at work on time. And then it was a day of spreadsheet hell - reconciliations, deep dives into data, etc etc. I'm tiiiiiiiiiired.

The manshapes are out, I've just done a re-heat tea, and I'm going to slump on the sofa eating and chilling out. Until one of the idiots comes in with a furry squeaky thing. <side-eyes at Spot who has disrupted work with her efforts today. Alas poor shrew>

FFS at roadworks, but at least it's the weekend for a couple of days.

I swear you're my roadworks twin letus, loads here too, not too many on my routes luckily, but a lot of extra traffic this week because of closed roads nearby.

I think your right about having acclimatised the the heat apricot, it feels odd to be chilly now it's so long since I felt like that.

Have some work to catch up on today, after losing time in the week for Chonk's vet visits. He is looking a bit better now - eating well so that is a relief - and being quite cuddly at times.

Morning all, just about. I had a lie-in (after the usual livestock wrangling) which involved Spot batting at my nose while I lay in bed, and IdiotKitty squawking. But still, a lie-in with extra sleep. And now I've just spent the rest of the morning doing sudoku and mooching online. I feel I should be doing something. Eating would be a good start.

Had a mostly relaxing day. Finished a blanket, BestFriend loved the little dragon.

Everyone needs a little dragon in their lives.

I ended up stewing up a batch of windfalls, and have been on the stepper, so hurrah. There was also slight flailing around midday when DS discovered that he'd accidentally stood up his GF - she though they were meeting up, and he didn't think they were. Not that she bothered to actually phone to see where he was. He was mortified anyway, and all was well.

I've also finally finished Normal Women at last. DH has stuck the Proms on tv.

Forecast for today was dry all day - no chance of rain. Went to put the washing out at 7. Raining, and it’s still raining. Ah well.

Morning all. Dry here so far, and we have domestic chore plans, which will be a bit tedious but then we'll be relieved that they're done. Though I think one involving changing the chicken's laying area will be far more work than hoped, and involve, 'oh, so we just need to do this and fix this and change that, and move this...' and then it will work. This thing was also my idea, so I'm in no position to whinge!
