Rosa I love reading your posts when you talk about Venice- "over the lagoon" and the like, it sounds so idyllic. Am sure it's different when you live there but from the centre of traffic blocked Rome it sounds wonderful! So does living in the woods up a mountain Sputnik.
Went to beach yesterday, ds in element putting sand in a bucket and out again for hours! Wasnt sure re sea and when took him in the kiddie pool got a bit flappy! Used to take him swimming loads and he loved it so don't know whats changed, suppose he's at the age when fears start developing. I wish he'd develop a fear of standing on the arm of the sofa!!!!!!!!!!dp returned early cos of the match, we took the trenino back and called a cab from the station when it arrived some gitty man pushed in front, said he had booked that one, I argued that it was my booking and he flashed some official card and said he was police on urgent business!!!!!!!!!!! Ended up with me screeching like fishwife that urgent business was obviously the bloody match and he was pushing in front of a child for that. Made no difference.

Gio, che pezzo di merda! . The other day I (and another few women walking their dogs) shouted at two bastards speeding on a porshe carrera in the piazza behind my house. One of them got off after two rounds and despite us shouting and telling him we took the plate number ha fatto spallucce. Che gente di merda .

Sounds like you had a lovely day though . Yes at your ds's age they develop weird paure, don't they? My dd hated walking on the sand for the first 2 days when we took her on holiday at 14 months...

Sputnik, I'll go and check the link.

Brangelina · 23/06/2008 13:39

Blimey it's hot! Oh well, at least my washing will dry at last...

Have a good time Rosa, San Candido is lovely, I've never spent summer there but I expect it will be divine, away from the smog and heat. Why can't nonna bring her own sponge????

Toscana was gorgeous, we had fun and DD had a brilliant time with her little friend. Unfortunately she also got used to going to bed very late after our evening passeggiate lungomare and would not go down last night when we got back. I got my feet burnt from going out in a kayak and have noticed from the photos that my belly is huge (despite my attempts at holding it in) and Must Be Dealt With.

Rosa · 23/06/2008 13:45

Oh welcome back - glad you had a good time burnt feet and all!! Don't you dare do any washing for a week please - mind you thunderstorms are forecast towards friday all over the north. As for the tummy pilates but if I recall you are more a kick boxing active get fit person.
Sure your dd will get back into her routine soon... Mine is ko napping the heat is just as bad for her I must do the fatture before I go or dh will not get paid and I will get told off !

francagoestohollywood · 23/06/2008 13:49

Oh dear, rosa... sorry though, I lolled at the spugnetta bit! Run away from nonna, go for nice passeggiate and breathe the fresh air (and eat lots of strudel).

Brangelina you are back! Glad you had a fab time in tuscany, june is def the best month to go away. I'm worried abut my belly too... I think I'll start running in sept. The other day my dad told me "my tummy is big"

Brangelina · 23/06/2008 14:00

Too late Rosa, I've done 2 lots this morning already and the 3rd is in the machine. What bliss after the last muffga-infested weeks.

Am not sure about Pilates tummy exercises, at kickboxing we do 600 addominali (really horrible difficult ones) at each session yet I still have this double rubber ring about my midriff. I should go back to running too, running gets rid of everything, only the last time I did any more or less intensively it got rid of my boobs too, to the extent I had a couple of saggy teabags.

I think I should just curb my chocoalte and ice cream consumption. Let's face it, those extra 500 cals a day bfeeding days are well over now, so I should stop kidding myself I still need them.

Brangelina · 23/06/2008 14:04

Lol at your Dad Franca, at least it wasn't your DH. Mine keeps making comments about my belly, not that he's perfect in that department himself. When we first got together he had boobs!

Brangelina · 23/06/2008 14:05

muffa

francagoestohollywood · 23/06/2008 14:08

Yes, I should cut the carbs and to aerobica 3 times a week. But who am I kidding? I don't really care, I can't survive without focaccia...

Sputnik · 23/06/2008 14:36

Rosa good to hear you are escaping somewhere nice, have a good time.

Gio, it's lovely living where I do but DH has a huge comute every day and we keep talking about moving into Rome, which I really don't want to do. My DD refused to go in the sea at 2 years, having gone in quite happily the year before. Then last year she went in a bit. Still haven't gone to the beach this year.

When I do I will have serious tummy issues like you Brange, and no longer able to say, "Look, I have a newborn!". Can we get group rates on Malaysian tummy massage or maybe liposuction? I have done a load of abs exercises and it hasn't helped much. Anyway, glad you had a good time.

Brangelina · 23/06/2008 15:05

I think the Malaysian tummy massage sounds like more fun. On the Singapore thread there's a phone number, I wonder how much it would cost to fly someone over from Singapore, pay for hotels and train fares to all our respective abodes?

DD used to love the sea too. She went running in on the first day, tripped over and got a mouthful of water and after that created every time we tried to get her near the water's edge. She'd quite happily jump the waves further in, but only if carried past the dreaded water's edge and holding her little friend's hand.

Similarly, she used to love coming in the big pool with us, until she decided to jump in by herself one day and had to be fished out. Now she won't go anywhere near it.

Sputnik · 23/06/2008 15:19

Hmm, what we need to do is hire a large agriturismo somewhere, advertise a tummy restoring weekend in a few mother and baby mags, bring her over here and rake in the cash!

Rosa · 23/06/2008 15:34

well if its before NOv I will come and watch and eat the chocolate for you ....Am now packing ...Dh is washing up and making comments about his mother and sponges and phrases that have madonna in them ... I am hoping that dh and I might have at least a coffee or hot chocolate ( sorry) alone ..but if not never mind as long as dd is happy .Now do I pack the anti MIL pills ????

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 23/06/2008 15:34

Sputnik you have entrepreneurial qualities

francagoestohollywood · 23/06/2008 15:35

lol rosa

Brangelina · 23/06/2008 15:53

You know Sputnik, that's not a bad idea......

An agriturismo with a pool or near a beach, babysitting/creche services and lots of trashy novels. This could really take off, we could go international and really rake in the dough.

Brangelina · 23/06/2008 15:56

Do you think we should do it in Umbria? Cheaper than Toscana plus maybe Pippi has a mate with an empty agriturismo just waiting to be rented out at a reasonable rate.

Sputnik · 23/06/2008 16:10

Rosa IKWYM as we have had our last 3 holidays with the MIL, though the last 2 there were other people too. But it made her and DD happy, and there were occasional moments she looked after DD, so it's not too bad.

If we were sure the tummy restoring massage actually worked it would be great, I for one would be happy to pay! SIL and BIL are doing up a big Tuscan farmhouse which would be perfect, but I think it'll be a couple more years before it's ready, shame.

Sputnik · 23/06/2008 16:11

Ok Brange, now all we need is an EU grant to fund our trip to Singapore to see if this really works

francagoestohollywood · 23/06/2008 16:16

lol!

Brangelina · 23/06/2008 16:18

Ah yes, a "fact finding" mission. I'm sure we could even get a local govt. grant or something. Will have to look into it.

I now have to brave the heat and pick up DD. Myabe I'll come up with some further inspiration whilst puffing on my bicycle.
