3, a teacher when I was at school, one girl in my year and it’s one of my friends maiden surnames but definitely no relation. However me and the girl in my year looked very similar and people always thought we were related.

None. My maiden name is fairly rare but my married name is extremely rare. Afaik (from Googling) I am the only person with my first and surname in the world.

Am I the only woman on this thread who retained their family name upon marriage?!!!

Floralnomad · 02/03/2025 20:36

Dozens but I’m an ex nurse with a very common surname , only met a couple with my maiden name .

Msmoonpie · 02/03/2025 20:39

If I met someone with my unusual in the UK surname I would assume they were a distance relative as my last name is not British nor common elsewhere.

No one with the same surname, ever.
A few with the same first name.

There is another woman who lives locally who has the same first and (married) surname as me. A salesman in a carpet shop years ago also had the exact same first and surname as my DH. We have a fairly common surname though and both have fairly common first names for our generation.

Tinatubby73 · 13/07/2025 22:04

None.birth name or married name

Shubbypubby · 26/07/2025 13:51

No one. My surname is foreign. Fairly common in its country of origin but not in the U.K.

ARichtGoodDram · 26/07/2025 13:59

With my maiden name none. It was previously two, but after doing my family tree we are indeed related (as we expected as it's v uncommon)

With my married name loads. It's of the Smith/Jones/Taylor ilk.
