Not working
Being rich
Extra-marital affairs

please add to the list of things that, if mentioned in passing, are guaranteed to derail a thread.

Fairy/Christmas lights that are any colour other than soft white.

feellikeanalien · 29/01/2025 16:21

Having to answer the phone.

Having even the smallest pleasures in life if you are on benefits.

OP describes a situation or person who ticks almost all the boxes for neurodivergence. However the MN neurodivergence police will absolutely forbid anyone to suggest that the person in question could be ND in any way as it triggers some bizarre nerve of their own self identity. Especially if the person in question is a man, he has to be a 100% asshole garbage human being and you are never, ever allowed to suggest undiagnosed ND being a reason for male behaviour.

Oh god yes this someone will describe a man with almost every sign of autism and it will be a rush to call him a "sad loser" instead of acknowledging the obvious ASD.

Contrast that to threads where someone's DC doesn't like eating strawberries and it's a rush to suggest ASD.

Confusedandhormonal · 29/01/2025 16:25

Debt. Sexless marriage

Wonderfulstuff · 29/01/2025 16:25

Starting a thread on a topic that already has a thread on it or has been discussed several times before. Because all Mumsnetters are meant to be aware of all the threads that currently exist and have previously existed.

Gawd couldn't you have done a quick Google search before you posted this there was a thread on it in 2005 already. What do you mean that was twenty years ago and you want more up to date advice? The gall.

Difference of opinion from the vipers nest.

Huckinfell · 29/01/2025 16:34

Not being completely financially dependent of your DH/DP. You must be solely able to finance yourself and your kids.

Not having your 'ducks in a row' at all times.

Having any kind of anxiety around anything (unless you post on one of the mental health boards, they are much more accepting there).

Wheresthebeach · 29/01/2025 16:35

Stepmothers not wanting to pay for stepchildren
Stepmothers having an opinion on behaviour in their own home

randomfemthinker · 29/01/2025 16:46

also - reviving old threads
posting on a thread that hasn't been active for over a month
or the absolute #1 horror - reviving ZOMBIE threads

ParrotsAteThemAll · 29/01/2025 16:52

Other people’s poor mental health, you must always go no contact according to MN.

Large portions

MissConductUS · 29/01/2025 16:56

Being an American. It means being heckled about every aspect of your country to make sure you understand your place.
