i think you know they are crap if you don't suffer, with the nhs one i skipped out happily out of her office thinking "good i have left all my problems in the office", instead i hadnt even touched the surface. i think it is about becoming aware, giving you the tools not to repeat stupid patters caused by things in the past. from what i understand it takes 2 to 3 years to see the benefit. horribly expensive.

Brangelina · 15/04/2008 22:10

Yes, I understand the feeling. I feel I need some fulfilment in my life too and I'm no longer getting any satisfaction from my job as my priorities have shifted. I sure I should just throw myself into something but can't be bothered as I don't seem to have the energy anymore.

hotHELL · 15/04/2008 22:11

lol at the pointy nose.

Brangelina · 15/04/2008 22:13

Lol, he looks like my old neighbour who was (I think) a plumber! He even has the same jacket.

Brangelina · 15/04/2008 22:14

Off to bed for me too, once I finish this appraisal form which is what I should have been doing instead of coming on here.

francagoestohollywood · 15/04/2008 22:15

morning ladies.
DS has suspected scarlettina (sp?) so off to queue for no doubt hours for him to have a tampone to check. Bless him he is feeling very sorry for himself. I have looked on internet and cant work out if this is scarlet fever or something else milder? Any ideas?

Rosa · 17/04/2008 08:37

Oh Gio poor think yes I think it is scarlet fever will your paed not do a tampone for you? In Vce if you have a little one you can passo in avanti at the analasi section. I hope it is mild and he gets better soon . SIL thought son had la 5a malatia but he only had 1 day of spots and on arms not face so maybe it wasn't.
Very brave at you all going to see someone I hope it all helps . I don't think I could to be honest I am a bit of a keep it to me person at times.
Brang so the mystery thinckens you must work for somebody foreign as idont think Italy has heard of appraisals ( Core Objectives, Key Objectives, Personal Skills, Company Objectives,Achievement, drive, willing , keen, enthusiastic need i go on). I found that I was filling in more paperwork that nobody ever read then actual customer work . On my appraisal once ( signed by my boss and boss above ) I wrote in the middle the No12 bus will stop at the shops...I got it back signed as good to excelling !!!!!!!!
IMO if you are not satisfied find something else or as for a change in job spec to make it more challenging.
Nice day here going to finish the Shepherds pie ( cold yesterday but today it looks more like it should be caprese and pros melone !!)
Anything from Pippi yet ??????

francagoestohollywood · 17/04/2008 09:04

Oh Gio, your poor ds! I hope he recovers quickly, they give ABs for scarlet fiver, don't they? don't know, really.

The weather is miserable in Milan, cold and grey. Makes me feel sleepy and in general in a bad mood. I should work/clean the house/cook and all I want to do is sulking in bed. gnjkfgngdfzngf.

we have the graudatorie provvisorie: dd has a place at our first choice

OP posts:
gio71 · 17/04/2008 11:04

fantastic Franca
Well we have just been to Bambino Jesu hospital (nice having that as our local clinic), had tampone done, was told it was useless doing it as already atarted AB's so would be negative anyway so waste of time. Begs question why doctor didnt say yesterday but hey - oh well. Ds being v sweet and cuddly one minute then running around like a nutter the next then being very moany and complaining the next. Fun!

francagoestohollywood · 17/04/2008 11:26

typical isn't it? did they tell you to take ABs yourself? I seem to remember that in the past they would treat the whole family when there was a case of scarlet fever. But things change.
I hope he will feel better soon. Small children are very hard work when they are ill. I remember when ds got his very first serious flu, he was 16 months and so miserable. And I was 2 months pg. It wasn't fun

OP posts:
Rosa · 17/04/2008 11:27

Franca that is GREAT am so pleased for you see all those positive vibes did work.
Gio hope there are more cuddly moments than sad sore moany ones..May the ABs work soon !
Just had another mum saying I was daft sending dd to a nido at 2.5 instead straight into asilio. This nido is the one that is 18mths - 3 yrs that we have been on the waiting list for.Am I mad not wanting to send my 2.5yr old to asilio where classes are 25 kids with a teacher and a suore ??? Ok so they might do more advanced things and maybe a bit more exciting but my theory is she goes to play , learns to interact with children and 1 teacher to 7 is better then at 3.5 she moves to asilio. I know I have harped on at this before but it really got to me ..AM I doing teh right thing even though it is different than other mums do ?????

francagoestohollywood · 17/04/2008 11:35

Rosa: for what is worth I think you are doing the right thing. 2.5 is very little and still needs the fluffy environment of a nido. They need cuddles and quiet time for a nap (which is done also in a scuola materna obviously, with more children I guess though). And they do lots of stuff in the nido. And obviously you are the one who knows your dd the best. I can see that there are children who are ready for a scuola materna at 2.5, but most of them are just not, even those used to be in childcare.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for the asilo, you never know .... . Plus I'll be very sad to leave their current asilo, which true, it's costing us lots of money, but they are so happy there. Ds though has started to ask lots of question about prmary school he'll start in September. I think he is eager to go. Poor things, they have been very brave, with all these changes.

gio71 · 17/04/2008 12:00

agree with Franca, stick with what you are doing Rosa. Don't understand the need to throw kids into school environment the second they can (if its not neccessary due to work, places avail etc). Love the way other Mum's feel completely comfortable with pushing their unasked for opinion on you like that! If your dd can be eased into school life with a nice, fluffy, less crowded environment surely that is a good thing??
Didnt say to us re taking AB's Franca. Fingers crossed we wont get it but don't think chances of not are that high. Bloody fil been on phone harping on about chances of it attacking him, he's old, not well, much worse in elderly people blah blah. That's right, put your grandson first won't you

francagoestohollywood · 17/04/2008 12:34

and at your fil. People tend to become so obsessed with their own health when they age that they forget everything else.

I think many people are keen to send their dc to scuola materna earlier, at 2.5, because it is considerably cheaper than the nido, so I suppose it can make a big financial difference for a good number of families. The possibility of anticipate scuola materna to 2.5yr old was given by Letizia Moratti when she was a ministro. Funnily enough it won't be possible to do so in Milan next year (or so I've read a few days ago) because Ministro Fioroni refused to give money to asili milanesi when the children of emigrati clandestini were refused a place by the Milanese Giunta comunale

francagoestohollywood · 17/04/2008 12:35

How is ds btw? has he still got a temperature? I don't have a clue re scarlet fever.

OP posts:
Rosa · 17/04/2008 13:11

Thanks guys I feel better now. This nido is supplemented abit by the commune but not much we will pay more pm for dd than sil does for her 2 at a Asilio run by the suore ! There are only 24 children there max at any one time.
I would not get aplace at a nido communale not enough punti and luckily don't need one as SAHM .
WOnder how Brangelina is getting on with dodgy Bulgarian airlines!!!
at your FIL Gio does he have a carer or people he sees daily as it sounds to me that he has nothing to worry about but himself? I remember when you were going to move but it had to be near FIL.

francagoestohollywood · 17/04/2008 14:02

I can't remember when she's due back. Possibly today.

I'm here dipping torcetti al burro into a freshly made mug of coffee... bliss!

Can't remember why your sil is sending her dc to the asilo di suore rosa. Is that because there are not enough scuole materne comunali in venice?

gio71 · 17/04/2008 14:35

hotHELL · 17/04/2008 14:56

scarlet fever not that uncommon, friend of ds had it...hope he improves soon...freezing here, AGAIN!!

francagoestohollywood · 17/04/2008 16:04

no, no, not uncommon at all. close friends' ds had it 2 yrs ago. You'll be happy to know gio that it didn't spread to anyone else in the family, gio .

Yes, really freezing here as well... the dc are having their english hour at the moment...
