Have a good day tutti...

francagoestohollywood · 02/04/2008 09:23

It has sort of set .... it could be a bit more gelatinosa, maybe.... should I put it in the freezer for a while? why, oh why don't I stick to what I know I can do? (very little I must say...)

Is it raining there rosa? very cloudy here. have already been to esselunga and do the shopping, but now I need to relax in front of mn for a while...

hotHELL · 02/04/2008 12:31

ohhh, franca, you are so brave, to try new things on guests...
will definetely try your escalope recipe rosa, sounds delicious.
i think the dark stains i have on face and body are just from too much sunbathing in my youth, didn;t sunbathe though when pregnant, will investigate the antiwrinkle one though!
dreary day here in london, drizzle, drizzle.

Rosa · 02/04/2008 13:22

The only thing you could try and do is do some more colla di pesce and try and like melt it all down again and incorperate more. It could just be worse though .
If you find that when you roll up the escalopes that they are a bit thick just put in a coctail stick just to hold them in but for heavens sake remeber to remove it before you serve them !!! They are honestly so easy and so good . My friend does hers in stratti inside and she slices them up on the plate so you have a pretty filling !
It has not rained here yet but the cloud has thickened and it could be bringing a bit of rain in hope not !

francagoestohollywood · 02/04/2008 13:44

no, I'm not brave just plain stupid

have made a "vellutata di piselli". bah. what can I say, I might make aglio olio e peperoncino in desperation

hello girls. how are you all? I'm still here. have not forgotten you. house not ready so at in laws without internet.
sorry no time to read all posts. had a show last night and lost some fluid, thought the water had broken. went to hospital - not sure whether they are broken or not so went home. took dd to play. now here waiting.
I always thought she was going to be born on the 3rd... but a show does not mean much apparently. any tips?

house hopefully ready in two weeks, due date in two weeks too. who knows.

francagoestohollywood · 02/04/2008 16:08

Pippi!!!! We've been wondering about you and I couldn't find your mobile number...
well a show can mean tutto e niente... but certainly things are moving, aren't they? Oh how exciting!
Here, lots of vibes for a reasonably quick and easy labour! All the best my darling, let us know whenever you can

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 02/04/2008 16:17

franca!!!!

this tutto e niente is really annoying isn't it?

I've been looking for your number too, but cannot access the email address. can you send it to my hotmail one please so that I can text you and you can relate any developments?

how are ya? how's life in italy?

francagoestohollywood · 02/04/2008 17:16

pippi have sent you email with my italian mobile number.

well, I had a show with ds and went into labour after 1 week.... BUT I had a show because in Italy they have this barbaric thing of sweeping your membranes before due date, so it might have been that baby wasn't ready to be born. Therefore, you might have your first contraction sooner than you expect . or maybe not! Oh, I'm really excited for you!!! Keep in touch if you manage, and all the very best for an "enjoyable" (you know what I mean ) labour...
how's your dd doing? how is she coping with this moving houses etc?

Life in Italy is quite enjoyable at the moment. At least until the elections , I tend to get depressed if I thnk about our political, economic, social situation... but so far it's been good for us. I'm waiting for the honey moon period to fade away ...

Rosa · 02/04/2008 18:29

Hurrah Pippi so glad you have popped in I was sure you were due Apr 24th - But keeping everything crossed that it all goes quicky , smoothly and as pain free as possible. Keep in touch via text so we can be kept updated. Positive vibes that the house will be finished in 2 weeks.

hotHELL · 03/04/2008 09:37

i have mentioned this on another thread, do you think there is anything wrong about eating 4 or 5 dried apricots during pregnancy - dp wondered if the amount of vitamin a was too much and might harm baby. lovely spring day here today, meant to become foul again at the weekend...

francagoestohollywood · 03/04/2008 09:48

Gosh I don't have a clue hothell, I'm afraid, you need Brangelina, she knows everything about these things.

Dinner yesterday was very good, and the jelly well, it was proper jelly

fab day here today. I went to the market and I was approached by a campaigner for Formigoni, I had the satisfaction to say: "nemmeno con una pistola puntata alla tempia"

OP posts:
Brangelina · 03/04/2008 11:16

Lol Franca! That reminds me of when I got approached by someone from Lega Nord spouting xenophobic crap in piazza duomo once. He caught me on a bad day. I kindly pointed out that a) I was straniera, bensì sprovvista di "abbronzatura" and b) that for noi stranieri, tutti gli italiani sono terroni, a partire da quelli con il foulard verde. I also gave him a linguistics lesson on the origin of the word xenophobia and intimated that it was a sure indication of profound ignorance and generally the reserve of the ceti bassi....Poor man was a tad shellshocked, I think I might have used too many long words.

Hhell, you can eat as many apricots as you like, the vegetable form of vitamin a is beta carotene which is actually an antioxidant that the body transforms into vitamin A as needed. It's the animal form of vit A you have to worry about, which is why they tell you to stay away from liver. Keep eating the dried apricots, they'll bump up your iron and keep you "regular".

Pippi, how exciting! I too was convinced you'd had the baby already. I hope everything goes as smoothly and quickly as possible. Here are some happy labour vibes ))))))))))

Brangelina · 03/04/2008 11:19

By the way Rosa, I'm very impressed by your superior cookery knowledge. Remind me to hire you as catering manager should I ever decide to throw a huge party. Was that your job before?

francagoestohollywood · 03/04/2008 11:25

Lol Brangelina, gosh, well done! To my "neanche con una pistola..." this young guy replied "ma ha fatto tanto per la Lombardia " to which I replied, " si, per i suoi amici ciellini, provi a farsi un giro negli ospedali, sono tutti primari..." At this he left me alone. It was a bunch of twenty yrs old, they were being quite insistenti...
Sadly I think my favourite bancarella, that sells great cheese and great salumi, I think it's run by a racist leghista... I'm not sure whether to follow my principles or my taste buds. To think about it, this interrogativo (principles/taste buds) is one of the main problem of italy

where's gio gone?

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 03/04/2008 11:26

Yes, Rosa def sounds like she knows her stuff. I'm trying the chicken thing on monday with academic guest...

OP posts:
Brangelina · 03/04/2008 11:34

I never normally know what to say, it's just that the poor guy caught me on a day when I'd spent the morning having to argue diplomatically with useless numpties in comune, so I got on a roll and just kept going....

I saw a documentary on the ciellini (I think it was annozero) linked to about how difficult it is to get an abortion because of all the medici obbiettori. Emma Bonino talks a lot of sense, not all the time but on subjects like this.

I'd say go with your taste buds, unless the guy goes off on a political rant when you're buying, in which case you can hit him round the heat with his prosciutto.

I think Gio is still being tour guide. Either that or recovering from it.

francagoestohollywood · 03/04/2008 11:39

Yes, I saw the same program too (with Travaglio on the public health system in Lombardia - Formigoni) (hve I ever confessed I have a crush on Marco Travaglio? ). Yes, I'm totally with Anna Bonino on the abortion issue. This thing about obiettori has been going on for ages, and it's common knowledge that CL is very powerful in the Milanese Faculty of Medicine. I remember a friend of mine needed a map and the quest for it transformed into a via crucis. This in Milan

OP posts:
Brangelina · 03/04/2008 11:52

Yes I remember your crush on Travaglio.

He was in Monza recently I think, can't remember what for but there were loads of posters up. I didn't go and see him, I think it might ahve clashed with my kickboxing or something.

Right, must book this bl*°dy hotel in Sofia. They're really cheap, something like 60 euros a night for 4 star. There's probably some catch somewhere.

francagoestohollywood · 03/04/2008 11:59

when are you off?

OP posts:
Brangelina · 03/04/2008 12:03

Next Wednesday, come back the next day.

Are there any Bulgarian delicacies I can bring you? Are there any Bulgarian delicacies full stop?

francagoestohollywood · 03/04/2008 12:38

Isn't Bulgaria the country of roses? I seem to remember (from an exam of Geography so far far far away in the past) that they are the biggest producer of roses...

OP posts:
hotHELL · 03/04/2008 12:51

lol, lol, lol, at the famous Bulgarian roses and the conflict taste buds/principles (agree with bran, if the guy says anything you know where to stick the salami). I am glad i haven't been poisoning the baby with my vit a, i didnt dare telling dp about the need i have for dried apricots, i would never ever go to the toilet if i didn't eat them.....
i would end up shouting all the time at people if i lived in italy permanently, the stupidity of its people....
thank you bran for putting my heart and guts at peace.
