Lelli Kelly we the ones we got for Gran Canaria and she is right on the end so think its the bin for them. I saw some similar ones in Bata for about Eu19 not so sparkly but very girly. They were canvas with a leather insole. NOt sure about the free gift though. She got lip gloss ( given away ) and a sparkly bag ..bottom of toy box !
Sandals we got this time are Naturino sort of sandals but with closed in toes. Feet can breathe easily but can wear with socks if needed. She had open toe sandals last year and bridges and open toes are Great for stubbed toes .. Then if we can hold on we will get trainers for the Uk racing round teh garden / british weather etc etc as these ones are not rain proof ! Oh and she got 2 balloons from Naturino and she is still playing with them !

HAve fun in the fresh air its getting hot here now ....

ciaoooo!!! sorry, we decided last minute to follow dh to le Marche, he had a conference in ANcona and we stayed at my paternal grandmother's (tiny) house on the seaside, half an hour from Ancona. It was fab, we had the beach for ourselves and ds ate a huge quantity of vongole and lumachine di mare. I have burnt my neck.
Rosa, how's the pancia?
dh is going to england tomorrow, so if there's anything you need (from boots ) let me know...

Franca still waiting for results..Its getting hard to hide now have a communione ( sp) today but not going to the church with dd the prete is a bit rompe not like ours who likes nothing more than children coming and playing !!!
Glad you had a good time I like Le Marche been years since I went. well done to ds I don't think I even tried a vongole until I came to Italy.
Am looking for maternity clothes not easy . Seeing as those nice tops are out of fashion now . Want loose cotton not hugging bump stuff and do not want to spend £40 on a t shirt !! Thx for offer have g parents coming Thurs am so looking forward to it .

francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2008 16:50

Have you got H&M near you? Lots of lovely summery tops, which I thought "it'd be perfect with a bump!"...
If all the guests at the comunione are like me, they won't realize you're pg. Today we had a picnic with friends and the dc and I didn't even realize one of my friends was pg... she's reaching her 5th month !

I think I am going to get stuff from Simply be. It is for larger ladies but you can get sizes up from a 16 so thats me sorted. I got my wedding outfit from them - it is maternity . But they have some nice tops in the normal section which can take a bump and also cotton and not too pricey. Its £5 for next day delivery so I can get it to mum in time. Today I wore a loose wrap top that hid everything but zia did say you look stanca!!! Plus I am an ample sort so people might think but the wont say as I might just have ingrassata !!!
DD had a ball and she was black when we came home. Put her straight in the bath.
Heres hoping domani for results as we have a festa di una bambina with a few of my friends who wont be so tactful !!!!

francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2008 17:12

lol at the zia, they have a million eyes .
Let us know how it goes tomorrow, will keep fingers crossed . How long are your parents staying for?

OP posts:
Rosa · 11/05/2008 17:24

They arrive Thurs pm. They also have 2 friends with them so it wont be as good as they will have to show them Venice but we will be in the Uk in hopefully 6 weeks. We have the wedding on Sat and they are here until Tues pm - Think the flight is about 8pm. They are staying with us so dd will wake up on Friday to find her nonni here!
I have been nervoso all weekend and a bit irritable ..........more with me stesso than with others. Dropping things messing up cooking talking of which better think about something for dd.

francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2008 18:49

Your dd will be so excited! My dc used to love when both sets of grandparents visited us in the UK.

I'm sorry to hear you are in not so great mood. Do you think it's the hormones?

whereabouts on le marche were you Franca? Am very I au-paired there when I was v young, San Benedetto del Tronto. Got very fond memories of the area.
Are you getting uptight waiting for the results do you think Rosa?

francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2008 19:06

Oh, San Benedetto is lovely. No, I was near Fano, where my dad grew up

we went to see dp's great aunts family - they live in the middle of lazio on a small farm. like a different world to Rome. Came back laden down with fresh eggs, salad, cheese etc. ds was spoilt beyond belief! I think my understanding of what was said was probably on par with ds's! The dialect is completely different from romano and I found it near impossible to follow!

francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2008 19:42

lol! My grandmother used to talk in a mix of Milanese and Alessandrino dialect to my grandfather, which was very difficult to understand
Fresh eggs are something else, aren't they? Just delicious! mmmmmm eggs and soldiers!

hotHELL · 12/05/2008 10:21

good vibes to you rosa...

francagoestohollywood · 12/05/2008 10:25

I'd be really nervous as well, waiting for results. At least you spring into action rosa, when I'm nervous I never know what to do with myself and non combino niente. I hope the phone rings today.

Brangelina · 12/05/2008 13:01

Well? Biting my nails here on your behalf. I'm sure everything will be hunkydory, you're a fresh flower compared to me, so what can possibly not be right? Will you also tell us what flavour you have or would you prefer to keep it to yourself?

Franca, your Dad's from nr Fano? I spent a bit of time there, before I found out that the guy I'd been seeing was a loony Moonie religious nutter. It's also the only place I ever attempted driving in Italy, which put me off totally.

hotHELL · 12/05/2008 13:06

oh, lol at mumsnet rehab!

francagoestohollywood · 12/05/2008 13:11

Brangelina, my dad is from all over the peninsula... half veneto, half marchigiano, grew up pretty in at least 10 different places. His early life sounds like a neorealista movie.

OP posts:
Brangelina · 12/05/2008 13:17

How cool! So I guess he doesn't speak either dialetto then?.

BTW, do you speak milanese? DP is milanese born and bred but only knows the odd phrase (which I have picked up). I don't think anyone under 60 does speak it, unlike in other regions of Italy where even younger people speak dialetto. I remember picking up a fair amount of pugliese from my ex.

francagoestohollywood · 12/05/2008 13:29

no, he doesn't. No, I don't speak any Milanese. My maternal grandparents used to, a weird mix of milanese (they moved to Milan in 1945, after the war) and piemontese. My relatives in Treviso still speak the dialect.

Oh Brangelina, I don't know what to do next september... send dd to council scuola materna, or keep sending her to the private one, which is lovely, only 3 days a week? I think she'd love being at home twice a week.....

OP posts:
Brangelina · 12/05/2008 14:01

If you have no problem with the fees, I'd send her to the one she's at now. You know what it's like and it will save her being uprooted again so soon after moving country. However, having said that, she does have another 2(?) years to go, so if she changes now she'll have plenty of time to settle in at the other place.....

I suppose it depends on her character. I know my DD would probably be best left in one place, which is why I'm quite glad she got the statale as it feeds into the elementare she'd be going to (if I stay in Monza, that is...) so she won't have to face all new people again, but maybe yours is more outgoing and would feel the change a lot less.

Do you really want to do only 3 days? What does the asilo say? I know some nidi privati get quite sniffy about part time attendance ans it mucks up the places they have available (not much vertical part time round these parts, so no kids and no fees for the free days). Also, what if your dream job pops up?

francagoestohollywood · 12/05/2008 14:15

Reasons for staying at private nursery: she seems very happy there and I really like the teachers. They are (or at least look!) always cheerful and affettuose. Plus they have english lessons twice a week. I know her English is obviously (or at least it used to be) better that that of her peers, but it is better than nothing.

Reasons for going to scuola materna comunale: it's free , it's 3 mins walk from home, it's got very a good reputation, partly feeds into our primary school.

and yes, what if I work?

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 12/05/2008 14:17

The reasons for sending her 3 times a week is that she thrives being at home, without her older brother. They are very close, they miss each other, they do everything together. But he has an overwhelming personality, and I feel she might benefit from some time on her own, iyswim......

OP posts:
Brangelina · 12/05/2008 14:26

But she'll be apart from him now anyway, no? Isn't your DS starting elementare in September? Maybe you could do short days and pick her up at 1pm, so you have 3 hrs before big brother is home. Have you asked the nursery about doing the odd days only? Are they OK with it?

I'm curious about the English classes, what actually do they entail? Is it just singing songs and nursery rhymes and things? At the state materna they start at 5 and tbh I'm a bit about the content and whether it might set DD back in some way (Aussie friend had her DS constantly being told off because he kept using phrases that weren't in the book. He even got bocciato once). I'm sure things have moved on from then, but I remain sceptical until proved wrong.
