Welcome!

I love the name

As for mirrors, I haven't had a proper mirror (full length) for more than 10 yrs now

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 29/04/2008 12:34

I don;t care so much about the full length one (still some kilos to go) it's the face and the hair that are a worry. I probably look like the old bint that was trying to convert brang!! (I've been trying to catch up).

what's the story with being 0 neg and the three needles???

I hate how here they do not tell you your blood group. the only way I can guess dd1 is pos and dd2 is neg (which group is your guess) is by the fact that with dd2 I did not need an anti d injection.

PippiCalzelunghe · 29/04/2008 12:35

thanks re the name !

francagoestohollywood · 29/04/2008 12:39

I'm totally ignorant about o- blood, as both me and dh are positive. Children must either be A or B. boh!

I know the feeling Pippi! I remember the first ew months of having a baby: my hair were all over the place, eyebrows got bushy, hair on legs incontrollable, etc etc. The first time you manage to go to the hairdresser feels great (but full of anxiety: will I make it in 2 hrs before the next poppata?)

PippiCalzelunghe · 29/04/2008 12:40

franca have you sold the house yet?

Rosa · 29/04/2008 12:44

Blimey guys I missed so much. Pippi lovely to hear / see you again and lovely name!! Sleeping baby you are lucky and hope the piles go soon.Is the house lovelt now or do you still have more to do. Is dd1 taking dd2 well ?
I have eliminated 1 needle for the CVS as am taking pills !!! So just the 2.
Sardegna loved it I went regularly for work always early and late season and adored it I seemed to always manage to add on an extra day or so for those essential beach visits !
Wellits raining guys here again and all this talk of holidays I am hoping we get a week in the mountains or something before heading to the UK late June / early July - trusting all goes ok with bump.

PippiCalzelunghe · 29/04/2008 12:49

Oh I think i'll go to the hairdresser soon during the day when no one else is in so i can feed her if she needs. Also I want to try going to the cinema with a newborn. want to see persepolis - read the comic when first came out and adored them. loads of people do that apparently. in the morning or early aft obviously. what would you do about the noise though????

Brangelina · 29/04/2008 12:56

I went to the hairdresser when DD was 8 days old. I mistakenly thought that I'd have a couple of hours when she slept in the afternoon. That was the day she decided to stop sleeping in the day. I ended up taking ehr with me to the hairdresser and feeding her there while they were doing my colour....

Brangelina · 29/04/2008 12:58

Is your DD2 one who keeps quiet as soon as a boob is popped into her mouth? My DD was like that, although my only problem when out and about were the explosive pooey nappies and finding somewhere to change her. Not sure how easy that would be in a cinema.

francagoestohollywood · 29/04/2008 13:17

Pippi, the Picture house in Exeter used to have one morning every fortnight dedicated to mums with babies under 1. I only managed to go once with dd. Obviously it was quite noisy, but no one would tell you off if your child was crying . I remember it was quite easy. We arrived, she was asleep. She woke up. I fed her. She went back to sleep. Ah, she was lovely. I'm all broody now

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 29/04/2008 13:18

no, the house is still for sale . dh is going to exeter in a few weeks, he has to work, but also is seeing the agents.

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 29/04/2008 13:19

yes she def shuts up when boob's in. also able to stay with dirty nappy unless absolutely full to the brim, like dd1! I guess that tells you more about the mum than the child ! couldn't I change it on the sit next to mine. I don;t expect anyone be at the cinema daytime to watch that movie. do you?

went to pick up dd1 from childminder and she's straight in bed for pisolino till 3ish. this is a great habit we picked up from italy, gives me a break and makes dd much much more manageable.

PippiCalzelunghe · 29/04/2008 13:20

really??? bugger!!

PippiCalzelunghe · 29/04/2008 13:21

how much did I miss this????!!! you see though I am doing f**k all! I cannot even be bothered to go and close the velux window as it's pouring it down.

Abena · 29/04/2008 13:22

Franca yes CAT me but what does that mean!!?
The babysitter came this morning and said that I have to take my twins to her place in the mornings as they would be looked after there. She only lives 10 minutes away and I am going to see her place tomorrow. The Italian communication wasnt as bad as I feared. She asked for 1200 euros a month because there are two. She said she normally charges 600 for one so its double.
Is this ok or am I being a mug? Does anyone think it is too much? She comes highly recommended though.

Rosa · 29/04/2008 13:23

Hurrah hurrah Pippis back - you have been missed.
DD was pretty good when out and about but oh boy could she turn up the volume if you did not feed her when she wanted. Once paid 8 Eu for a juice when needed to feed her and all my stopping places were closed !!!
Glad dd1 is doing ok.
Franca if you are in the Uk in August I should be in COrnwall !!!

Brangelina · 29/04/2008 13:28

Hmmm, I certainly wouldn't expect it to be double because there are 2. Plus you've got the hassle of getting them ready and taking them to her house. Is she going to feed them with her own food or will you be bringing it? It is very unusual tbh, most babysitters have a set fee for the post, whether there be 1 or more children. Maybe if there were something like 5 kids then yes, there would be a supplement. I was a babysitter for 2 siblings and charged the same as I did for one. For that price you might as well put them in nursery.

Have you got another person in the pipeline? How about calling her bluff and offering 1000 max?

PippiCalzelunghe · 29/04/2008 13:37

rosa tell me all about your pg please!!!

abena sorry I am of no help at all. I guess here a childminder will charge double for 2 siblings. as for a babysitter i never thought about it but I'll ask.

Abena · 29/04/2008 13:39

Yes I think I will do that. No I dont have anyone in the pipeline but it seems very expensive and if it costs the same as a nursery they would be better off going to one. She says that she will provide the food which will just be lunch as I will get them ready in the morning (was expecting to hand them over in pyjamas to her in MY apartment and leave her to change/feed etc).

Sorry one big favour! Can you write in Italian:
'I think 1200 euros is a bit too expensive. How about reducing it to 1000.'
THANKS!!:O

Abena, CAT is a way to contact you, basically MN will forward you my email address, to which you can reply (if you want). You have to check your settings to see if you have enabled it.
1.200 sounds quite dear, given that you have to take them there. However, if she's highly recommended I would try to secure her...

Rosa, yes, I've been thinking of going. July would be good as well, as the school would still be open and I know ds would absolutely love to go and see his mates there. Dh told me off yesterday because I told him I was missing Exeter. What was he thinking that I would erase 8 yrs of my life like that? Also I'm prone to saudadge (spelling????)

francagoestohollywood · 29/04/2008 13:44

Penso che 1.200 euro al mese sia troppo caro. Non si potrebbe abbassare a 1000 euro?"

Yes, you are right, for 1200 euros a month, I'd be happier with a nursery, tbh ...

OP posts:
Brangelina · 29/04/2008 13:48

Credo che 1200 euro sia un po' troppo caro. Pensavo di pagare 1000 euro.

Do also check what she will be feeding them for lunch. Also, if they are tiny they should be getting a mid morning snack (ususally fruit in nursery) and a mid afternoon snack of something nutritious (ie, not Kinder crap). All day with just lunch is a long time on a tiny tummy.

I'm sure you could get someone else for 1000 euros. How about a filippina? They usually speak English too and are brill with very small children.
