Hope you all find me.

Well done Zeb. Yes a beautiful day today here too. It was glorious yesterday. I went with a friend to the allotment and we lazed between the blubells while our dc played all afternoon. Lovely/ Today I am going to treat us to a watering can, buying one is far easier than excavating our existing one from the back of the shed. Our watering at the allotment with a pop bottle is far from adequate!...Mmmm Berrie begins to hatch a cunning plan whereby the watering can fits on the toddler brick trolley so that dc can go back and forth to the tap instead!

Binkle, I keep thinking about you spitting out the flapjack and giggling!

oggsfrog · 07/05/2008 10:04

Beautiful here too, and I'm off to buy a rose for the watering can , flower, parsnip, turnip and khol rabi seeds.

Zebedeedoodah · 07/05/2008 11:55

All right for some.

BottlebinBerrie · 07/05/2008 12:31

Grrrr...you've got me fantasising about going on the Cambridge diet and losing a stone for my holiday...despite my better judgement!

LyraSilvertongue · 07/05/2008 12:55

My friend's been checking out the Cambridge Diet and apparently you can do a one-month programme if you've only got a stone or so to lose. It's very tempting...

BottlebinBerrie · 07/05/2008 13:33

How have you got on with finding a counsellor Oggs?

Zebedeedoodah · 07/05/2008 13:43

I ducked out of the lunch - too busy with my lovely spreadsheets () - and was very good and had a chicken & avocado salad with rocket, tomato & cucumber. Does this mean I only need to eat some of the melon in my fridge and I've achieved my 'five-a-day'? That'd be a first.
I'm still intrigued by the Cambridge diet though, the idea of losing 7-10lbs in 1 week is kinda tempting.

binkleandflip · 07/05/2008 17:13

well I'm getting weighed again tomorrow so I have lost 7lb so far (last mon - sat) and I'm hoping to have lost at least another three tomorrow (between sun - thurs) I'll definately check in and let you know how I do!!

I've been in the salon training today - we've been doing dermabrasion (oooh!!)

I'm officially the owner on 28th May!!

oggsfrog · 07/05/2008 17:43

That's great Binkle

I'm meeting a counsellor tomorrow

LyraSilvertongue · 07/05/2008 17:45

We could do it together Oggs.

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 07/05/2008 17:49

Are you thinking of doing it Lyra? Surely you've not got anything to lose?

oggsfrog · 07/05/2008 17:49

Binkle should be on commission

LyraSilvertongue · 07/05/2008 17:52

I'm thinking of doing the one-month lose a stone version. I have about 1.5 stone to lose to get back to my ideal weight.

OP posts:
BottlebinBerrie · 07/05/2008 19:50

Oh go on, I'll give it a whirrl!

oggsfrog · 07/05/2008 20:41

I'm really excited about tomorrow but am worried that I'll have to do a weeks preparation before I can start. Also when she asked if I was on any medication I fibbed and said no, not mentioning my inhaler.

Also. Big hurdle. The festival is 2 weeks away and I don't honestly know how I'll get through it without drinking. I think I can manage without food as I've done thatbefore when on Atkins, but a four day music festival without a drink ?

BottlebinBerrie · 07/05/2008 22:22

What sort of preparation?
Can't you do it if you use an inhaler?
Can't you have a few days off for the festival?

oggsfrog · 08/05/2008 07:31

Berrie, on the website they advise doing a weeks preparation to get your body used to reduced calories/carbs/more water.
I've really been looking into it as I did consider doing slimfast, but as I understand it they are totally different.
Slimfast mixes are a sugary carby mix which seems to lead to the blood sugar swings which make you hungry.
Cambridge is a very low cal, low carm mix which puts you into ketosis (this is what happens when you do strict low carb as I've done), during ketosis you lose the feeling of hunger (unbelievable but true) and your body switches from burning glucose to burning fat. You need to drink a lot of water to help your body flush out the fats.
The problem is (as on very low carb) that if you cheat, then you switch out of ketosis and the body stores food as fat again. (It takes a few days to swtich to ketosis so cheating is not beneficial in more ways than one).

binkleandflip · 08/05/2008 08:09

ooooh this is so exciting!! Come one Zeb, you should give it a whirl too!!

As for ketosis, I have to say, I'm not sure if I am in it or not although I was definately in it last week (you get the swabs to check your wee - nice) as I have been quite hungry this week so I suppose the proof will be in the weigh-in today (fingers crossed!!!)

LyraSilvertongue · 08/05/2008 08:13

Thanks for the info Oggs. I have to say I was slightly put off by my experiences with Slimfast, which left me starving and, ahem, full of wind.
It's good to know Cambridge is so different. I'll definitely look into it more. For me, if I can't lose weight quickly, I may as well not bother because I won't stick with it.

BottlebinBerrie · 08/05/2008 08:36

Oh yes...how much?

oggsfrog · 08/05/2008 08:38

I think Binkle paid £34 for the weeks supplies. I'll let you know when I get back. There seems to be a recommended price for the stuff, but the Counsellors are self-employed/independant so it can vary.

binkleandflip · 08/05/2008 09:05

When are you going oggs?

oggsfrog · 08/05/2008 09:08

Appointment today at 1pm. Very excited .
Do I have to get my Dr to sign anything before I can start?
Any good soups at all?
What do I wear? Presuming she will weigh me. Do I have to wear same things each week?

binkleandflip · 08/05/2008 09:12

I dont think you need the drs approval - just that if they flag up any medical ishoos they need to inform the dr. I already had drs go ahead to do low calorie as I'd spoken to him about (between me and you) wanting to try prescription diet pills and he advised me to try CD or similiar instead.

Just wear what you're comfy in because she will want to measure you too (this includes THIGHS - horror of horrors!!) and then wear similiar clothes each week to get re-weighed.

I found soups pretty awful but you might like them - I suppose give them a try but dont get loads of sachets of them just in case.

Dont forget you need a blender!!

oggsfrog · 08/05/2008 09:17

Got a blender already.
Suppose jeans it is then - I have no other trousers that fit, and if intimate measuring is required then a skirt is out .
I did check with Dr before starting Atkins 2yrs ago and he was okay with it.
