Hope you all find me.

Atkins. Good plan. Step away from the bagels Zeb.

oggsfrog · 14/04/2008 12:40

Zeb, I've not been doing mid-week drinking for weeks now . Only drink on 2 nights. Usually Fri and Sat. Occasionalaallly Fri/Sun or Sat/Sun.
Have started low carbing this morning. 3 scrambled eggs with 3 slices of 'nice' ham. 2 decaf coffees w/ splenda and soya milk.

Berrie, my knee is an ongoing thing. I had a bucket handle tear in the cartilage of my knee, resulting in them removing most of said cartilage. This was 20 years ago. They said that I might suffer arthritis when I'm older. They were right. Just unusual for it to be so soon. Saw consultant last year and was referred to physio. Basically can't do weight bearing exercise and have to build up the muscles surrounding my kneecap with repetitive boring leg lifts etc.
It's also exacerbated by a fallen arch. Problem is I'm now getting hip pain too .
Basically I'm buggered, and all this excess weight is not good, but am very limited as to what exercise I can do...

Berrie · 14/04/2008 14:19

Oggs I admire you for not drinking. Have you stuck at it since we last decided to do it?
Sorry about your knee. I guess you don't have a very local swimming pool.

I have done atkins before. That was one I couldn't stick to. Dh did a bit better but not for long. Slimming World didn't make me feel deprived but again, I lost the weight then put on more.

Yes I'm in (again) no drink for Berrie tonight.

Berrie · 14/04/2008 14:34

Right...I've put some tonic water in the fridge. I've a large pile of ironing to do. I'm ready!

oggsfrog · 14/04/2008 14:53

The nearest swimming pool is about 10 miles away and has been closed for renovation for over a year. The next nearest is about 30 miles away and is only one of those diddy ones

Berrie · 14/04/2008 15:19

You'll have to get dh to dig you a pool!

Lyra, why do you need BD&C's home approval? Can't you just get one?

Berrie · 14/04/2008 15:19

Oh yes and hurry up with those pictures!

Zebedeedoodah · 14/04/2008 16:32

An early night with my cocoa I think Am I allowed cocoa?

Berrie · 14/04/2008 19:11

I want a drink, I want a drink, I want a drink...

oggsfrog · 14/04/2008 20:02

No you don't, no you don't, no you don't... now get back to that ironing

oggsfrog · 14/04/2008 20:04

The only way I manage not having a drink in the week is to not have any in the house. At all. If I had it in, I'd drink it, which is a sad state of affairs but at least I'm being honest with myself now.

Berrie · 14/04/2008 20:09

We have several bottles of stella and there is a half bottle of brandy behind the microwave...or at least it used to be a half bottle. If that wasn't there there are 5 gallons of plum or so in the kitchen which needs bottling...

Fear not, the worst has passed now. Still have not done the ironing though!

LyraSilvertongue · 14/04/2008 22:49

Hmph. I asked DP not to bring wine home to make it easier to abstain. So he 'compromised' by buying the cheap nasty two bottles for a fiver stuff that I can't stand . Now, this is not helpful, as even bad wine is better than no wine when you fancy a drink of an evening. I've managed to resist though.
Berrie, we need BD&C Home's approval to get a rescue kitten from them. Then we still have to pay them £50 for the privilege. We should have just got one from the small ads in the back of the local paper but DP wanted to get a rescue cat.
I spent this afternoon at Ikea and spent a fortune but now the house looks lovely. On the way I went to the sorting office to pick up a parcel and Nick Cotton (of EastEnders fame) was at the next window!
I've been a bit of a celeb magnet the last few weeks. We saw Jo Whiley and Mark Owen from Take That at Disney. Jo Whiley was being escorted around by some Disney butler type person, queueing separately and being ushered in side doors to rides while Mark Owen just got on with it like everybody else. And who's the bigger star?...

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 14/04/2008 22:58

Planning application refused again. Bastards.
Where's that wine...

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 14/04/2008 22:59

Very very and .

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 15/04/2008 07:12

So sorry Lyra. Will you appeal?

Regarding your Mark Owen and Jo Whiley question I would have thought that Jo was the bigger star. Which one was Mark Owen? The weedy, pocket sized, high voiced one?

oggsfrog · 15/04/2008 07:13

We've got bloody snow here again! Getting fed up with it now.

Berrie · 15/04/2008 08:11

Sob....I love snow and we've had none

Sorry about your planning Lyra. What was it this time?

Tee hee, I feel so pleased with myself for not drinking. Thanks Oggs for encouraging me.

I would have thought that Nick Cotton, Jo Whiley and the Take That chappie were all equally recognisible face wise but i would say that the TT chp and Nick. have been much more famous in their time. (I know that N.C. had nothing to do with Disney, was just musing!)

oggsfrog · 15/04/2008 08:36

No problem Berrie. I presume you got all your ironing done last night?

Berrie · 15/04/2008 09:13

Tee hee not at all!

Zebedeedoodah · 15/04/2008 10:06

Bad luck Lyra. Is the next step working out who to bribe?

No drink last night. 4 fags though

And I thought Nick Cotton from Eastenders threw himself off Beachy Head, or am I getting him confused with someone else?

LyraSilvertongue · 15/04/2008 10:25

He's definitely alive Zeb
Extension was to be a smaller version of the one we applied for last time. Would have given us an upstairs bathroom but no third bedroom. Def going to appeal but that take six months. Six more long months. Now, where did I put that chamber pot...

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 15/04/2008 10:27

I would have thought Mark Owen (the pocket-sized one Oggs) would be more famous, what with Take That touring again. Jo Whiley's just some voice on the radio.

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 15/04/2008 10:28

Fecking planners. if I had a machine gun I'd go down that town hall and take 'em all out.

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 15/04/2008 10:31

You'd think we wanted to paint the house purple and put turrets on the roof, the way they keep refusing us.
Might have to look again at the loft, but that means lowering all the ceilings on the first floor. And then the only bathroom in the house would be in the loft.
