Hi Phono, you okay? Still loved up?

marmitemad · 08/04/2008 10:17

we have a zafira too, but I wish we'd paid a bit more and got a renault grand scenic as the middle seats are all individual (I reckon you'd get 3 car seats across) but it was just too tricky to get in the garage.

dinner was superb last night, dd was an absolute angel eating loads of garlic bread then had cuddles with me and straight to sleep in her pushchair. SIL drank rather a lot of wine .

dh is now on his way to Munich and I'm on my own for 3 days , still looking forward to moan free and MN full evenings.

Dropdeadfred · 08/04/2008 10:23

Hi marmite, i hope your SIL is okay. How is her dh coping?
we want to swap our zafira as the seating at the back is cramped...

thanks Phono but try to remember that we all have different levels of crapness to deal with at different times and I believe its impossible to try and equate these sort of things on one common scale. So you are totally entitled to whinge on here as are any of us when having a bad time. Glad you and dp are ok now but about him missing the assessment. I don't have any motivation today either .

That said, all I could think of yesterday was how SIL must feel so much worse than I did which panicked me a little as I truly don't know how she is ever going to be able to learn to live with this. I was looking at memorial jewellery and thinking it might have been nice to have organised something for her to have at the funeral but its too late now and then again I just don't know if she would appreciate something like this I like the butterfly necklace and bracelet which are towards the end (hope I haven't upset any of you with this link).

I am also currently really struggling to think of a birthday present for her (bday 25th april).

anyway, thanks to you all for listening to me rambling away, it really helps even if I don't feel up to posting.

fryalot · 08/04/2008 14:24

I think that it would be a lovely idea to buy one of those for her marmite. The butterfly one is nice - I think it is what I would choose.

No idea about her birthday though - could you ask her what she wants? I can't imagine she'll feel like doing anything.

Another shite night here - both littlies back in our bed. Am going to try piriton with ds tonight to see if that helps.

Egg · 08/04/2008 15:40

Hi girls. Squonk I just saw you as VeraSquonk somewhere else ?!?!

Marmite all the jewellery is lovely . I think if I was in a similar position I would be really touched if someone gave me any of them. The butterfly is very pretty.

Phono was about DP missing his assessment. Considering how much post goes missing they ought to follow up the letter with a reminder, or a phonecall, or ask people to acknowledge the first letter so they know it has been received.

Both DTs are crying. Have both just been fed so think they have wind. DS2 not pooed for a while (2.5 days I think) and DS1 not pooed for a while either.

Had a nice morning with DS1 in town. Early Learning Centre, followed by West Cornwall Pasty Co and then the bakers for a gingerbread man. He was happy. He was full of chat today after 12.5hrs sleep . Needless to say I didn't get that much. Am dreading when he works out how to open his bedroom door. DTs started making noise about 3:30am.

Squonk it's a bugger that the littlies were back in your bed after so much success lately. Hopefully just a temporary blip.

Thanks for car info. May get VW Touran, not really sure.

I have a mission!

I am the official Yorkshire Food Beer Expert

At last, something I was made for!

Phono - I read about dp missing his assessment and completely neglected to post about it Hopefully, it won't set him back too much and he can do the assessment soon

marmitemad · 08/04/2008 16:07

thanks for the feedback, I think I will order the butterfly bracelet then as she's more likely to wear it all the time. am a bit confused about why the bracelet is twice the price of the necklace but hey ho.

Squonk - sorry to hear about the littlies in bed, esp after they were doing so well. that Yorkshire food thread is very interesting, I really must sort out a veg box delivery.

dd has now slept really well for over a week, in fact can't remember when she last woke up while we were asleep, bet she's now going to be up all night while I'm on my own.

I really liked the VW Touran as well for space but thought the back end looked a little van-like (don't really like the scenic shape either) and in the end the automatic was just too expensive for us.

Fred - are you allowed to tell us about the source of your good fortune yet?

Dropdeadfred · 08/04/2008 16:30

We have been told that funds will be transferred tomorrow!! Hurray.

I am aware that it is very crass to discuss money (and Phono belive me I have had times like yours when we were desperate for pay ay!!) and therefore will not go into too much detail, but it is a life-changing amount of money...DP is even considering taking a year off work. It's great knowing that the all three girls could go to Uni without worrying about funding now and we think that dd3 will probably go to private school from aged 4 now.

I cannot say where it came from at the moment, as other deals are still ongoing - except that it was legitimate business!!

Marmite - I think the bracelet is beautiful. I know I am in a completely different situation to you and your SIL, but I often wish I had something to remind me of the babies I never got to meet and that jewellery seems like a lovely way of keeping a memory...

Phono - I hope that you can arrange for DP to do his assessment ASAP and that it doesn't affect his chances. How is he doing with his weight btw?

marmitemad · 08/04/2008 17:27

sorry that was very nosey of me wasn't it , anyway am very, very pleased for you and your family .

dd just took her first step (with me holding her hands) and is now pulling her favourite Engineering dynamics textbook out of the bookcase while I'm on pc

Dropdeadfred · 08/04/2008 21:18

Not at all Marmite - a fair question that I would be asking anyone of you if you anounced a small windfall, but it's not a lottery win or anything, so I won't be wearing Dior or diamonds when you see me!!
It really doesn't seem that long ago that dd3 took her first steps... and she's three next Month!!

marmitemad · 09/04/2008 10:47

Good to hear about no diamonds/dior, I was starting to worry you might not want to talk to me

Phono - Looked at your FB photos last night, you are so pretty & skinny, getting worried about meeting you as well now .

dd slept all night again although I was awake until 1am .

Have just ordered the butterfly bracelet for sil.

Dropdeadfred · 09/04/2008 11:01

Yes marmite..I am going to have to uglify Phono on the train down to Brighton (and stuff her with cake to add a few stone too).

Maybe I could deliberately accidentally spill drink on her tiny clothes and offer her a huge tent-like dress to wear instead..?

Sorry Phono only joking!! {grin]

doc listened to his chest and said she couldn't hear anything (which I wouldn't expect her to be able to 8 hours later) but she said that her not hearing anything means it is NOT asthma.

But she prescribed some cough medicine and gave me some more ventalin/salbutamol for his inhaler.

I think I will make an appt with the asthma clinic and see what they say.

Egg · 09/04/2008 15:04

Oh Squonky you sound really fed up. Not surprised. When DS1's coughing is bad it is dreadful. Keeps everyone awake, makes him miserable etc and there is never any solution. Cough mixture doesn't work (and he wont take it anyway), inhaler made no difference etc. Hope you get some answers soon.

Phono have not looked at your FB pics yet, I think I will leave it til I have washed my hair and am not looking so rough myself or I will be .

Fred so so chuffed for you. Honestly you so deserve it. Looks like 2008 will be your year, after a pretty cack 2007. Would be so nice to have DP off work for a while too.

DS1 in bed. DTs are down here after a fairly crap nap (they cried on and off for ages). DD had another poo. Got to feed them soon.

Marmite glad you got the butterfly ordered. I bet your SIL will be so touched. Hope she doesn't read about it on here before she sees it! Forgot she was on MN. I really feel for you lying awake til 1am. It is crap. It is better being woken up by DCs than just being unable to sleep. I had it a lot when I was pg as just kept thinking about things, but even worse when you are sad about things, I was just terrified!

Looking forward to tomorrow as DS1 at nursery, should be on here a bit more.

Dropdeadfred · 09/04/2008 15:43

Squonk is it a really dry cough? Whenever dd3 has bad tosils or a really hacking cough we get the humidifier out..it really does eem to help having a moister atmosphere in her bedroom.

When we didn't have one we used to get a towel, rinse it with water, ring it out so still wet but not dripping and place it on her radiator (on quite hot) then add a couple of drops of Olbas oil too if she was bunged up.

Definitely helped - not sure if it's something you could try. ( her cough used to be far worse at night than day).

Egg - thanks for the lovely words. DP is desperate to see more of dd3 before she goes off to nursery more and finally school, but it dpends if he gets the amount that he's banking on and if house prices cme down in this area as getting a house is a priority.
God - if he was around all day how would I MN? I'd have to become StepfordFred!!! EEeek!!

Marmite and Phono, hope you're both okay?

Egg · 09/04/2008 16:11

Must be honest, would love DH to be at home, but would prob go mad after a week! All in all though I would love him to be able to be at home!

Babies are fed. DS2 drained the bottle. DD had half . Poor tiny tummy.
