thanks for the towel idea. I'll give it a go.

Feel a teeny bit better now. I suppose it's because I roused myself off the settee and actually did something!

Egg · 09/04/2008 16:47

Squonk the other day when I lay down for 1.5hrs at lunch I felt SO ILL when I got up again. Keeping busy helps when you are dog tired.

I am currently MNing and chasing DS1 round the room whilst growling. DS2 is asleep, DD is playing under arch.

Well dd2 slept all night.

Ds woke up at 1. Went back to sleep at 3. Alarm went off at 6. After I had wandered around the house looking for where dp had fallen asleep so I could wake him up. Found him in the bath (wide awake ) so that was ds and me both up for the day. Dd2 woke up about ten minutes ago.

Thank God for ITNG this morning

Dropdeadfred · 10/04/2008 08:49

oh Squonk - thats harsh...i seem to need my sleep more and more these days..God knows how I would cope with ababy again if it ever happened!

VeraSquonkTheBeerGuru · 10/04/2008 08:53

Am working on the Stepford Squonk principle that if I keep going, I won't fall asleep.

So today it's washing (which is good because the washing machine takes a while, so I have time to MN while I'm still doing housework )

How's everyone else this morning?

Fred - I know what you mean. It almost makes me think that I don't want another one after all

Dropdeadfred · 10/04/2008 09:00

Yes Squonk...I know exactly what you mean. I do know that the sleepless nights are somewhat balanced out in the early days bu having a gorgeous sweetsmelling babe to cuddle in the early hours....it's the following three years of broken nights and early mornings that rapidly lose their appeal...

VeraSquonkTheBeerGuru · 10/04/2008 09:01

and when you add that to the whingey, tantrummy toddler who is tired because they didn't get enough sleep...

Dropdeadfred · 10/04/2008 09:05

oh yes!!! and you feel like yelling go to bloody sleep at night then! have a nap darling while mummy tidies up all the mess you've made!!

VeraSquonkTheBeerGuru · 10/04/2008 09:07

yup.

Actually what I really want to say to them is: "leave me aloooooooooone"

Dropdeadfred · 10/04/2008 09:10

yes i wonder if the government will ever provide mandatory lunch hours for sahm's aswel as child benefit?

can you imagine..your free nanny turns up and whisks the dcs upstairs to tidy their room whilst you snack on something yummy and watch neighbours...

VeraSquonkTheBeerGuru · 10/04/2008 09:11

aaaahhhhhhh heaven!

Dd2 is at nursery this afternoon. D'ya think if I sneaked out without ds they would notice he was there?

marmitemad · 10/04/2008 09:12

Had a very yummy dinner at my mums last night but felt very tired as I was so busy at work.

dd slept all night, woke up at 07:30am but I had such a bad headache I took some some paracetamol and put her back to sleep. She has now just re-awoken at 09:00am but I still have my headache (don't shoot me, I promise she isn't always this good, and I'm still waiting for some fall out from the mmr)

VeraSquonkTheBeerGuru · 10/04/2008 09:14

marmite - perhaps her being a little extra tired and sleeping till 9 is the fall out from the MMR?

It could be...

marmitemad · 10/04/2008 09:18

I hadn't thought there could be good effects, I just assumed there would be a month of screaming all night after hearing horror stories from everyone else.

Dropdeadfred · 10/04/2008 10:26

Marmite d3 slept for hours and hours and hours afte the mmr for about a week...

headache upon waking up is often dehydration...gulp plenty of cool water (not too cold or will make head really hurt!!)

marmitemad · 10/04/2008 10:31

I thought I was dehydrated as I didn't drink enough at work and at my mums yesterday,
was really thirsty when I got home so drank a pint of water but obviously it wasn't enough.

off out shopping to look for a bday present for sil now but will take a large bottle of water with me.

Egg · 10/04/2008 11:06

Marmite I have same thing. Keep waking up feeling awful as though I am hungover, but yet drink lots of water, even in the night. Hope you feel better and find something nice out shopping.

All ok here. DS1 at nursery. DTs bathed, fed and in bed. Having a predicament with their night feeds now. They both tend to feed around 4/4:30am, which is great, not complaining there. However I have always, since trying to have them on a bit of a routine, given them their "breakfast" feed by about 7:30am to keep them on track for the day. However they are taking less and less at this feed as are having a good feed at 4am and just don't seem hungry. Today they had 20ml each, ie I might as well not bother. Should I just give up and let them feed when they are next ready? Am worried it will be something like 9am, which will then mean all feeds for the rest of the day are way out of time, and they wont have a feed before 7pm bed. Does any of that make sense? Today they are having their "lunchtime nap" at 11am.

I laughed at you lot discussing the "joys" of babies and sleepless nights and whether it is wise to have another. I am not minding this stage too much but am dreading having two toddlers to deal with (well, three with DS1). Having thought back to all the tricky bits so far with DS1 I am so not looking forward to doing them twice over again. However DH and I were saying last night how lovely DS1 is at the mo, very sweet and suddenly seeming a bit more grown up. Can't wait for DTs to be at this age, even with the drawbacks of tantrums!

Rambling on..........

Got to get on exercise bike now.

If anyone wants me to text them a pic of DTs in bath TOGETHER btw, please say so. First time together, 3 months old today .

Dropdeadfred · 10/04/2008 11:31

Egg - yes text me!!!!

Have you considered reducing the amount they have at 4ish so that they are hungrier at 7ish?

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 10/04/2008 11:57

text me, text me

You could give them a drink of water at 4 just to keep them going till breakfast time, then give them a proper feed at 7 ish.

They may complain for a few days, but I'm sure you're strong enough to put up with that if it gets the required result in the end.

Egg · 10/04/2008 11:57

Fred have tried that... If I give them less they scream til they get more and so wont sleep. I was watering it down quite considerably (DS was having 3 scoops with 5oz of water) but it made no difference and they still had tiny feeds at 7:30 so then worried I was depriving them of calories they needed.

Will text now. It is quite a sweet pic . Wish I had taken it on proper camera so I could put it on here. Saying that, they are nudey, so best not!

OP posts:
Egg · 10/04/2008 12:00

Oh did not see Squonk's msg as it was only 4 seconds before mine! I guess if I stick it out and let them cry themselves to sleep it could work with either less or just water. Just concerned they will then wake again 45 mins later and I will get NO SLEEP. Am trying to just gradually push back the 4am feed (ie DD woke at 3:30 originally but ignored her and she did go back to sleep and I fed her at 4:25am and DS2 at 4:55am). Once I can get it to 6am that's acceptable to me!

je suis ici

pour maintenan (je pense)

et tu?

Egg · 10/04/2008 15:01

Oh bugger, I pretend to know FRANCAIS and then I can't understand your middle sentence!

DTs slept for THREE HOURS SOLID. both of them. DD slept for even longer. They have both just fed but DS only had 90ml, he normally has at least 160ml. Wondering if he will have any more. Do not like them drinking less milk than normal, esp if I am going to try to drop night feed soon. Grrr.

Am being a bit lazy today. It is great. Bugger the chores. Bugger being a Stepford Egg.

How is your tiredness today? How is DS? Did you leave him at nursery with DD2? Soon you will be able to!! Hurrah!

How long til I have all my three in school every day? 4.5 YEARS?!?!?!?!?! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
