Hello, just got back from a city break in ...... Birmingham!
DP's there for the Labour spring conference so the boys and I drove up Friday afternoon to spend some time with him as we hardly ever see him these days. We got there about 6pm, met up with DP and all went out for dinner. Then this morning DP got up early and went to interview Gordon Brown while the boys and I had an enormous hotel breakfast then we met him afterwards and spent the afternoon seeing the sights of Birmingham I thought it was going to be grim but it was surprisingly pleasant. Then at about 6pm the boys and I headed home. DP's still there till tomorrow night.
Right, must read thread.

Ooh, I forgot to say, I went to the Boden sale on Friday morning with som mum friends. I got some fantastic items at bargain prices. Best buys were a purple trench coat with bright green lining and multicoloured buttons (£30) and a baby blue corduroy jacket (£30) and two two-packs of stripy pyjamas for the boys (£15 per pack). I also got a work shirt, to long skirts, a tankini, a swimming cossie, some trousers for DS1 and a purple zip-up, fur-lined hoodie for DS2.
I spent my entire spending money for the month but I was soooo pleased, especially with the coat. Here's an eBay pic of it.

Lucky you Lyra twice over!

Where do you go for the Boden sale? We live fairly near the factory but there is no factory shop unfortunatly

Happy Mothers' Day all!

Lyra...can you explain free nursey places for dd after she is 3 to me?
Can I use the vouchers in a private nurseey or will I have to pay the difference?

Morning
Just having a breather after mucking out the ponies, then the hoover is beckoning .
Lyra, it sounds like you had a lovely time
Berrie. I'm so glad you like it, I thought it was appropriate . I'm soooooooo sorry that you had to pay excess postage again .
Don't think I'll be winning any prizes this week , although mucking out has become my excercise for the day. I get knackered .
Will you be joining us on Tue for weigh in Zeb?

oggsfrog · 02/03/2008 11:09

Gawd , think I'll have to start 'Emoticons Anonymous'.
My name is Oggsfrog and I am an emoticon addict D'oh!

LyraSilvertongue · 02/03/2008 11:28

Berrie, I'm not sure how the vouchers thing works. Because I had two summer babies, they both started school nursery weeks after they turned 3. When is DD 3? Will she go to school nursery in September?
Oggs, you are an addict but at least you recognise the fact that you have a problem. We'll all be there to support you as you seek help. Will you go cold turkey?

LyraSilvertongue · 02/03/2008 12:12

Oh, and the Boden sale was at Sandown Park racecourse, which is about 20 mins drive from here. They'd obviously cleared out their warehouses - there was masses of stuff. The boys are very pleased with theirs.

Berrie · 02/03/2008 15:02

She is 3 in September so won't get funding until January. I just don't know how it works.

Lucky you with the Boden sale.

Oggs I will post your prize soon, I promise

How've you done this week Berrie? I've not done well at all. How long did the no alcohol week last? I made it 'til Thurs.

Berrie · 02/03/2008 16:59

Er...less said the better Oggs. It's far more fun being a bloater I find.

OP posts:
Berrie · 02/03/2008 19:22

OK...we have a run - still needs wire mesh digging in around base to stop Mr Fox and the hens themselves digging in or out (not sure Dh really believes that the hens will get out under it but they will! Also needs a roof.
I have a hen house - still needs a roosting bar, a removable base for cleaning and a clasp on the laying box bit.

So...nearly there but where oh where do I get my hens? I keep missing the ones on Practical Poultry though there are some locally for £20-£30 each which is too much. I do know where I can get some boring brown hens but I want pretty ones. Does that mean I have to pay £30 each?

oggsfrog · 02/03/2008 19:30

I'm very impressed with both you and dh Berrie. You've made this a reality in such a short space of time.
Tell dh I'm very impressed with the transformation of box to hen house

Really don't know on the hen front as all mine have been other people's spares or eggs...

Berrie · 02/03/2008 21:03

Ah he'll like that...poor dh has a very bad back from all the work this weekend.
DD has been proper poorly with a raging temperature and my Mother took it upon herself to have the hump because I invited her for lunch by text. She was away Fri/Sat and we were up to her eyes in hen coop and poorly bubba and she has ruined the whole day. I spent the first 3/4 thinking she had crashed as I couldn't get hold of her and the rest wondering what I had done wrong. Then I found out and feel really cross. I don't know whether to turn the other cheek or decide that enough is enough and I won't be treated like this anymore.
Hey ho...bed time...off to tell dh how impressed you are Oggs. (used with restraint - a lesson for you) ......................

Another day...sigh

OP posts:
Zebedeedoodah · 03/03/2008 09:25

Berrie, I'm just impressed that your ma knows how to use text, even if she does get the hump

Re chickens. I think you will have to pay more for pretty ones, although to me £30 just sounds excessive. What I'd suggest is either checking the small ads in the local paper or going to your local farmers merchant and checking the ads on their notice boards.

I have my 'fat test' with my personal trainer today, so tomorrow I could announce the full extent of my shame....or not. But as the lady said, the worse you are now, the more you'll have to be proud of when you reach your goal

Berrie · 03/03/2008 09:52

Yeah and the more fabulous you'll think your trainer to be

Will buy a paper today thanks Zeb.

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 03/03/2008 09:54

Berrie, try Adtrader/Farmers Guardian/Local paper.

Berrie · 03/03/2008 11:15

Will do thanks...if I can find such publications in the local newsagent

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 03/03/2008 14:31

Where is Binkle? She's been gone ages.

Zebedeedoodah · 03/03/2008 14:37

Oh dear. The fat test.... suffice it to say we have a lot of work to do.

Berrie · 03/03/2008 15:10

Go on give us a giggle with just how outrageously fat you are!
