what names did your parents have prepared for you before your birth? If I'd been a boy, I'd have been christened Maximillian.

As things panned out, I was very nearly called Harriott. yes, spelled like that. Like Ainsley.

breeze · 24/11/2004 15:05

Don't know why, i thought this thread might be about jury duty.

My dad wanted me to be called Natasha, and if I was a boy I was going to be called Tom.

JJ · 24/11/2004 15:06

Blue or Bellew. The sad thing is, I'd rather had been named that than have the nickname I've had for my entire life (my mn username).

sigh. My life is so rough.

popsycal · 24/11/2004 15:06

fiona for a girl

pinkmama · 24/11/2004 15:07

Andrew, they were utterly convinced I was a boy.

fairydust · 24/11/2004 15:16

My poor dh was almost christened Garfield..

zephyrcat · 24/11/2004 15:22

I was Victoria for a few days. My Sister was called Shannon right up until she was registered - all her first xmas cards are 'to Shannon' lol Shes called Sophie now. My Uncle was going to be called Shirley-Ann if he was a girl so we all call him it to wind him up

motherinferior · 24/11/2004 15:29

GILES.

Which would have been very inconvenient till I became a Buffy fan in later life (always supposing my alternative life followed a similar track), at which point it would just have become just rather disturbing and weird.

Tinker · 24/11/2004 15:34

Daniel or Martin if a boy. Was also nearly Francoise or Germaine!

JanH · 24/11/2004 15:40

Davina

(My elder brother is David and my mother thought they sounded good together???)

Don't know what my boy name was (nobody to ask now! )

JanH · 24/11/2004 15:41

Oh, and I actually was called Pamela until I was 18 months - then my mother went off it.

Do we think my mother was possibly a bit peculiar?

fastasleep · 24/11/2004 15:48

My mum still tells me 'If you had been a boy you would have been called Joshua (and I would have liked you)' lol

turquoise · 24/11/2004 15:55

Cosmo
Mind you my girl name isn't much better.

joash · 24/11/2004 15:57

Billy - boy
Billie - girl

Thank god they didn't - I was a fat child and would have spent my childhood called Billie Bunter!!

amynnixmum · 24/11/2004 16:00

My mum and dad always joked that they would call their first born after St Krysogenous (I expect I spelt that wrong but it it a real name - honest!) Luckily for me they got a cat first .

geekgrrl · 24/11/2004 16:01

I would have been called Lars had I been a boy - yes, like the little polar bear! Bo was also strongly considered apparently.
