what names did your parents have prepared for you before your birth? If I'd been a boy, I'd have been christened Maximillian.

As things panned out, I was very nearly called Harriott. yes, spelled like that. Like Ainsley.

My parents had no boys name for me. How would that have felt - if I'd been born a boy and it was so obvious they didn't want a boy that they hadn't even bothered to think of a name! My big brother was the only one with a choice of name - Rachel was the girl option, but they'd clearly gone off that 15 months later!

I wasn't actually called by my name when I was born. My parents decided names they liked, told my Granny and she said "you can't call a child fisil" so they made fisil my middle name. After 3 days they decided that I was a fisil and changed it back. That's why we never tell anyone what names we're thinking of!

Ralph if I was a boy . If my dad won with his first choice of name for me, I'd have been a "Charmaine" - said with Morayshire/Aberdonian accent it doesn't sound very nice!! DH was very nearly a "Kevin" - thank goodness mil got her way!!
