Big respect for SAHM's

As a full time working dad, I must admit that I have previously thought that SAHM's must have an easy life but after spending the last two days with 3 ds's under 4, I have to say ... "Please take me back to work !! " Never again will I be tempted to tell my wife that she must have it easy. In fact, I'd say, being a SAHM must be one of the hardest jobs in the world. I have the utmost respect for you all !

Hmmm...how come my DH always says 'I don't see what all the fuss is about' on the rare occasions he looks after DD?!

codswallop · 15/11/2004 19:14

becasue they dotn dot he washing and cleaning too

Branster · 15/11/2004 19:16

and, and, and ...coddy, DD just so happens to be an absolute angel during that time and co-operates on everything (apparently!)

MarsLady · 15/11/2004 19:18

thanks daddypops. Don't forget to send your dw to a luxury spa occasionally to reward her for her hard work

Donbean · 15/11/2004 19:30

So what do you think of those of us who work part time and are home the rest of the time, keeping on top of it all and juggling?

nice thread to see. even though I'm not a SAHM myself.
make sure you tell all your friends, won't you?

libb · 15/11/2004 19:36

please don't let this be another contentious thread - big Macca thumbs for working mums whose DPs are so hopeless it is easier to just do it all themselves . . .

libb · 15/11/2004 19:40

It goes without saying that SAHMs are ace - and I am very very .

Nice to hear the other perspective for a change! (although I shouldn't really grumble about DP, he watches over DS whilst I surf Mumsnet! )

Nice post Daddypops

tiredemma · 15/11/2004 20:26

i have a great amount of respect for SAHM, its not something i could do, i find it harder and more demanding being at home with the children.
anyone who thinks its easy looking after children and a house must be a fool.
three cheers for SAHMs!

KateandtheGirls · 15/11/2004 20:31

Thanks DP!

Sozie · 15/11/2004 20:35

Why thank you kind sir (curtsy)

mykidsmum · 15/11/2004 20:51

Yes thanks lots, unfortunately my dp really does find it alot easier than me I do love being at home but find it really annoying when he manages to be a lot more organised than I am, thus rubbishing any arguement I have for "well you do it then". On the plus side it does mean I can have some time away from the house and not have to worry about it resembling a bombsite when I return. Oh well I can't have it all!!

misdee · 15/11/2004 20:55

thanks daddypops. tho i'm a lazy SAHm, we have both aprents here to ligthened the load.

colinsmommy · 15/11/2004 21:08

Are you trying to become the favorite dad on here daddypops? Seriously, though, what a nice thing to see when I turned on my computer.

TwoIfBySea · 15/11/2004 21:14

Why thank you Daddypops. It is nice to have a positive thing said about us.

Of course all we do is sit around all day, eat chocolates and watch tv! I wish (no I don't really!)

DH is of the same opinion, he can handle ds twins (nearly 3) for an afternoon alone. Keeping in mind this is only looking after them, not any housework or anything else. When I return home - usually from the supermarket, pah! - he has a well-worn look to him! I wait for the day I return to find him tied to a chair by ds twins, not me!

Gobbledigook · 15/11/2004 21:30

Thanks Daddypops - nice to get some appreciation!

Your dw is a very lucky woman!
